Spots are large and easy to pull through if you come through the center and aim your rig to the outboard sides. Fenced in spots add to privacy as well. Owner was friendly and gave us access to the facilities. We stayed 3 days and enjoyed our time there. Will come back again of they have a ln open spot. They are making improvements while I was there. So it it just getting better.

It also had private little yard and picnic tables and flowers . Owner came to make sure everything was working perfectly and helped me with my water hose . I didn't care if it wasn't within walking distance to restaurants . I felt as if I was in my own place with my private fence and yard . My dog also loved having her own little space . I plan to go and do some trails at Palo Duro . I am short distance from what I love . You should come out and check it out for yourself . I will definitely come back .

A visitor center, with this being Texas is absolutely bigger and better than anywhere else . The friendly atmosphere of the staff. In fact the gentleman that helped us and greeted us from behind some glass window came out and showed us the "how to do this and that." They made sure we knew what we wanted and needed . If that's even possible! The local business on the outer ring has flora and fauna of the small city of Amarillo. The landscape has a great variety of steel cows to take photos of . It's truly well done . Great little area to walk around and explore the landscape of nature here in Texas. It's bigger and nicer in Texas . Snap a self portrait with horn and those that you love. See what you look like with bull horns . The parking lot has plenty of parking. Lots of free information inside and happy people to share joy about Texas with you. We are telling and are approximately 50 feet and fit into the spots really nicely. All the spots are very large. What's best is the customer service. We called at midnight last night and somebody answered and said they had vacancy. We did not have this experience in the other campgrounds in Amarillo. In fact this is the only campground the answer their phone at all hours of the night. Other campgrounds didn't even have anything listed On their office showing vacancy spots or even a map of what they have open. Will definitely be stopping here again! The spot was $26/ night. The campground isn't fancy, but it's got great pull through sites with 30/50 amp power. We parked on the far left corner & had the best clear view of an open field. Very pretty, small trees. We paid the discounted passport America price, you just find your spot first, park, then walk over to the front office. You fill out an envelope with cash or check & put it in the slot. We didn't see anyone at the front office either of the two times we have camped here & that's just our style. They do offer free WiFi which wasn't too bad, except for peak hours. We loved staying here! I don't know if there are showers or laundry, because we live in our Motorhome & didn't need that anyways.

There is no getting turned around here. The waiting area seemed to have room for everyone and was clean. Smaller planes are typically coming in and out of here, so you are not bunched up with 200 other people at your gate. They don't have a ton of shopping or dining options, but there are only like 7 gates, they are not going to have the amenities of a large airport. Bring a snack and enjoy not having to show up 3 hours before your flight.

I have traveled through Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport every 2-3 months for…read moreapproximately five years, and I have always appreciated the convenience of flying through a smaller airport. Unfortunately, my experience with the security checkpoint over the past year has become increasingly frustrating. I have TSA PreCheck and use the available facial/Touchless ID process when it is offered. Yet despite having PreCheck clearly reflected on my boarding pass, my recent experiences have repeatedly involved additional screening that seems completely disproportionate to the number of passengers in the checkpoint. On my most recent trip, as has happened repeatedly over the past year, I was told I had been selected for a "random" additional check. This has now happened to me approximately ten consecutive times. I have been required to remove my shoes and send them through screening again, have had my belongings subjected to additional screening, and have been subjected to pat-downs on multiple occasions. On one recent visit, it took approximately 30 minutes to get through security despite there being only around 10-15 people in the entire security area. At some point, repeated "random" screening stops feeling random from the passenger's perspective. When the vast majority of people standing in an almost empty security area are being pulled aside for additional screening, it raises legitimate questions about whether the procedures are being applied consistently and whether staff are adequately trained on the screening protocols associated with TSA PreCheck. What is especially frustrating is that passengers are standing around watching this happen and openly asking one another, "Why are they checking everyone?" People are having to unpack belongings, remove additional items, wait for repeated screening, and in some cases undergo pat-downs when there is virtually no line to begin with. I fully understand and support the need for airport security. This is not a complaint about security measures themselves. It is a complaint about the apparent inconsistency, the excessive amount of additional screening, the amount of time it takes, and the lack of clear communication to passengers about why these procedures are occurring. A small airport like Amarillo should be an easy and pleasant airport to travel through. Instead, the security experience has become a source of unnecessary frustration. I would strongly encourage airport management and TSA leadership to review what is happening at the Amarillo checkpoint, including how often passengers are being selected for additional screening, how PreCheck passengers are being processed, how long these screenings are taking, and whether additional training or supervisory oversight is needed. I have continued to fly through Amarillo because I love the convenience of this airport and the community it serves. But the current security experience is unacceptable, and after five years of frequent travel through AMA, I feel this needs to be addressed. Rating: 1/5 stars. I hope someone in a position to address this will actually read this and investigate what is happening at the checkpoint rather than simply dismissing it as an individual passenger complaint.
