My 9 year old Staffy had had a heart murmur since birth. Never had an issue with it until…read morerecently. She has been having labored shallow breaths for a couple of days. She couldnt get comfortable lying down. Classic signs of congestive heart failure. My normal vet did not have any openings for a week. I found this place during a google search. They got her in right away. They provided me a number of option and reccommendations. I decided to pay for the expensive stuff EKG, Ultrasound etc. They found exactly what I thought and immediatly gave her a lasix treatment to reduce the fluid retention. within hours she was breathing 100% better. The test showed Enlarged Heart, Glitchy Mitral valve and Congestive heart failure. The meds prescribed have worked great so far. She is on the schedule to see there cardiac specialist on 8/10. Yes it wasn't cheap, but you get what you pay for. This place is open 24/7. Of course the overhead is high. They have all the specialist and equipment you could ask for. I did have to wait longer than initially told. However, they are an emergency clinic! They prioritise the most sick or injured. Which I appreciate. If my waiting two hours longer than expected allows someone else's babies to survive than so be it.

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMAL TO THEIR NEUROLOGY DEPARTMENT! I would strongly encourage other dog owners…read moreto understand the difference between getting an MRI performed and getting a neurologist who is willing to evaluate your dog's symptoms and help determine what is actually going on. We spent approximately $4,000 to have Rain's MRI performed, traveling five hours round trip because of the limited availability of MRI appointments. (** I had to pay before even getting any treatment. I asked for a itemized estimate to show what I was paying for - they didnt even have that available and were shocked someone would ask for that type of documentation HAHA) We went into this Neurology appt hoping to get answers about her ongoing hind-leg lameness, significant weight-bearing issues, and pain. We already had an orthopedic surgeon and a sports medicine veterinarian involved in her care, and we needed the MRI and neurology consultation to help us understand her injury and determine the best path forward. Unfortunately, that is not what we received. During our consultation, the neurologist did not ask me questions about Rain's symptoms, the progression of her injury, didnt want to see any video evidence of my concerns, or the concerns raised by the other veterinarians involved in her care. When I tried to discuss her symptoms and ask questions about the findings, there was little willingness to engage in that conversation. I left feeling that the neurologist had evaluated the imaging from a narrow neurological perspective rather than helping us understand the bigger picture of my dog's condition. I was told that my dog was not lame, that her spine looked good, and that there was no nerve compression or neurological issue identified. Yet my dog was visibly struggling to bear weight, experiencing significant muscle atrophy on her injured hind leg. THANKFULLY a radiologist also reads the images and wrote in their report that an orthopedic injury in the L7-S1 region could not be ruled out. That finding was particularly important given her symptoms, but I did not feel it was adequately discussed with me during the consultation. Ultimately, I received more useful information about the MRI findings and the recommendation for four weeks of rest from the technician than I did from the neurologist who was supposed to consult on her case. To be clear, my frustration is not that we didn't receive a definitive diagnosis. It is that I expected a specialist consultation to involve listening to the owner, discussing the clinical signs, explaining the findings, and working toward a better understanding of the dog's condition. That did not happen in our experience. If all you need is imaging performed, your experience may be different. But if you are traveling, spending thousands of dollars, and expecting a neurologist to actively participate in evaluating your dog's symptoms and helping guide the next steps in their care, I would encourage you to seek another Neurology department. My sport vet tried consulting with the neurologist but received the same exact treatment and brushoff that I did. Our dogs depend on us to advocate for them. I went into this appointment expecting collaboration and answers to help Rain recover. Instead, I left with more questions, paying $4k for MRI pictures ONLY, and having to continue to seek guidance elsewhere.

To keep things short, I'm beyond grateful for the staff at animal clinic downtown (as well as the…read moreEast location), specifically Dr. Gauldin. We've brought multiple pets to them, and they have always provided quality care. For more information - we have a blue heeler/australian shepherd mix that had extreme behavior and skin changes. I took her to two other vets, one of which being the vet I had taken her since she was a puppy. Both vets essentially told me it was a combination of poor training, known issues known with the breed, and her getting older and "caring less." I felt like I was watching my dog get sicker and sicker and no one was listening to me. I decided to get a THIRD opinion, which was Dr. Gauldin at Animal Clinic downtown. She listened to all of my concerns without brushing any of them off. She - just based on what I described - was able to give what she thought the issue was. 2 weeks of appointments and testing later, my dog was diagnosed with exactly what Dr. Gauldin mentioned in our first appointment. Words really can't describe how relieving it was to find a vet that just listened to my concerns, and actually clearly cares about the animals she treats.

They charged me ten dollars to throw the needle in the sharps container. The practice is Animal Clinic Downtown 2223 E 23rd St, Chattanooga. They have turned waste disposal into a profit center. Example: Ten (probably on the low side) disposed needles a day times a 5 day work week, times 4 weeks in a month comes to... 200 approx needles in a month @ $10 equals $2000 a month!!! Has anyone else ever been charged for this? Disposal companies such as Stericycle charge WAY under this amount.

A rewards program is also offered in which you can obtain points and use them for a discount when a certain threshold in reached. Also, check their website for monthly promos, too! Lastly, we were also told they have two sister stores as well: Play Wash Pint (barks and brews) and Play Wash Stay (boarding and daycare). We look forward to checking out each one. Just love this place! Everything you need for your furry friends is here with exceptional staff, who are very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I miss this place so much…read more I found my dog Lucy after she was tossed out by some a-hole when she was about 6 weeks old. I brought her to Shallowford Animal Hospital at the suggestion of a friend and was blown away. It's very clean, the staff is kind and accommodating, and they definitely take advantage of 21st century technology, with computer in the exam rooms and a very convenient monthly automated billing system. Their wellness packages are totally comprehensive and very reasonably priced, especially since it meant that all her preventative services were included and would be taken care of. Their staff at the front desk are amazing, by the way - they have listened to me freak out hysterically after my dog was injured and have gotten me last minute appointments on more than one occasion, plus they are great with email correspondence which is oftentimes a lot more convenient for me. I have seen both Dr. Mabe and Dr. Bearden and found them both to be incredibly attentive and patient, which is helpful when you have a 50lb spaz dog like mine. I have also brought dogs to them that I have fostered, and I have recommended them to all my friends, even the ones who don't have pets. Sadly I had to move away for grad school, and I suspect my standards may be set a little too high after this since I'm not sure another vet will live up to the experience I've had here. But if I ever make it back to the Noog this will be one of our first stops.

Had an appt. Got there early. I did ALL paperwork online before I arrived, and I was asked (as…read more"confirmations") the very same questions. I was early, and they did go ahead and put me in a room with my pet. Problem is it was a 1/2 hour past my appointment time, and I finally left the room and my pet to confirm my appt. I told them I'd wait another 15 mins (would have been 45 mins past my appt time). So, the front desk clerk (technician?) apparently went to the only doctor working that day, and the doctor said it's going to be more than 45 mins (past my appt time) -- maybe longer before I would get seen. Mind you, I arrived early and all my paperwork was complete. I told the tech that I'd go ahead and leave. They said, "Well, yes, we can make you another appointment." I said, "No, I won't be coming back here." I spent all that time doing the paperwork and packing my pet up to go to the appointment, and that's it. How would you feel if this happened to you? OK, I get it, you may have only one doctor there that day; however, you are all about texting/phoning the client, so, why didn't you give me text/call letting me know the situation (they had no shortage of people up front), and I could have rescheduled without having to go to the appointment, to only sit there all that time. My pet was in the carrier the whole time, and was more concerned about it than my time. There was no engagement with the techs up front. I had to do all the engaging and asking questions. Noone ever came to check up on me or anything until I started engaging with them (being proactive) 30 minutes into my wait. I will hopefully find a good, engaging, economical veterinarian for my pet, in the Chattanooga area. I will use Yelp to help me find the best that my pet deserves. I'm being generous giving two stars on this one.

The girl looks at me and says I have no idea she goes but you did sign off on liability. At this time, I just wanna get Delilah home, but I wanted to come across the counter and ring her neck I looked at her and I said I signed off on liability, not negligence. You have veterinarians right next-door. Something happened to her and she should've been seen. After going to an emergency veterinarian in downtown Chattanooga $8000 later, my dog who just turned four in 2025 is handicapped. She has damage to her back vertebrae's and her anal sphincter. I now have a dog that if I need to board her and I have found a boarding facility that I do love she has to wear a diaper. Biggest mistake I have ever made, and I have to live with this for the rest of my life. And unfortunately, so does Delilah.
