The decor is adorable and they have lots of different pastries and drinks! I decided on their chicken sausage croissant + their cookie of the month (strawberry shortcake, aka strawberry + white chocolate). Prices are pretty average for a bakery/cafe. Service was very friendly + quick and they have a clean bathroom!

My first visit I enjoyed a house baked scone and the second visit I tried one of their breakfast burritos. Both were good choices, but if I had to repeat, I'd go with another scone. On their menu, they also offer quiche, muffins and a variety of danish. The coffee is self-serve once you order and they give you two regular and one decaf to choose from. If you add sugar to your coffee, they had the real thing, plus raw sugar and a rainbow of artificial sugars to choose from. I got a grin that the ice cream they offer was a small town company back home in Illinois. They serve, Prairie Farms. Which is based in, Carlinville, Illinois. It was nice to see that they support a farmer owned company. Front Porch does have a fabulous porch that almost wraps around the entire building. It is great for relaxing on a beautiful day. Pets are welcome with well behaved owners. Only thing that disappointed me was, I did not visit them on a Monday. Monday is the day, Seniors get a 10% discount and we all like to save. Staff was what you'd expect from a small town coffee shop, it was extremely friendly. Everyone knew each other, yet they made out-of-town folks feel welcomed as well.

Boat rental aspect of this business is very poorly managed. Why?…read moreBoat we reserved was unavailable. Gave us a boat from a neighbor. Returned the boat on schedule but the boat we reserved was still unavailable. They gave us their other boat, which was missing a navigation light (no night fishing), no fishing net and the motor leaked fuel. Returned that boat. Noticed the boat we reserved was at the dock and available. It's Wednesday already but no one had called to let us know. The dock boy called management because no one told him that was our reserved boat. We finally got the boat. Trolling motor was dysfunctional. Returned to dock. Etc. Half of our week was boat troubles. I could continue about unreturned calls, baseless excuses, a dock boy they stranded in a storm...but I will conclude with this; avoid Moosebirds for boat rentals. But, if you must rent here, definitely DO NOT PAY UPFRONT! Being famous for ice cream does not make up for our experience. It's good ice cream only because it's ice cream. Not because it's delicious ice cream.
