5 STARS - Prime location especially families with young children! (July 2025) Cape Cod is a family tradition for us, and Southfleet Motor Inn is one of those special places that keeps us coming back. We've been visiting the Cape since 2014 (my husband even longer) and this was our third stay at Southfleet. Over the years we've camped in tents, stayed in yurts, and rented Airbnbs, but there's something about this cozy, classic Wellfleet motel that we just love. One of our favorite things? Crossing the street to hop on the Cape Cod Rail Trail. We love biking to Marconi Beach and riding to Bob's Cone & Burgers to fuel up. It's the perfect spot for families who love the outdoors. The indoor pool and hot tub are a treat, especially after a beach day, and the outdoor pool is refreshing and clean. There's cold water/coffee/microwave/toaster/few plates and plastic ware available in lobby , a vending machine, a simple game room, and even a washer/dryer on site. We especially appreciate the clothesline contraption tucked behind the motel near the BBQ pit which is super handy for drying swimsuits and towels. Other thoughtful touches include: A tented area over picnic tables A small playground for the kids Washer (free) Dryer (coins to use) shed near playground BBQ grill available for guests Friendly, helpful staff Great location near Marconi Beach, local eats, and the Rail Trail Only tiny con: the mini-fridge is on the smaller side, so if you're packing food for a long stay, bringing a cooler helps. All in all, Southfleet Motor Inn feels like part of our Cape Cod rhythm now which is simple, clean, family-friendly, and in a perfect location. We'll definitely be back again! Everything about this place was a 5 star. The people at the front desk were pleasant, inviting and accomodating. The room was very clean with numerous TV channels and good size refrigerator to store what was in my cooler. There was a playground for kids, restaurants in all directions and centrally located for visits to Provincetown and Martha's Vinyard. This is a well maintained, pristine family friendly motel to spend the day or more. read more

They couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating to us. It is immaculately clean. It has 2 pools, one indoors and one out doors. Free WIFI and parking. It's right on Rte. 6 and sits between 2 very good seafood/steak restaurants so you can walk to dinner! It is about 4 miles from downtown Wellfleet and even closed to the beach. read more

Not the best hotel/ motel in the area... the room was moldy good thing I always bring Lysol but it wasn't enough. The bed and bedding are outdated and no microwave. The air conditioner started off super cold but then fizzled to barely cooling so for about $550 for two days it was nothing I would recommend. Sorry not satisfied. read more

We usually stay at the Wellfleet Motel, but decided to try a different spot when we came down for Memorial Day weekend. We had a great stay here. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and everything was very clean. Our kids had fun in the indoor pool, the jacuzzi, the playground, and basketball court. The people who work here were very friendly and welcoming. They had a washer and drier, which were easy to use, so we could dry our beach towels. The price was great! We will definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed for 5 nights and I honestly could not find anything wrong with the place. It was clean, affordable and convenient. Staff was attentive and nice. We were able to utilize the amenities and cooked the fish we caught in PTown on the lovely outdoor grill provided. They start a fire every night in the fireplace for outdoor enjoyment. The kids loved both pools, the hot tub and playground. For a family vacation, you can't beat the price for what you get. I would highly recommend. read more

The best place to stay in Wellfleet!! This place is awesome. I've been coming here since I was a little girl and I still do. They're clean, comfortable, hospitable, convenient and friendly! They're located right off the main road between two amazing restaurants. They have an indoor and outdoor pool and a hot tub! They have simple rooms with good working A/C units and heaters. They have T.V, free bike rentals, and are located a bike ride away from the beach! The owners are really sweet. I ran out of toothpaste and was surprised when they had toothpaste, and other toiletries available. They even have a place to do your laundry. My favorite part was the fire pit in the back. They set it up for you!! It's on until late in the night and is so nice to go outside and sit by the fire roasting marshmallows. The rooms are very affordable also which is a huge plus. My family has a house nearby on The Cape. However when the WHOLE family is there at the same time, for the last three years I've escaped to this place to stay instead. Basically I just sleep and shower here. For that the Southfleet is adequate. The rooms are decent sized, nothing fancy. Clearly designed for families. The bathroom was small and a bit dated but clean enough. The water pressure was so low it was like taking a shower under an eyedropper. No fan in the bathroom. In my room this weekend the Wi-Fi was so weak it was essentially useless. If you have AT&T you'll find the cell signal is not much better. The king sized bed comfortable. There is AC in the room that worked well but was pretty noisy. You enter the rooms from the outside and as people walk by late at night or early in the morning I'm not sure if they understand that the people staying in the rooms can hear every word they are saying. If you're a late sleeper this is probably not the place for you. I would not have a honeymoon here. I have never actually used use any of them, but they do have some amenities. The indoor and an outdoor pools seemed pretty nice. They have a picnic area with a gas grill, picnic tables, fire pit, etc. that you can use. Also a small kids playground. The place is not huge, maybe 30 or so rooms. It's well located on Route 6 directly across from the entrance to Marconi Beach (one of my favorite beaches on the Cape) and literally right next door to Van Rensselaer's and Catch of The Day restaurants. Maybe 20 minutes to P-Town and a little longer to Hyannis. There's plenty to do in the area on-season. I paid about $200+/night in mid-July. When I first looked a couple years ago I think that was competitive but if it wasn't The Cape in the middle of summer I would never pay that much for a place like this. I usually stay at the house so honestly I have nothing to compare this place to. But I've stayed here 3 years in a row so I can't say I'm unhappy. The owners seem like nice enough people. This was my first time, and I just returned from a somewhat whim of an overnight stay. I was very impressed. It's a nice place for the $$ - spent $78 for a pretty big room with a king bed and super cute bathroom. Two 10-foot deep (indoor/outdoor) pools! What hotels still offer pools any deeper than 6 feet in the deep end?? The entire place was clean, the staff was friendly and they offer free continental breakfast for the restaurant next door, or 20% off a full breakfast. There is a fire pit with a grill AND complementary bikes (first come, first serve). It was great that check out time was 11 instead of 10. Might not seem like a big deal, but in the morning that extra hour is definitely a bonus. I'm already looking forward to coming back. read more

My friend booked this motel for our stay in Cape Cod in July. They had previously stayed here the year prior and it was a good deal for the long weekend so we went with it again. We had a good 4-day visit, although only staying in the hotel to shower and sleep. Since that was the case, we did not require fancy digs. The room was a little humid and damp, but the AC and fan helped alleviate that a little bit. We stayed as a group in a room with 2 queen beds and a pull out couch. It was huge and not cramped for the six of us. We had plenty of storage space for our food and drinks. Plus, there was a fridge (similar to the ones people have in college) -- enough space for a few dozen beers and water bottles. Shower was clean, but hot water ran out quickly. I recommend you keep your showers short and sweet. The door also jammed in our room, likely due to the humidity. But again, we managed. It might be a little tough if you have kids as they wouldn't be strong enough to re-open the bathroom door after shutting it. There was also a pool and hot tub, which we only enjoyed one of the nights because it closes at 10pm and we were often still out past then. The best part was its close proximity to the beach -- right across from Marconi Beach. The second best part was the continental breakfast. Quite spectacular, really. They had fresh fruit (loads of watermelon), strong coffee, and a host of bagels and toast with peanut butter, jam, and cream cheese. We saved some cash eating here every morning. read more

Just ended my stay a while ago and overall a great experience. It's a great price for it's location and inclusion of an indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, free bike rentals, and some outdoor recreations. The bikes were a bit run down, but being allowed to pick whichever one you want and signing them out for free, it makes up for it. Marconi beach is only about a mile or two away, which has some beautiful views (you may be able to see seals as well). The only negatives were very minute and did not impact the overall experience. The wifi was free, but was very weak at times. But on vacation, you shouldn't be spending a lot of time on electronics anyways. Also there was two occasions were a spider found it's way to the bed, but it wasn't a huge deal and could have happened anywhere. Staff put effort into cleanliness and were very welcoming. A perfectly immaculate place to stay for the quintessential Cape Cod experience. All the comforts you need for the entire family. A refreshing indoor and outdoor pools with a indoor jacuzzi to enjoy after a day at the beach. Fire pit area to relax with the kids after sunset and enjoy a beverage and toast some marshmallows. A pristine gas grill to fire up your own dinner while the family enjoys a game of horseshoes or checkers. There is even a safe play area for the wee ones. A coin operated washer and dryer for those times when you just need to 'wash' clothes. Air Conditioned rooms with a ample refrigerator and a coffee maker. My family and I just stayed here for four nights. This motel is really great. The room had two queen beds, a small table with two chairs, a refrigerator, coffee pot, a flat screen tv with cable, and a long dresser. The room was quite large. The bathroom was also spacious. The water pressure was a bit lacking in the shower but overall it was ok. The shower head was detachable. The staff were all very polite. Both the indoor and outdoor pools were very clean. The hot tub was difficult to adjust and it seemed as though only some jets were working. My children enjoyed the playground especially the swings. We played horse shoes and checkers outside with the included equipment. The fire pit was nice too. The breakfast was enough to full us up for a few hours. They offered hot coffee and tea as well as orange juice and cranberry juice. There were also cans of tomato juice available. There were store bought bagels and breads. If you get there early enough you can usually get a slice or two of bread from the local French bakery up the road. There were also cream cheese cups, butter, jellies, and peanut butter packets. Watermelon was also available at breakfast. The hotel was surrounded by two great restaurants as well. At check in we were provided with coupons for both places. The hotel is at the entrance to Marconi beach. I would definitely stay here again. It was great for a relaxing trip to the Cape. read more

I booked this hotel, among two others, for guests attending my wedding in June 2009. It was recommended to me by the country club where my wedding was held. Many months before my wedding, I booked a block of rooms for my wedding. I never heard from the hotel again, whereas the other hotels frequently contacted me. About 10 days before the wedding, I attempted to call the hotel on numerous occasions to speak someone about changing one of my guests to another hotel for personal reasons. I called the front desk 5 times over the course of numerous days to straighten out the situation. Each time I was told that the individual(s) who could answer the situation were not there, but that my number would be given to them immediately to call me back. I NEVER heard from the hotel. Finally, as my guest was checking in, I went with her and checked her out, to switch her to another hotel. I was finally able to get a hold of the owner/manager AFTER the wedding to try and settle the matter of the deposit left on the credit card. I was treated in a negative manner, the owner/manager claimed they had never received my calls. Also, she claimed that she was very upset with me because I never filled up the number of rooms I set aside in August. However, the hotel never called or contacted me in any manner to ask about possible reservations ahead of time. Additionally, this hotel gave me a group rate that was more expensive than the most expensive hotel in the area, for a hotel that was definitely not worth the money. read more

My husband and I started out with an iphone meltdown meaning we could not even call or find our relatives in their new home. We received patient, amazing help from Alex, one of the proprietors. This was the beginning of our very comfortable 3 night stay in the bright, large and clean corner room with 2 queen size beds. We enjoyed the traffic light on Rt 6 that helped us cross to the Cape Cod Rail Road Trail and we did walk to Marconi Beach. The heated pool and the hot tub enhanced our stay. Don't stay here! We found a bed bug between the mattress & box spring of our bed. The owner could not have cared less (his employee was more concerned than he was). We discovered this after 10:00 pm as we were getting ready to go to bed. They did not have any other rooms. He offered to change the sheets and charge us full price for a room with bugs. Needless to say, we left with no where to go & debated driving home. We went to the Four Points Sheraton in Eastham looking for a room. They were booked, but the nice woman there called other hotels & found us a room. This was refreshing since we didn't get this kind of service from the hotel where we originally booked. Since they were the direct cause of a major inconvenience I would have thought they would try to be helpful or apologetic. I was wrong to assume that folks who work in the hospitality industry would actually conduct themselves in this manner. read more

My husband and I spent a long weekend here in July 2015. The location is great; very close to beaches, a short drive to Provincetown, and a short walk to two great restaurants. The people are nice, the rooms are clean and the rates are reasonable. HOWEVER, I want to caution anyone considering staying here about the "arrangement" the motel has with local folks, allowing them to use the pool. It sounds really nice, but our experience was not. Imagine two Jerry Springer guests and all of their children (six or seven, though it wasn't clear who was family and who was a friend). They stayed at the pool all day on a Sunday, even ordering take-out. Their belongings were scattered throughout the area, and the kids were pretty loud (Moms didn't even look up fro their phones/tablets). Extended family seemed to stop by as well. It was like being at a stranger's back yard pool. We knew these folks were not motel guests just by their behavior (they were not acting like people sharing the pool), but we confirmed it with the front desk. It was uncomfortable, and will prevent us from staying at the Southfleet in the future. I wish the management would re-evaluate this policy, or at least be more selective when reaching out to the community. read more

I've stayed at the Southfleet Motor Inn last summer. I basically used my room as a landing pad... a place to keep my things, shower, and sleep. I mean, who spends too much time in their hotel when at the Cape?! So my review is not of the actual room itself. I do want to praise the Southfleet Motor Inn for their convenience and flexibility. Last summer when I stayed, I was not going to be getting to my room until after midnight. That was no problem for the folks at Southfleet. This year, I was running into the same problem. Wouldn't be able to check in until very late. Again, no problem! I ended up not needing my room that night, or for the following night either (my Aunt has a cottage down on the Cape and invited me to stay with her), so I called the Southfleet to let them know I didn't use the room the night before and wouldn't be needing it for the current night either. I was expecting to pay for at least the first night because I had in a way "checked-in" over the phone with them. Or a cancelation fee, maybe. And I was prepared to not get any of my money back since I was canceling day of. That was not the case at all! I just had to pay the tax on the room for the first night that I "checked-in" over the phone. The woman I spoke with did not even seem the least bit aggravated. Everyone I've met at the Southfleet is very nice and easy to work with. I will definitely stay here again! read more
