Beware of this scam company. They usually start by giving the same old sob story about being a veteran and helping veterans and end up scamming good citizens out of their hard earned money. Before a deposit was put down, we asked Southers to give us a ball park estimate of how much the project will cost in order to decide if to go with an architect and continue with the project or not. Southers will never give you an estimate in order that you can hire their architect and pay them first, only for the architecture to produce sub par drawings and tell us that our outdoor Gazebo will cost $275,000 - $325,000. Keep in mind that this gazebo has no walls. I can build a whole house for that money. This is entrapment in order to give the architects business. We then decided that we will not go with that project anymore if it will be that cost, and we requested our $34000 down for the project. It has been more than 4 months that Southers has not returned that deposit. When we talked to Ralph, he said they will deduct "admin fees" before refunding the deposit. Up until today, the supposed balance of the deposit has not been refunded. Furthermore, what do these "admin fees" entail. Absolutely nothing administrative was done and the project had not started. Southers should get ready to explain to the courts what the "admin fees" are, how many hours were put in should be documented etc. If you claim to have served the military, then don't bring shame to the military with such dishonor and fraudulent business practices. That said, if we don't receive all of that $34000 deposit by this week, I will be contacting the state attorney next week to investigate your fraudulent business practices. You can only hope that your hands are clean and that you pay all your taxes consistently. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau today aswell. read more

We initially had a bay window quoted. we were also putting in a pool and needed a patio. We opted not to use them for the window reasoning was we lucked out with a sweet extended payment plan with another company however we did move forward with our pool patio and fencing. I can not say enough praise on the ease of working with Raf, Jeff and Pete. They were eager to do the job and unfortunately it was the horrible pool company that held us up definitely don't use who we used. i apprec the communication through out the whole project. Their BBB was revoked and the NH Attorney General has a lawsuit against them with 17 counts of basically ripping people off, taking the money and not doing the work. The unprofessional office staff were rude, I got the runaround for almost two years it took to complete my project because no one over there knows how to read the contract they signed. They blamed high turnover for their horrible customer service. That turnover is because Ricky wasn't paying his employees. Hired Southers to build an 8x10 composite pool deck, their salesman who sold the project informed us they were two weeks out on starting projects, this was May 13th 2023. We obtained a loan for $12,654 and the project was paid in full by May 15th. The first project manager contacted me to figure out more about the project and make sure it was an 8x10, I was informed at that point that they were 3 months out from starting projects not 2 weeks. I kept in contact with the project manager every couple weeks to see how things were moving along. In July I contacted him again for an update and get directed to a voicemail that he no longer worked for Southers construction and that I would have to contact the main office. I tried contacting the main office multiple times with no luck so I managed to finally get a hold of the old project manager who gave me the contact information for the "head of production". I called this new contact on June 27th who said he was ina meeting and either him or the owner Ricky would get back to me by noon that day if not the following day Fast forward to July 14th and i have atill yet to hear from either thw project manager or the owner of the company so i call the project manager again just to get another voicemail stating that he no longer worked for Southers and directed me to a seperate contact, I again called this new contact to be directed to a voicemail stating that they no longer worked for Southers and to contact the main office. I left voicemails and emails with the main office and finally I had another "project manager" contact me that day July 14th. I asked him for updates and if materials had been ordered which they had not been ordered yet. I told him I didnt want to be next in line for my project just for materials to be unavailable, i few days later he informed me the materials had been ordered and that August 4th was my project start date and it would take one week to complete. Materials were not ready on August 4th because they were unavailable by the 12th pressure treated lumber was delivered but no composite decking which i hadd to inform the project manager about because he had no clue about it. He managed to scramble and get decking delivered by the 16th... but it wasnt all of it. Work didnt start until August 14th and the workers had to stop each time out of the 5 times they showed up due to lack of materials, there was a day I had to ask the manager where the workers were because no one had shown up which he was completely unaware of. There is so much more, but all in all the workmanship is unprofessional i had to call code enforcement down and he found lots of issues, to start they never pulled a permit, one of the support legs is half off the footing, the stair risers are held on with 2 nails, the list goes on, in the end I have an unfinished deck that is a safety hazard. Southers replaced fascia, gutters, and drip edge. When the first rain came, the water ran under their drip edge and inside the new fascia, and out the soffit. Through our eaves. Both sides of the house, the entire roofline. They said they'd take care of it, but all they did was put some quick sealant on the top of the drip edge. Water is still coming in. After a couple months and getting nowhere with Southers, I paid for a home inspector to come and look at their work - he said the water was coming where they installed the drip edge and that the cause was the way they installed the fascia and new shadowboard. Which is, frankly, obvious. Southers now admits the water is coming in at the drip edge they installed - but take no blame and will not fix it. One of their employees told me there is "trial and error" involved, so they couldn't know ahead of time it will leak. Wish I'd never worked with them. read more

If you are considering doing business with Southers Construction, I can only say RUN away as fast as you can. My experience with them from start to finish (well, they really aren't finished) has been nothing short of disappointing. We contracted with Southers for a full siding replacement job. They delayed the start of our project continuously and we changed project managers 3 times. Each time a new project manager arrived, he would bad mouth the previous person and promises were made but never kept. I was also well informed of all the issues unfolding at the company in addition to repeatedly being told the owner was upset they underbid the job. I really don't want to hear about the drama at their company, I just want my job done and done well. They finally started and basically just hired out the project to a sub-contractor that the latest project manager needed to babysit and teach how to install the siding. But, that didn't go well as the manager wasn't always on site and the boss of the subcontracted crew went missing for several days in the middle of the project. We survived all of that and despite some less-than-perfect quality, I was just glad the job was over... until it rained. The window trim was not caulked properly and the gutters were not reconnected to the spouts drawing the water away from the house. So, we got water in our kitchen and basement. It took them over a week to come see the problem. They acknowledged the caulking wasn't done and told me they would be out the next week to fix it. I asked for all the windows to be checked and any issues addressed. As expected, they have not returned any of my phone calls. I would be embarrassed if I owned this company. Looks like I'll have to hire someone else to fix this company's mistakes. Oh, and they installed one window for me, but they played games with that, lied about it being ordered three times and eventually installed a window that doesn't match the others on the house. I hired Southers Construction to replace my roof. They made three BIG mistakes: 1. Before the work started, I asked if a building permit was needed and they said no. Several days into the job I received a "Cease and Desist " letter from the town of Salisbury for failing to obtain a building permit. 2. Two hard-working men were working alone one day, apparently without a supervisor. The nails they used on the portion of the roof above the back porch were too long, so they came through the ceiling. 3. They removed the cap and flashing from the chimney, but didn't replace it right away. The next day, a Saturday, it poured and the rain damaged the ceiling on the second floor of my house. Complaint Details Southers Construction LLC and I both signed a work contract on 7/29/2022 for roof repair. Two areas of the roof would be repaired: chimney reflashing and re-shingling a valley within the roof. For the valley roof repair the work contract stated, "Remove and asses the current rubber roof. Remove flashing along siding. Remove siding. Assess damage that current system has done. Then properly tie in rubber roof, siding flashing, re-side, and reshingle areas needed. If repair is done sooner than 8 hours, and chargeback will be given." The chimney reflashing work agreement stated, "Grind out old lead from chimney and install new 12" roll of lead step flashing. Install ice and water shield around chimney. Seal each step of lead flashing. Remortar sections of the chimney that we grind out the old lead from." A fifty percent deposit was given to Southers Construction on 7/29/2022 for the work they agreed to complete. The check was cashed by Southers Construction on 8/01/2022. A project manager was assigned to our job on 8/10/2022. The Project Manager came to the house and checked out the job. He suspected the chimney itself needed attention and contacted a mason to inspect it. The mason, not a Souther's employee, said the chimney needed to rebuilt from the roof line. A new chimney was built 9/29/2022. Work began on our roof project on 10/07/2022. Subcontractors, not Southers Construction Employees, were assigned to our job. These subcontractors completed the job that day with a couple quick onsite check-ins, from the ground, by our assigned Southers project manager. On 10/08/2022, the Project Manager came to the house to inspect the work. The job in the valley of the roof was deemed incomplete and unsatisfactory by the Project Manager and would be assigned to another subcontractor for a future date. The chimney work was inspected from the ground, the Project Manager had an injured knee and was unable to climb. We assumed the chimney was completed satisfactory. On 12/17/2022 the repair around the chimney leaking. A replaced interior ceiling was showing a large water mark. Immediately Southers Construction was called; the receptionist said an urgent message would be forwarded and we would hear back from someone. No one returned the call. Subsequent calls were left on Southers voicemail for the following two days. On 12/20/2022 I requested to speak with the owner, I explained the situation. He said he'd have a project manager call me that day. No one called. Southers Construction LLC does not live up to their agreement. The job was not completed in a skillful manner. Souther's subcontracts out the job and does not adequately supervise. Through negligence, Southers Construction, is liable for repair work and interior damage. They will not return my call. Like many contractors...they try to bite off more jobs in less time. No deposit required, so I gave them a chance. My job was a relatively small job (4hours), but Tony did a great job with what appeared lots of knowledge and attention to detail. All 3 of the crew addressed my concerns and listened well. However, getting the correct/ necessary materials on site seemed a much greater challenge for the company. When guys came (twice...but 1st guy came didn't do work) no one knew what and where the work was to be done. They expected all materials to be here... I had to run to hardware store and get more materials. Jessica, in the office, was a great help listening to me and getting a crew here sooner rather than later. One of the reps came out and quoted me a price to fix it up that I was actually pleasantly surprised with because especially with how crazy I know material and labor prices are I was expecting to be gouged. Stay far away from these people! After trying several times to schedule an appointment they just randomly showed up at our house at 7:30AM with no supplies or anything. Luckily we had most of the supplies but it got worse from there. One guy used a tree branch to stir our paint, they smoked continuously and left cigarette butts behind, they wanted to use our bathroom but didn't have a mask to wear inside our home which made me very uncomfortable with this whole Covid-19 virus going on, the paint job they did on our siding was uneven, they placed siding on our lawn and killed large sections of grass, they left a lot of nails behind which I had to pick up, especially since I have a small child and didn't want her stepping on any of them, they were taking siding off and just throwing it on my bushes and herb garden which ended up flattening a good section of it, and the WORST part is that they never even ended up finishing the job! There are still two pieces of siding that need to be redone and the guy assured me he'd let me know when they'd be back before they left for the day...which he didn't. Called the company several times and finally got ahold of the owner Ricky. He assured me they'd be back out but the siding would take10 days to come in. That was on July 30th. I was an employee there until September of this year. In my time of being the project manager for the asphalt and rubber department I was bombarded with warranty repairs due to their lack of supervision on their subs. Not only did I have to clean up all their messes but the business is beginning to go under. Sub contractor checks started bouncing leaving these crews reaching to me for answers. Then employee payroll was taken off direct deposit because they couldn't keep up with their bills including suppliers making me unable to order materials. Then my final straw was them not having the money to make payroll. Just last week their whole employee payrolls checks bounced. They're trying to claw their way out by having their subs pay for projects. I'm now awaiting a labor board decision about 4 thousand dollars they owe me but ricky has already informed me that he will appeal it to go to superior court and take it even further. Not because they don't owe me the money as they owe a lot of past project managers as I've come to learn, he's simply not paying because this so called multi million dollar business is a smoke screen and they don't have the money they refused to pay me when I quit. A lifetime warranty isn't going to do you any good when they can't afford to pay their crews to fix their own mistakes. I tried to walk away peacefully and even offered for them to just cover the hole they put me in by giving me a bad ez pass transponder but they continue to not do the right thing. They're dishonest, greedy people that don't care about anything but taking your money. I've moved on to start my own business in which the goal is to be nothing like Ricky and the people who run this company. They are the poster children if corporate America. Just walking over and feeding off people. Funny that your project managers bring you in 2 million in a month and a day later you leave your employees with families out to dry without a paycheck to provide for their family. DO NOT HIRE...Stay clear of this company..dishonest is the one word i would use to describe..I have a whole history of their dishonesty but I will give one example...we needed a vent installed for our bathroom fan...they quoted an install using a insulated hose....They completed the install in less than an hour...the fan did not vent and was louder ....Turns out the installed a non insulated hose to start witb...when I confronted them they admitted it and simply said the insulated hose was not in stock...they came back and installed the insulated hose. Venting still did not work....I had a contractor look at the work..they bent the fan and they ran the insulation hose and just left it near a soffit...I had to hire a new company..replace the fan the broke to get the work done right. As an FYI if you do any research venting near a soffit is the wrong approach.....I sent them an email and they couldn't care less...no response. No apology, no accountability...I have all the emails and a complete log to back up what I am saying .... read more

Long story short, We used Southers to put a new roof on our house back in March our contractor Justin Corso is an awesome guy and represents the company well and to this day is still fighting for us to get things fixed. Also, our foreman Robinson was a great guy and the only reason the job was not a complete wreck. Our project manage Tyler (who no longer works for the company is a piece of trash). Now I will say that I am a veteran and was happy to go with a company that was Veteran owned but wow. If this is how you treat your customer then I am sorry to say that your company sucks and does not display ANY values. This was the longest two days and to this day we are still trying to get things fixed. The company came out and took two days to put a roof on our house but during this whole thing we had to baby sit them (I grew up roofing with my father and I am no expert but I know the basics). Rather then going into full detail (because this post would be a novel) I will just list off the things they did..... they didn't tarp the house which led to two window screens being broken, they broke a piece of the soffit and tried to jimmy rig it back on, they laid drip edge over exposed nail, they laid ice barrier down on a dirty roof. We did catch them with that one but there are still several sections that have ice barrier laid on a dirty roof ( we will know which ones when the eventually release) They had to tear up a section of roof they had just laid because they forgot to put flashing down in two sections that needed it and then tried to relay the ice barrier that they had just torn up. We still have drip edge that have gaps in them. One section of our house has a rubberized roof and the project manage said the plywood didnt need to be replaced. Which it absolutly did because that is where the leak opened up and completly saturated the plywood. Thanks to Robisnon for stepping up and showing Tyler that wood was infact rotted. On the rubber roof they missed a bend (due to rushing) and now a section of the roof (about 2 inches) is overhanging. I don' know how that is going to hold up come this winter. Will it hold the weight of snow and ice? Tyler also got cused out by my wife and my wife is the most timid person ever. so for her to lose it someone she doesn't know takes a lot. So here we are now 7 MONTHS later and i still don't have my screens fixed and none of the other issues that have been brought up have been taken care of. Justin is doing all he can to help but we are beyond pissed off at this point. Every time we get assigned a new project manager we get ghosted or that person leaves the company. SO while yes the roof does look good, How long will it actaully last since the crew took short cut after short cut. And to this day we are still finding debris because they didn't tarp properly or clean up properly. They also destroyed my wifes garden beds. So if you want a roof done fast and short cuts taken and not knowing how long your roof is going to last then go with Southers (They also have a life time warranty on their work but aparently they take a lifetime todo anyting about problems that come up) If you want a roof done right go with another company. Again having a company Veteran owned and boasting about that but then treating customers like shit and not doing anything to help them when their people mess up is an absolute disgrace. Setup a visit for an estimate to replace my roof for Friday at 1:30pm. Received a call at 1:21pm telling me they would be late. Probably 2 to 2.5 hours late as previous estimate "is a bigger than they thought". I rearranged my schedule for Saturday to have them come out at noon, cancelling other family engagements. At 12:10pm on Saturday, no call no show. I called them. They were still in Hampton, NH, 45 minutes away "on their way to see me". I told them not to bother. We had new vinyl siding installed on our home in September. Southers' crew did an exceptional job. They showed up on time. Left the site clean. When they discovered rot, they made sure a long-term fix was done so that the exterior would be secure for years to come. We also had a balcony removed and a new Pella window installed. Southers helped facilitate the window installation. In addition, we had a new overhang built and our chimney flashing repaired. We could not have hoped for a better experience. He quoted a job for 4 days and then took 9 days to complete. The 2 men showed up at 10am and left at 4pm for all 9 days. I figured that was about 4 full days work but we got the bill and he had charged for 9 full days work, doubling the hours actually worked. Even though I was home to keep track of hours worked, he refused to admit they weren't there the entire hours billed. They left nails all over the gravel driveway. We have had 3 flat tires already.
