First issue, he rescheduled twice and it ended up being over three weeks from the original date he gave me for him to get here. That caused problems for the person who was installing my fence, which is why I needed the trees removed as soon as possible. Now the fence guy is out money because his schedule got messed up by blocking time for my job. Derek gave me a verbal quote of $5,200 to remove five large pine trees and grind the stumps. Once he started the removal, he said the crane might not reach one of the trees, but he would adjust the price. He did not offer another alternative for removing that tree. When it was time to settle up Derek said he remember quoting me $5,400. However, I had two people there with me that also heard him quote $5,200. I didn't appreciate him acting like I was trying to pull a fast one. When I asked what the new cost would be without removing the fifth tree. (Thinking 5 trees at $5,200 it would be about $900) He said no the cost is $5,200, and when I questioned him about it he said he was trying to buy a house. I'm not one to haggle but I felt like I was being taken advantage of and so I said what about $5,000. Thinking something off was better than the zero he was offering. His response was, if that would make me feel better than that would be fine. Apparently by not arguing with him, he thought I was okay with the cost and the fact that he didn't feel the need to do the right thing. In summary, Derek did take down four trees and took them away. They left hydraulic fluid stains on my recently pressure washed driveway that are not coming out. I would expect the owner to have enough knowledge about his business to know how to protect a clients property. Especially since he prides himself in being such a good salesman! First rule in sales under promise and over deliver.
