I often…read moreshop at Burney True Value Hardware as it is convenient and I have always liked to support local businesses over the chains like Home Depot and Lowes. Today, was my FINAL shopping experience at Burney. I had purchased a few screws for a project a week or so ago and didn't need them. Today, I tried to return them and buy some more items. I thought I had the receipt in the bag but I did not seem to have it with me. I asked if I could return them without the receipt. The total for the four screws was a whopping .82. I was told that they couldn't return them without the receipt as they have hundreds of SKU numbers and they wouldn't know which one I was returning. This made logical sense until I looked at my bag a little further. The gentleman that helped me pick out the screws didn't seem to write down the SKU number on my bag! How was it rung up when I purchased it? I assume by some generic key that charged me the .82, the same generic key that could have refunded my .82! Sorry Burney you lost me for good over this one, shame on your staff!

The tech called Stihl and sent them pictures trying to get them to deny doing the warranty. The saw had a scratch from where it sits on my trailer. The tech told Stihl I did some crazy stuff when he didn't even know. So Stihl denied it. I called Stihl and they told me they don't know why the tech called and sent them pictures trying to get it denied but they said yea clear warranty problem. I've emailed the store several times trying to speak with a manager and the won't respond. They kept my saw for two months before they called me and said we can't fix under warranty. Now I have to take saw to different shop out my area. Sorry place. Hate I spent so much money there

Any problem, I gather them together like a football game huddle, tell them my chores and strategy, we yell "Break!" and away we go. Ok maybe not like that, but whenever I need extra attention, they have always come through. The garden center is huge with just about any yard, nursery, or patio need. The pond section (which is my 80% needs) is well stocked and seldom an issue finding stuff...yes stuff. Always in need of more stuff. Must make mention of Miss Ava whom I've bothered over the years for help. Customer service is always overwhelmed, but if you stick with them, they handle it for you. Of course its not always peaches n cream. However, thats the nuts and bolts of it all. Patience.

Needed parts for a Stihl chainsaw that I did not believe I could get elsewhere nearby. Had driven quite a ways and gotten out of work early just to do this. I did express my dismay but did not use any profanity or make any personal remarks. At the time I was more upset with myself for having bought a Stihl chainsaw (as I am now finding out that it is not as easy to get parts for as most other brands). At any rate, I saw the same guy who would not let me in the store about an hour later at another hardware store (quite a coincidence) and the guy started mocking me. I was appreciative of the quick assistance with placing my order and with loading the lumber…read more However, I was extremely disappointed by the treatment I received from the manager while selecting lumber in the yard. While I was carefully choosing pieces that were good enough for my project (not perfect, just suitable), the manager approached me unannounced in a raised voice with a disrespectful tone to express his disapproval. After a short exchange, he left and allowed me to finish selecting on my own. He seemed upset that I was inspecting the lumber at all, apparently expecting customers to simply take whatever was handed to them without any quality check. This expectation would only make sense if the lumber truly lived up to the claim of "high-quality building materials at reasonable prices that outperform the big box stores." Unfortunately, that was not the case. The lumber here had the same quality issues I experienced earlier in the day at Lowe's -- warped, twisted, and inconsistent pieces that clearly had not been pre-inspected by staff. In the end, the responsibility for quality control is left entirely to the customer. I've bought lumber at McDonald on numerous occasions. Always treated with respect and no time criticized for inspecting the lumber prior to accepting the lumber purchased. In my opinion (yea I know) the quality of McDonald lumber, priced higher than Lowes, is of the same quality as the big box stores. When purchasing lumber, regardless the vendor, always inspect prior to accepting.
