Rudd's tech "Hayden"did a great job with this industrial size water heater. Most recently I contacted Rudd for an estimate on replacing the HVAC duct work in my crawl space. Well little did I know the main Sewage drain had been leaking. My Rudd tech "Steven Ross" was quick with a quote and they replaced my entire drainage system and got it up to code. Steven was very professional and worked extremely hard for two days getting me back on line with our water line. Steven is a very knowledgeable and personable employee. The service techs were always polite, knowledgeable and courteous. If there was an issue with our units, they would suggest a few options we could do and the prices were never outrageous. This past weekend, we had an issue. The outside temps reached 117F, and we woke up Sunday morning to a leak in my kitchen...the furnace is right above the kitchen area and it was pouring out of a pot light..what a mess...I got on the phone with Brian, and he gave me a few solutions and we made an appointment for them to come out..they couldn't come out on Sunday but we were scheduled for Monday! I spoke to him a few times Sunday, sending pictures and explaining what was going on and we followed his suggestions and within a couple hours, the leak stopped!! I am so thankful that I was able to cancel my Monday appointment. Everything was running perfectly...I am super happy with the service Brian gave me. Shaun came out the next day to check my system and had me up and running shortly after. I was only low on freon. I contacted him a couple of summers later. He asked me to look at my unit to see if it was frosted. It indeed was. He told me to completely turn the unit off so it would defrost overnight. His quick thinking saves us from having two nights of misery. When he arrived the next day the unit was defrosted and he was able to look at it and get it back up and running. Had the unit not been defrosted he would have to either wait until the next day, or turn on the heat to defrost the unit quicker. That little gesture to call and ask me to check my unit saved us so much time and effort. I trust Air Handlers for my HVAC service needs and you should, too. I recently hired Preferred Home Services when I had an issue with a digital thermostat. Their tech…read morewas extremely helpful and was able to replace the unit, but I was floored by the total cost of the visit. The service call was on a Sunday, so I certainly understand the premium charge. But I was essentially charged $500 for labor to unplug and plug in a new thermostat (a $200 part). No new wiring, just plug and play. The tech did check the furnace and air conditioner, but my total bill was $700. Again, I understand the Sunday premium charge, but a $500 labor charge is way too extreme. I'm rating them a 3, only because the tech was very helpful, but I would have rated them much lower because of an obvious price gouging practice that this company uses, which was extremely disappointing. I've learned a very hard lesson to never use them again..
