I guess I was lucky, but he was able to fit me in on Saturday after I filed with the HW company on Friday; their web site suggests they are closed on Saturday. No fancy truck or anything, just a knowledgeable tech and with a down-to-business attitude that I appreciate this day and age.

His "alternative" to me paying the $45 warranty and him submit a picture to get the rest of the money from them was for me to pay $100 for the part and have it shipped to my house, then he would come over and install it for "about $80". So, basically bypass my warranty/re-dismemberment and I pay for it all. And he was determined that this sounded fair. Just stay away.
