Poor service and trust issues. To start, this VP said he could get me closed as soon as 10 days...what a crock. I had all documents ready but they couldn't make up there minds on what I needed. I was sending in documents right up to the closing date. The requirements just kept changing. Nothing they say can be trusted. The VP gave me the closing cost and when I ask how he got to that number he ghosted me. Three days later I got a document with a different number. This happened more that a few times. He failed to include my realtor and even reached out to the brokers attorney. After he received the appraisal that I paid for, he send three photos and then told me I could have the document. It took more than four days for me to see the document after several days of lies. Needless to say, none of the numbers he gave me were ever right, but the excuses were always there...it was always someone else's fault. Now for the irony; I was contacted by the companies management and asked if I would talk to them about my experience. I agreed and they set a date and time for this to take place. I received numerous texts and calls about the time and who I would be speaking too (Pete Peters). The time came and went with no call. So I really shouldn't be give a bad review to the VP because his leadership does the same thing. Do not at any time use this company. You will regret it and once you are too far down the road to turn back they will show their true colors. Poor service and untrustworthy company from the top to bottom. read more

I contacted Southeast Mortgage on June 29th for a refinance of my home in Dacula, Ga. Russ Strange was my lone officer. We submitted everything that was requested of me by Russ. Russ and I had several email conversations regarding why we needed the refinance and he worked out a refinance offer in which the appraised was to come in between 420K and 440K. It was hard to find Russ at times so we resorted to corresponding through email. After submitting comps for the appraiser to review and expressing my own anger and frustration with "the process," Russ finally sent over the documents to e-sign. Then I had to wait for the processor and underwriters to do their "thing." Today on July 8th Russ called and stated that he made a mistake in giving my wife credit for two pensions instead of one, therefore negating the whole deal. As Executive Vice-President, Russ should have known better than do what he obviously did. Be careful out there fellow refinancers. It is very hard to trust Russ Strange. I also want to say that there was little or no apology from Russ over the hard work of submitting documents and getting our house ready to be appraised. Russ made a $6,000 mistake on my file. There is simply no excuse for this. Southeast Mortgage and Russ Strange should be made to give me a refinance mortgage for their and Russ's mistake. read more

Isaac and Southeast Mortgage are the BEST! This is the second home purchase we've made with Isaac and would never consider going anywhere else. He's thorough, intentional, trustworthy, and supportive. Truly the best care around! read more

Isaac Berry of Southeast Mortgage was incredibly helpful, in all the guidance he provided to us. His unparalleled expertise was invaluable in the extremely complex mortgage process we were experiencing on both the buy side and sell side. He wasn't even responsible for our sell side, but he still contributed excellent advice. We have been buying and selling our homes for 5 decades. We have never had anyone close to Isaac in looking out for our best interests. And he's a groovy guy. My highest possible recommendation! read more

Jamie Bailey helped my son get loan approval for a last-minute offer he put in for a home. It was very last minute and Jamie worked hard to get the approval within just a few hours. Unfortunately, my son's offer was not the best, but we will definitely be sticking with Jamie as our lender of choice. read more

I have been on a search to purchase a home. I dealt with Jamie Bailey. At first she sounded so nice and made me feel like she was going to represent me along the way. My credit was ran and I got pre-approved for an amount that wasn't too bad. So, I wasn't sure of my next steps. I called Ms. Bailey, and she showed no interest in speaking with me. She claimed she was on another call and would call me back. Never did. I called the next day, the young lady asked for my name, all of a sudden I received a message that the caller was either on another call or away from her desk. I left a voicemail. She still never returned my call. Regardless if the amount approved was good or bad, the professional thing to do is communicate. I would not have been disappointed with any results. I wanted to know what I needed to do to just start. I know I have work to do. But I was able to go through a realtor and another lending company that got me approved for something else. I guess it wasn't enough funds to spike her interest. But the least you could do is respond and inform. YOU ACCESSED MY CREDIT and said NOTHING IN RETURN. That was and is very distasteful and unprofessional. These hits on a person credit drops their score. But for every weapon thrown, there is a Blessing! Good luck to anyone who decides to work with Jamie Bailey. I pray it is a better turnout! read more

Wayne Owens is very prompt and professional. I highly recommend him. He is very knowledgeable. He will make sure anyone can buy a home.

I was under contract with a family member. A few days before closing Jamie Bailey had a conversation with the buyer. She gave him false information and advised him to pull out of the contract resulting in him losing almost 5K. When I questioned Jamie about it to get more details on why she wanted to terminate the contract. Jamie ignored all texts and emails. I escalated the issue to her superior John. John then, advised the buyer he in fact could move forward. I was able to revive the contract and we closed less than 2 weeks later. This was no thanks to Jamie as she almost cost me and the buyer a lot of money. I still have not heard anything from SE Mortgage with an explanation or apology regarding what happened. BEWARE! read more

Up until two days before closing, this would have been a positive review. However, my daughter, who is 22 years old and embarking on her first home purchase, was inadvertently copied on a shocking email exchange between Southeast Mortgage's Sales Assistant/Processor, Alice Moody, and Assistant VP and Senior Mortgage Loan Originator, Lisa Ott. Screenshots of the email exchange are attached. The emails between these two women reveal a hidden and disturbing prejudice that was masked by smiles and platitudes. In his bio on https://southeastmortgage.com/who-we-are/meet-our-leadership/cal-haupt/Southeast Mortgage's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Cal Haupt, espouses "It is important to me that I provide experiences for my kids that will create depth and better understand how the world works." Indeed, Alice Moody and Lisa Ott certainly provided my daughter with an unmistakable, firsthand experience of just how ugly the world can be. read more

No communication, they will take extra money out of your escrow account which will make it be short when its time for the escrow analysis so they can just turnaround and raise your mortgage. This company is the worse and they may want to be careful because they are gonna have a lawsuit waiting on them. You can't just play around with people money, then when you contact them all of sudden you can't get anyone on the phone or to even respond to an email. Atlanta, Ga read more

What a smooth and professional process it was to relocate to Georgia. And it was due much to the loan officer and the processing staff at Southeast Mortgage of Georgia. I would highly recommend them. Overall great communication throughout the process. read more

trusted southeast mortgage because my realtor recommended, got the loan disclosure and was charging me points to get me to a below average interest rate. I have stellar credit, high income and almost zero debt. I've purchased four homes in the past and always received the lower market interest rate. after calling Brian got some double talk like I was uninformed, showed me some chart with no headers and fed me some silly explanation, as an informed buyer with an MBA, I knew I was getting a poor rate and a used car dealer explanation. After cancelling The contract with my real estate agent I received a text from brian stating he would get me to a better rate. Shop around and be careful, this place will overcharge you and try and sell you some double talk read more

Non-communicative, not friendly, not professional. I had issues with my realtor who chose SE Mortgage, and I wish that I had done more research on both. I was a first time home buyer with a nearly perfect credit score and (very) small down payment. I didn't think that there would be any issues at all. My original closing date and the day I actually closed were nearly two months apart. The day of my actual closing, I was called at work asking if I was ready to close. I was given absolutely no warning, I had to leave my very busy doctors office to close on my house. The stress was immense. Please do some research. Southeast Mortgage and Keller Williams really let me down. read more

TLDR- I would give zero stars if Yelp would allow it I had the misfortune of selecting Southeast Mortgage from a preferred lenders list provided by the builder of my new home. It came with a promise of $25,000 towards closing costs. On first contact Pete Peters assured me that it would cover all of closing costs with some leftover to further buy down the rate and not to worry about origination fees. Throughout the underwriting process Southeast Mortgage was extremely difficult to work with and I was repeatedly told things like my work union contract wasn't official enough. The initial loan estimate came in with a 6.25% rate and when the finalized paperwork arrived the rate jumped to 6.5% and over $30,000 in closing costs above the $25k we were promised. We reached out to a second lender on the list and were able to get a quote of 5.99% and significantly less in closing costs. I sent it to Pete and told him if he were to match the rate and remove the $5k originating fee we could move forward. He assured me he would match it and remove the originating fees. The next round or loan estimates had the rate matched but even higher closing costs. Upon further inspection the originating cost line was removed but was added and increased elsewhere in the contract, and the full $25k lender credit was missing. When we called Pete and told him he was missing the full amount and he told us he didn't need to give it to us. After further argument he said he could give us the promised amount but would have to raise the rate again. We decided we were done with their slimy and predatory business tactics and took our business elsewhere. read more

I have worked with Brian Mixon for many years. He has provided my customers with great service. He's the Best in the Business.

They got it together and in the end we were able to close a few days after our original closing date. Shawn Pharr and his team are great. I highly recommend them with any mortgage lending inquiries. Great rates and great follow through.

If I could give this company no stars that's what they would get. Unprofessional, rude and shady. Them along with Rockhaven homes community builders. My husband and I tried to purchase and signed a contract since April. Now five mths later this company is asking him to do so much more and telling him he no longer qualifies after letting him jump through hurdles. April is the rudest person I've dealt with in service. She behaves as if we are begging her money from her personal bank account and shouts and talk down to my husband. I told him if it were me I'd let her know that's not acceptable. We moved from a different state and changed our life and they gave no regards for that. They work along with the seller just because they wanted to sell the property for more money and southeast acted as if the builder is their customer not us. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY ARE NO GOOD!!!! read more

I would never ever recommend this lender to anyone I don't appreciate the lender disclosing my financial situation to my realtor. The realtor may provide some other generic information, but it is against the law for lender and realtor to discuss details of the borrower's credit. Absolutely dreadful. I would try anyone else other than Southeast. As an agent in GA, "issues" always come up when southeast is involved in the deal. Similar to how a 3rd grader acts, southeast will constantly blame other people for the delays instead of accepting responsibility for themselves. They've caused my clients HUNDREDS of dollars in extra fees from their delays and, in one case, they cost my client the house they were trying to buy b/c they couldn't get their act together on time. "it's just a busy time of the year/month/week/day" is a common excuse as is "i'm just waiting on the appraiser" (an excuse used for nearly 3 weeks one time). They are, without a doubt, the least honorable and truthful lender I've ever worked with. They had no problem lying our faces at every turn. And who can you complain to? Their management is even slimier than their front line mortgage brokers. As an agent, I will not work with any client who wants to use this lender - that's how strongly I feel that southeast will mess up the transaction and cause unnecessary delays. read more

If you are thinking about this mortgage company DONT!!!!! If we could give them negative stars we would. This is the worst experience my husband and i have ever had. If you are self employed or a Veteran don't waste your time, this company will put you thru hoops and you won't get the loan. We were preapproved for a loan but when we got closer to the closing date everything started to fall thru. Southeast Mortgage and their loan officer Demetrius Lockett waited until the day before our closing date to tell us we didn't get the loan knowing that we were moving from another state and were going to be homeless if we didn't get this house before our apt lease was up. Demetrius Lockett lacks communication skills and will leave you in the dark throughout your entire process. Southeast Mortgage is incompetent when it comes to VA loans and Business owners. This is an experience we would not want anyone to go through. PICK ANOTHER COMPANY!!! We have reported them to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau read more

I can not imagine a worse mortgage company. I purchased my home through SE Mortgage because the builder "preferred" them. Well after my experience even the builder was considering leaving them. I basically had to call the VA and do his job for him because he refused. read more

This company is the worst they have mislead my client and myself and we are iunder contract with DR Horton and they reneged on the $10,000 BUYER INCENTIVE .. they promised my client and said because she didn't make a 620 credit score they wouldn't give it to her, i have never in my 21 years of selling homes i have never seen a buider or mortgage company pull a stunt like this ... I will be back to give the whole story but i had to call texas and the vp had to step in ... south eastern mortgage still didnt pay any of the incentive that they promised but DR horton paid $7,500 also they increased her mortgage from $1,600 to $1,800 to $1,900 if you see this company run she also went from bring $8,000 to closing to know $13,000 to closing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Run don't walk from this company. Their fees are much higher than the rest and they try to justify it as there salaries for underwriters and processors etc etc. their processors can't pay attention to detail to save their life making it where you are having to do duplicate work. They give you fake clear to closes just for things to fall through at the end unless your will to jump through 8 more steps. The managers are PETTYYY! trying to justify spending $500 more a year for what??? Makes no sense. I used this company initially in 2017 had a bad experience. Thought I would try one more and it was a catastrophe every step of the way. They hire really smooth talkers because that's the only way you will con a person into refinancing with them. Mike Saltzman +1 (678) 551-0306 is way better at Loan Happy got the deal done with reasonable requirements and no bull in the process. read more

This entire process has been a nightmare. Discussed with Eric that my rate would be under 4% and told by realtor my closing costs would be close @ $3500. In actually, had to pay 1% origination fee to get 4.125% rate and had closing costs @ $4800. Each time I signed the fee disclosure and called to discuss, was told it would come way down; that was just the highest it could be but in actuality only came down $400. When I protested final fees was threatened that I wouldn't be able to close on time (2 days later) if I didn't pay the closing costs. Worst experience I have ever had. Terry Wassink read more

The communication with Jeffrey Hawks was lacking to say the least. He never initiated contact with me and every time I spoke with him it seemed as though I was bothering him. I inquired about a lower interest rate and he didn't "recall" us ever having that conversation, which most likely resulted in me having to pay more for my loan. Lynne Jones, and the other members of his team were great. When they sent an email, they also called to let me know and expressed their willingness to answer any questions that I had. Because of them, I'm not giving a one star rating. I don't know about the other loan officers, but based on my experience with Jeff, I would not recommend Southeast Mortgage. read more

Steer clear of Southeast Mortgage! Buying a home is a major and often stressful event in a person's life without added layers of incompetence and lack of professionalism.
