I went there to price 12 by 24 cement pavers. There are no prices posted at the place so they can tell you whatever they think you might pay. I asked the man at the counter for the price of item 41 he did not even know. He then made up a price of 19 dollars for 12 by 24 cement pavers. The big box stores have them for 6 to 9 dollars. Our front lawn had some bald spots we needed to fill so we stopped by Southeast Construction to purchase some pebbles. We got a great deal on California Gold. I asked for delivery and the very helpful staff suggested I rent a truck to save some money. I took her advice and paid 1/3 of what I would have paid for delivery, I picked up a truck came back and they filled the bed with a generous scoop. My front lawn looks great after a couple hours of a good workout and a shovel. Excellent deal and beautiful product. Highly recommend them! No matter the size of your project, they have just about everything that you may need to complete your job. They have multiple locations around Southern California, and I have been to two of their locations, South El monte, and this one, located in Covina. Both places are great, fully stocked, friendly & helpful service. But the Covina location, far exceeded my expectations for customer service. The guy that helped me, I believe his name was Ernie, he was great, so friendly, and extremely helpful in assisting me in my remodeling project. He made my purchase and delivery of my building materials so easy. So because of the great service I received from him, I'm making this location my primary go to store, even though this location is slightly further from me, than the El Monte location. 5 stars from me. read more

If you are hard up for stone, brick, rock, this is your place. Fellows on staff are helpful, prices pretty good, yard spacious and full of stuff for your hardscape needs. AND if you need gravel, the prices here are MUCH better than Home Depot. Open till only noon on Saturdays. I bought 4 tons 3" stone for a wall at my sister's house, and about 6 tons gravel to shore up some erosion problems. Just be careful about the loading. On one of my trips, the goons were terribly careless...put a torn open 100lb bag of sand in my Explorer and just dumped stuff where it didn't belong. I recently took up rock painting and had purchased a few bags of rocks at the larger home warehouses but the rocks were always oddly shaped and very expensive. I found Southeast on Yelp and swung by to see what they had. I explained to the two men in the store what I was looking for and they were very helpful. The man who drove the forklift put the bags of rocks in my trunk was also very kind. I ended up purchasing two 75lb bags of rocks. Ok if you need a scoop or two of sand and gravel and picking up yourself, otherwise stick to the big stores or try Resource Building Materials. Ordered 8 pallets of material, give me a different story every time i call on delivery estimate. I took a sample of the decorative red lava rock I have in front of my house so that I could get some more to complete the coverage. the sales clerk, Manual, looked at my sample and I told me that they carried it. I loaded up the 6 thirty-six pound bags, which were opaque and foggy from water condensation, and took them home. When I opened a bag and poured it out next to my red rock it looked way different,. almost purple. A week or two later I found time to scoop the rock back into the bag and return all of them. When I got there Manual I took no responsibility for giving me the wrong product even though that is the only color they carry. I had to argue loudly with him and another employee to get reimbursed and then their credit card machine was not working so I have to make a third trip to get my money back. I shouldn't have to argue when it wasn't my mistake. I will not do business with them anymore. read more

Ive bought 3000-4000 last few weeks from them. Had some returns they nit picked, which where in many cases no different from how i bought them. I was charged restocking fees which was never discussed when asked if okay to return any extras from the project and never done this before on my returns, then was told it was at there discretion, they then made a mistake and forgot to refund 1 item had to go back again. I came here to get a quote for my customer. I received a price and weight of the product with delivery charge. I came back today, 3 weeks later to place the order. I did not have the original quote because the customer lost the paperwork. The new quote was way way off from original figure The new calculated weight of the crushed rock now came out to 5 tins more. The old quote also had me down as buying b the scoop , not by the ton on the new quote, necessary the total different price and weight. The guy who "helped me today just had a straight out attitude. When I questioned home about the differences in quotes, he told me that, if I liked, he can charge me double by going with the original quote. Wtf? Ya that's what I want, to be charged double. Then when I asked if the keep original quotes, he said yes. They will have to track down whoever gave the quote and go through ALL of their paperwork. This was also said with a sarcastic attitude. Bought 7 small boxes of veneer el dorado cliff stones for a fireplace remodel. The boxes are open and stored in outdoor racks exposed to the weather and that is okay, they suppose to look like rocks. I only used 5 boxes and tried to return 2 boxes and the refused saying that I picked stones out of the boxes and once you take the stones out of the box you cant return them. On the back of the receipt is the return policy that does not state anything about if you take stones out of open boxes you cant return them. Bottom line if you can buy product from the home depot or lowes dont buy it from Southeast they have the worst customer service. read more

After reading other reviews I felt I needed to write one also. This location has a great selection and its nice to see products up close in large amounts. I went in on a Saturday to ask pricing on some river rock and was quoted 12 cents a pound. The guy helping me opened a book to look up the price. OK sounds good. I know how much I need and know approx total price now. I'll be back to order. Came in a few days later to place my order. Goofy bald guy (was he bald? I dont remember, Im never coming back anyways) helped me at the desk. Told him I need X amount pounds of river rock. He told me they dont sell by the pound. Wait what? I told him I was quoted per pound just a couple days before. "Sorry bub we dont sell by the pound." YOUR PRODUCTS ALL HAVE POUNDS ON THEM. He tells me they sell by the big huge scoop and even by the shovel full if I need just a little. It was clear he was just making stuff up at this point. His price for the big scoop sounded like it was far more $$$ than what I would have gotten by the pound. Not worth the time or effort going here and playing games with prices. Too bad... DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. We spent a lot of money here on artificial grass. We were told the grass had a $15 fee to cut it. We thought he meant into 2pieces as we originally wanted. When we got the roll it was a BIG PIECE OF FAKE GRASS. THE FEE WAS TO CUT IT FROM THE LARGER ROLL THE COMPANY OWNS. WHO CHARGES THE CUSTOMER TO CUT FROM THE LARGER ROLL??! Now we are stuck with a crazy piece of large grass with no way to cut it!! They would prbly charge us twice to pick it and redeliver it. My mom and I stopped in this weekend because this place is very near our home. Other than several smirks from the guys behind the counter when we said we wanted to lay brick pavers ourselves, the staff was friendly enough. However, from my own comparison shopping out the bricks we were looking to buy are the exact same brand carried by Lowe's. Lowe's is not only significantly cheaper per brick, their delivery is less, they don't charge for the palettes AND they let you choose how many bricks you buy. Getting prices and information from them is tedious, at best. They will do anything they can to stay behind the counter, (preferably sitting on a stool) are borderline rude, and truly act like they do not care about the customer at all. However, now I am disappointed with how this company did not allow me to exchange a certain product that I bought accidentally in the wrong size. I was told that they had been worn and torn, when in fact they were just in my truck and would of course accumulate some dust that can easily be washed away- the soles are completely undamaged and unworn.
