I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the work done by this company. Quality all the way, with…read moreexcellent work done at a reasonable price. You get a licensed Arborist, not just a guy who cuts down trees. The owner/Arborist is an artist and an acrobat in trees 100 feet tall. His work was better than I could have hoped for and was exactly what I had asked him and his workers to do. My request was very difficult: to remove 5 pine (spruce) trees that were growing up and through a huge, ancient (possibly 250 years old) red oak tree that is being considered as one of Connecticut's notable trees. Most of the pine trees were over 100 feet tall. This was no easy task, because the red oak had to be pruned and protected, while cutting down and disentangling all the pines from within its branches. They did a GREAT JOB! The Arborist and his workers were not only extremely helpful in their communication with me, but were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, timely, and not only did an exceptional job on removing the 5 trees. but also, a great job at cleaning up, removing all the debris, and protecting the yard. My home, my yard, my red oak tree, and even my driveway looked perfect when they finished. The Arborist even looks out for animal nests and baby animals while cutting trees. What could be better! I am happy to give a well-deserved top-notch 5 Star-Rating to the owner/Arborist Mike Strubhar and his workers. The Orion Tree Co. is the BEST tree company our there!

I called Orion Tree Company, and they were extremely helpful and knowledgable about all the possible angles I could take. They came out and removed a load dead branches, leaving a flawless clean up in their wake. Not even a twig left on the lawn after an understandably messy trimming process while they addressed the dead branches. We're going to try a fertilizer treatment later in the season, as per their suggestion. They were very transparent, as far as how practical or realistic any course of action we might take - our tree is most likely going to die, so with the treatment suggestion they also warned that there was no guarantee this would work, and we would most likely lose the tree anyways. I wouldn't hesitate to refer Orion Tree Company if you're looking for a professional arborist.

I have used several tree services over the years, and while I have had good experiences with all of them, none have been as efficient, professional, and impressive as Witkowski & Sons. The crew today consisted of Joe, the leader, along with Abel and Willy. From the moment they arrived, they were friendly, professional, courteous, and extremely careful--especially around my septic fields, which was very important to me. I watched them from my window, and I couldn't get over how hard they worked--and yet they made it look almost effortless. They worked as a team, knew exactly what they were doing, and took great care with my property. When they were finished, everything was cleaned up beautifully. My only advice to anyone considering Witkowski & Sons is this: If you have to wait for them, they are absolutely worth the wait. I will definitely be calling them again in the future. In fact, I already want them back to do some light pruning of several rare ornamental trees in the front of my property. I trust them completely with my trees and my property. And a special word about Joe: he is stellar. His work ethic, professionalism, politeness, and genuinely friendly manner make him a tremendous asset to the company. He clearly takes pride in his work and in making sure the customer is satisfied. Thank you, Witkowski & Sons, Joe, Abel, and Willy, for an outstanding job. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend you!

I didn't do a moisture test yet, but knocking many pieces together it seemed like most pieces sounded dry. As far as volume, you definitely get a full cord and then some. I stacked the wood and definitely got my 128 cubic feet worth. I did ask how they seasoned the wood, and like just about everyone else they pile it up for about a year or so. Any accomplished wood burner can tell you that is no way to properly season wood, so in actuality the wood I paid for is probably only 1/2 way seasoned. My recommendation for buying wood from anyone in Connecticut is to buy "seasoned" wood in the Spring, store it exposed to sun/wind all summer and then it will be good to go by winter. 4 stars. 3 stars for excellent service, delivering the wood within 24 hours of my call, and 1 extra star for selling the seasoned wood at a reasonable price. They don't get a final star because the seasoning is a little suspect.

Sandweiss is consistently less expensive than their competitors, and you get what you pay for. Based on about a year and a half of trying to work with them, communicating with them is extremely slow and frustrating. They are very bad at managing and communicating schedules. Last January they took down a very large tree in a very visible location in our yard. They had to take down part of an adjacent hedge to access the tree, which I understand, but they did discuss it with us ahead of time. After the fact, they told us verbally that they would replace the shrub. After 9 months and many, many attempts to follow up with them, they have not replaced the shrub.
