We had a huge, beautiful old ash tree that had to come down. We spoke to a number of tree-removal companies and are glad we chose Bart's Trees. Dependable, highly competent, thoughtful crew. I don't know how they were able to climb as high as they did... it's clear this is a specialized craft. They were very careful about lowering the branches after cutting them. It was a long day but they finished the job, not leaving until the last branch was chipped and loaded into the truck. Matt also injected the remaining, mostly healthy ash tree -- we're hoping it can be saved. I was happy to see many dead emerald ash borers had fallen out of the tree for several days afterward. We will definitely use them again. read more

They are by far, the best tree service in our area. They were recommended by our cousin. I was terrified since the tree was so tall and close to the house. I couldn't believe how well they did this massive tree with their crane! Not one scrap of tree was left. They do an amazing job for reasonable prices. Had them come by again this year and my big tree was suffering root rot. My back piece of tree stump also had rotted from the inside out. In no time at all, they were removed. Bart and his team are fantastic. They give an estimate and when they put you on their calendar, they show up. So happy we are their customers. But to us they feel like friends!~Ev and Paul Adams read more

If you are looking for a professional service then Barts is the way to go. They came in and out and got the job done fast like the mafia. You'd never know they were even here had you not known about the trees. They were very nice, punctual and thorough in planning each tree in the most cost effective and safe way. They took down a huge dead ash tree that was in a dangerous spot, right next to several wires and the house. They did an excellent job and did everything they promised. read more

Very professional! Barts tree service removed two trees and trimmed another very large tree near power lines at a reasonable price. They were quick responding when we had questions and provided proof of all licensing required. Barts arrived when they said they would and left the property in very good condition despite a difficult property to maneuver on. read more

From the moment I requested a quote I was impressed With Barts Tree Service. I received an immediate response- which is rare these days and the customer service never stopped. We settled on a price - which was competitive and very reasonable. They showed up when they said they would and Matt the owner came to finalize any changes and check on any questions. I had 3 large Hickory trees cut down and several pruned. They finished in a day and a half and removed and chipped everything. Left the pieces I wanted to season and burn - even cut them to size for me. The guys were friendly and clearly experts at what they do. I still have several very large pine trees that need to come down. I will definitely be using Barts Tree Service again. read more

Matt Bartelme & Barts Tree Service is, by far, one of the most professionally managed tree service businesses AND overwhelmingly generous donors to community organizations and non-profits. Matt is the only call you need to make for consult and/or service. I like to do business with those that care about the communities they work in and no one does that better than Barts Tree Service. Thank you, Matt. read more

I have had the pleasure of working with Bart's Tree Service. It was a remarkable experience and I would like to take this opportunity to strongly recommend them. First, it was Bart's Tree Service's dedication to our community that first attracted me to call them when I needed two large trees removed. Every community event and fundraiser seems to have them as sponsors. I try to shop local and value organizations that support the community. They clearly care about the communities in which they operate. However, upon calling them, it was truly the professionalism of their service that was beyond expectations. Matt showed up the day I contacted him to quote the removal cost and gave me a figure on the spot. To my surprise, the rate were less than I had guessed they would be. He was pleasant and I awarded him the job on the spot. When the crew showed up (on a date sooner than originally promised), they were true experts at their craft. Both trees were down and site left spotless within hours. Every leaf, every stick, every branch was gone. It is for these reasons and others that I offer high recommendations for Matt and his crew at Bart's Tree services without reservation. His abilities and talents are top notch and he personally is a great person to interact with. read more

This company took down a few trees for my next door neighbor on 8-26-2020 in Redding, CT 06896. They dropped two very large trees (without pruning or limbing them) onto my property at in Redding, CT 06896 by accident (they were supposed to drop them in the other direction) and destroyed two other very large trees on my property leaving much damage including two very large widow makers where my kids play. They came out and said they would rectify the issue, confirmed that it was their fault and mistake, and stated they would be back in a few days to clean up and remove the trees that they dropped as well as the damaged trees, many weeks later, they have not returned calls, emails or rectified the issue. My neighbors and I have attempted to contact them numerous times with no response. I called their insurance that is listed on their website, they do not currently have an active policy per the listed insurance provider. read more

There were several large trees on my property that needed removal. I put this task off for several years because of what I anticipated to be a very extensive and costly project. Also, because of the number and size of the trees, I was expecting a lot of unavoidable damage done to my lawn. I opened the phone book and called a few tree removal companies. After speaking with some of the owners -- the ones who returned my calls -- I chose Barts Tree Service. Matt, the owner, is a very personable and knowlageble individual. He had explained why my sycamore trees were producing an over abundance of pollen, as compared to past years. He guided me on why some of my targeted trees really didn't need to come down. His arborist knowledge was welcome. Some of my trees were very tall to where they had to be dissembles in stages. His crew performed their tasks perfectly and safely. I highly recommend Barts Tree Service to anyone who's looking for someone to manage their landscape. read more

Quick service, very pleased with the work the crew did, cleanup was great. Definitely would recommend Barts Tree Service.

Matt and his highly professional crew at Bart's Tree Service have been helping us out with fallen trees and other tree issues for about 10 years, including the tornado disaster of 2018 and more routine issues like diseased or weakened trees. Each time, Matt has offered superb advice and dealt with extremely challenging terrain on our property. Prices are very reasonable, and they leave the property in excellent condition. Bart's has the expertise and equipment necessary to solve any tree problem. I highly recommend them! read more

After reading the reviews of Bart's Tree Service, I called them and another tree service I used in the past. Matt called first. We agreed Matt's team would remove a huge, fallen black cherry bough and remove an ash tree. Matt's team was polite and amazingly fast. BUT, they did not "remove" the tree; they chopped the tree down and left the bottom/stump. The previous tree service removed the entire tree; Bart's did not. So: Matt and team are great but get Matt to define what he means by "tree removal" before you agree to service. read more

If only ALL contractors were as easy to do business with as Barts Tree Service! The owner, Matt, has always been super responsive to my calls, provides quotes quickly and gets all work done to my quality standards in the time he promises to get them done. His business is highly qualified to do the work and his staff is always very professional. I have used Barts for tree pruning & care and snow roof/ice removal, I feel very comfortable using them for this potentially dangerous work because they are certified safety professionals, certified arborists (very important, don't let anyone else touch your trees!!) and fully insured! (also very important). read more

We asked Matt, who was doing a job next door, to look at a whole line of 60' white pines that lined our property. He listened to what trees we wanted down and which to limb up. He gave us a very fair price! When his crew got here, they never stopped until the job was done. Every bit was chipped and cleaned up and everthing looks great! He made recommendations as he went along and did all to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend Barts for your tree needs. They are prompt, courteous, and friendly! read more

I went to their website and used their online form to request a quote around 8/13 after the remnants of Hurricane Isaias left several trees down including one on the roof of my house and crushing a vehicle in my driveway. After no response for a few days, I called and left a message that if they were still interested in quoting the work, let me know as I had already had a few other companies come by. Still no response. After choosing another company, I called again as a courtesy to let them know I had contracted with someone else and would not need their service. That's why I was completely surprised to receive an email on 9/1 with a quote for the work. Not only was the quote detailed, noting the species of trees to be removed, but it included a satellite view of my property, which I found a bit creepy. Worse yet, I was concerned that someone had been wandering around my property without my knowledge or permission. I called and left a message (third time calling, three voicemails) referencing the quote number. I received a call back the next day, 9/4 from a person who I believe is the owner. I asked about why he would come out to survey for a quote without coming to the door to announce his presence on my property. He said rather curtly that they don't come to the door anymore, a likely reference to COVID concerns. I asked why he didn't at least call me and he became quite rude and belligerent, complaining about how in the middle of an emergency (it was a month ago now) he's still getting 75 emails a day and they've only just cleared emergency removals and getting to more routine work (I don't remember his exact phrasing, but I really don't see a tree on my roof and on my vehicle in the driveway as routine.) I expressed that I was not pleased that he had come onto my property unannounced, and he claimed that he had not even come in the driveway and viewed things from the street. Since you cannot see into my backyard where the "two small maple trees that were crushed" (the wording in the quote) from the street a couple hundred feet away and behind my house, I knew he was not being truthful. I told him I felt that he had trespassed by not contacting me in advance and advised him that I had security cameras which would dispute his account. He only became more rude and hung up on me while I was still speaking. I'm guessing that to be in business as long as they have with all the glowing reviews on their website, they must do some things well, but my experience with this company and the owner's attitude on phone and dishonest defense of his actions ensures that I would never do business with them. read more

We bought a home we love on a gorgeous property . . . that had been neglect for probably 30 years. It was a long and hard road to get to the folks at Bart's Tree Service - we wish we'd found them years ago! Matt and his entire team are just a really great group of people who are immediately responsive. Matt always calls back, our quote arrived when we expected at the rate we discussed and the work was done on time, again - as discussed. Matt and his crew were very respectful of our property and tidied up after they completed work. Matt is incredibly knowledgeable and he's generous with that knowledge. Fair prices, great service, good people - you should call Bart's Tree Service! read more

Recently had a number of huge trees on our Ridgefield property taken down by Bart's. We couldn't be more pleased. They provided a complete and accurate estimate of the cost and scope of work. Excellent job from quote to clean-up! We decided on Matt (Bart's Tree Service) after getting quotes from several different services (most deliver firewood in the area or did tree work for neighbors). Matt gave us the options we wanted (removing the brush, but leaving the tree cut up on site, since we burn wood for heat), had confidence in doing the job (tree was a large oak hanging over the house, inaccessible by bucket truck) and gave us a competitive quote. One tree service was nearly double the price and another simply refused to do the job. Matt was easily reachable by phone and email and scheduled the job around the snowy weather and dealt with difficulties on our property (cars in driveway, hard to get to area where the base of the tree was). The job was done during a single day (ahead of schedule), logs were left neatly stacked, brush was removed without a trace and all other debris was cleaned up. Highly recommend. read more

I was very impressed with Bart's tree service. Matt was professional, friendly, and trustworthy. Honesty isn't always easy easy to find in the service industry, that's for sure. He went out of his way to work with me to find options for removal of wood from a tree that I already had cut down. It was in a difficult location, and because of a septic tank, a truck couldn't be driven down onto my lawn to move the wood. Matt was flexible with creating an option that would work at a price I could afford and still did an excellent job. I highly recommend them. read more

Barts Tree Service is Top Notch. From the workers to the owner, every employee is professional and hardworking. They provide excellent customer service. Matt, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable and prices are more than fair. We have had them do everything from evaluate trees for illness, take down trees and most recently they worked with our landscape architect to plant over 20 trees on our property. Matt sat down at our house on multiple occasions to go over what types of trees would be best in all locations. Quotes were done in a timely fashion and the work was completed quickly and efficiently. I would not only recommend them to friends and family but to my real estate clients as well. read more

Job was to Clean up 2 trees of hanging dead branches; Take down 2 large trees and 1 smaller tree; Cut and stack wood; Leave wood chips in pile Matt was very responsive when called for a quote. He took the time to review not only the trees we had called him for a quote as well as reviewed any needs and suggestions for others with no push to do more than what he was quoting for. Matt called the night before we were scheduled that due to weather we needed to reschedule for the following day. He and his team showed up promptly ready to get going. They were professional and several times when I asked a question were very responsive. The team not only elminated the dead branches I requested but cleaned up more than I was expecting which was a nice surprise. They cleaned up the yard and when my husband came home actually said he only knew they had been there because the trees were down, wood was stacked, and wood chips were in a pile. I was very happy and would recommend Bart's Tree Service again. Actually, already had a neighbor ask for their number to come give a quote. read more

Great people and great service. I called Matt because I wanted some trees taken down in our yard. I was concerned about the health of some of the trees and wasn't sure which ones to have removed. One tree in particular was damaged in the blizzard and I was worried it would come down on power lines or the street if it wasn't removed quickly. He and his crew came out first thing the next morning. Matt walked around my yard with me, answered all of my questions and helped me make an informed decision. They removed the damaged tree, along with 2 others in my yard and secured an additional one. Matt and his team were professional, knowledgeable, and great to work with. When they were done, my yard was completely cleaned up. This was the second time I have used Bart's and it definitely won't be the last. read more

I am very pleased with the efficient and professional work performed by Matt and his servicemen. I needed a variety of work, from pruning to removal throughout the property. As a couple men were in the trees cutting, another was dragging out to the chipper. Still others were working on another part of the yard. All was done very professionally. They were also very neat. The yard was left very neat and clean. All work requested was performed. I have been enjoying some of the "air space" now available to me. Matt and his men were also very knowledgeable of the environment, trees, of course, and the best way to accomplish the requests. Thanks Matt, I may need some more work in the future. read more
