I walked in tonight and the cashier was doing something, but not helping a customer and she didn't look up to greet me for four minutes. When I ordered, I started by saying white bun with cheddar and then she asked if I want multigrain or white and if I want cheese. Not listening at all to my order. Very customer service and no one smiles. Then they're calling me for toppings, but I can't understand what they're saying at all. read more

Over the years have been frequenting the South Street Burger for the occasional Burger. I'm sad to say but the quality has taken a nose dive of late. I saw it slowly decline after several ownership changes but the most recent experience has been at bottom of barrel. Burgers were barely eatable, bland and buns were stale. Restaurant cleanliness is a concern, with sticky floors and obvious signs of neglect. I suspect it will be non existent in the not so distant future, unless things are dramatically overhauled. read more

Stopped in Sunday 07.24. Restaurant is filthy, dust, grime everywhere, bench seats dirty and full of crumbs. Were a couple of elderly ladies in the empty restaurant when we got there. When their # was called, they obviously could not hear over the fans and din, so rather than maybe walking to catch attention, the most unpleasant worker making the buns continued yelling the number until we finally had to wave to the folks to tell them that their number was being called. The look of disgust on the bun makers face was of pure anethema. The line cook wasn't any more pleasant and the person taking our order couldn't even muster a smile. Bun was stale, food was overpriced, and we will never spend a dime in your dirty store again. Good luck! read more

Not yet sure about South Street. Clean. Bright. Nice patio. Good selection. Interesting toppings. Fresh cooked after you order. BUT ... pricey for just burgers and fries. The True North Burger was good but for the price it was not special. The bun was dry. Burger was fairly ordinary all considered. I would come back if I was in the plaza, but I don't think I would go out of my way to come again. read more

The place is clean and brightly lit, and the staff are quite friendly. There are a lot of topping choices and everything is nicely presented, but the food itself is somewhat lackluster. I had the veggie burger with standard toppings and I was a bit underwhelmed. I'm pretty sure they're using President's Choice "World's Best" burgers, which are relatively tasty but it was disappointing when I was hoping they'd have their own signature veggie burger. I was also hoping for a nice char-grilled flavour, but there wasn't much of that either (Harveys has a better flavoured veggie burger). Still, I'd give it another shot and try something else next time (maybe the grilled chicken). It was also a bit pricey. A burger with cheese & a drink cost me nearly $11.00. For that price I can buy two boxes of 'World's Best' veggie burgers at Zehrs. read more

Had the 4oz True North burger. Flavour was good, meat cooked fine, bun & condiments were fresh, but it did not meet my expectations for the price. I liked the choices of toppings though. Staff, although not rude, did not appear to be very happy. I would compare it to a slightly better version of a burger from Harvey's. read more

We've eaten at another South St Burger and loved the food so when we saw this one in Kitchener we went for lunch. When we walked in the door the floor was sticky, that should have been our sign to walk out. We ordered then I went to sit at our table to wait and started looking around, the walls and doors to the bathrooms were visibly dirty, tables weren't cleaned after patrons left and there was small chunks of dirt on surfaces everywhere, it was disgusting. read more

Have been to a few of these and really enjoy the burgers Unfortunately this location was unbelievably dirty. The counter had not been cleaned in days it had layers of grease and dust so thick hair was growing on it. We could bot find a clean table to sit at and the floors were sticky they have bot been cleaned it what looked like weeks. The food still tasted ok but the state of the place made me very uneasy about the heath of what we were eating read more

The place is nice and the service is decent, but not overly friendly. The burgers are really good and at least taste like they're made fresh, but they take forever to cook, which is fine in a place like this but just know that before you're going in (ie don't go if you're in a rush). They have more topping options than Harvey's and their toppings are generally fresher, at least from my experiences with South St and with Harvey's. Though, at $4.50 a burger, it's pretty expensive. Worth it if you want a big burger that tastes like you'd barbecue at home, but otherwise, McDonalds is like a 4 minute walk away. read more

Really very bad burgers. It's almost impossible to get a good burger in Ontario because they have to cook it medium well by law, but this place was substantially worse than usual. Twice the cost of Wendy's and half as good tasting. It's clean. read more

I went to this place a few months ago with friends. The place looked clean and somewhat trendy, so we all ordered different burgers. I had Hawaiian with guacamole and fries. They were good enough to say that staffs are well-trained. The location is a bit too far from university campuses in Waterloo but, to be honest, all of us enjoyed food and I'd like to come here again to try other toppings. read more

My husband and I are a bit on the fence about this place. Things we liked; Toppings (we both had the True North Burger) Aesthetics (cool trays, signage, etc) Buns are great The stuff we didn't like: The subway/cafeteria style of making your burger The "special sauce" had no kick The staff seemed a little lost (I'll forgive this a bit since I assume they're all new) The price was quite excessive for fast food No liquor license (which for a regular fast food joint I wouldn't mention, but with their patio and "upscale NY burger joint" vibe it felt like it was needed) So in summery-pretty good over priced burgers in a neat location that is poorly staffed. read more

Great choice of toppings but bland beef. Loved the spicy relish and wasabi mayo on the Hawaiian burger.

Okay food for the price. Wasn't anything that knocked my socks off. Very average place good for a meal just to try. Definitely not fast, hope your not in a rush because they aren't. Very slow staff, service is decent. Restaurant was dirty both times I went. Most any other food place is a better experience and deal. Very average okay restaurant. This is probably my go-to place for a good burger in the KW region. My favourite is their Mushroom and Swiss. The patty is juicy but not too heavy. I normally order the burger alone without the sides because it is filling enough but the fries are okay. The only downside is that it is not conveniently located from my place :p read more
