There are four total locations, but I live less than a mile from the Haddonfield location, so it makes sense for me to go there. But even before, when I lived in Pennsauken and Collingswood, I still made the effort to come here for all things running related. I'm a lifelong runner, and a lifelong Haddonfield Running Company customer. I've never had a bad experience. The shoe selection is incredible. The staff know everything about them and can watch you run and help you pick out shoes based on your gait, your running history and goals, your past purchases, etc. They'll sit and work with you one-on-one to find the perfect shoe for you. They have a ton of other gear as well, of course. Everything you need to help you run. The owner, Dave Welsh, is one of the most outgoing and friendly guys you'll ever meet. He is constantly giving back to the community by sponsoring and/or personally organizing local events both out in the surrounding area and in the Haddonfield store. The store often hosts guest speakers in the basement of the store, or will invite shoe companies to bring their shoes to the weekly Wednesday night group run and let people test run their shoes for the whole 6.6 mile course. The store also does sidewalk sales a few times a year where they drastically reduce prices on shoes and other items. I once got a pair of Nikes for $40. I suffer from painful bunions, planter fasciitis and I have a bone spur in my heal (like stepping on a tack). I'm past being cheap and making bad decisions for my feet. I needed help finding the right shoes for my pain. The staff at the Haddonfield Running Co. were so helpful!!! They found me the right pair of sneaks for all my problems. I haven't had a pain free day in years until I wore the Hoka Bondis. I went back a few days later and bought a second pair. I highly recommend this store. They saved me from another day of endless foot pain. AND the owner saved my neighbor and I from a creepy guy following us home from a bar one night. If you are a runner, you HAVE to get professionally fitted for your running shoes. Dave and his staff are all very well trained in the biomechanics of running and know their products. When you go in for a fitting, you will be given a thorough "exam." I've been fitted for a few different pairs, and each time Dave (or one of his staff) will look at my feet, both weigh-bearing and non-weight-bearing, and watch me walk to observe my gait, pronation, etc., listen to any problems I've been having, and then recommend a variety of shoes to fit my particular "issues." The first time I was ever there, the guy who helped me brought out about 10 different pairs for me to try on! They encourage you to try each pair, walk aroudn the store, and even jog down the block to get the true feel of the shoe. They know their product. They will spend their time with you to find the right fit for you, and make recommendations regarding orthotics if necessary (I don't need them, but the store does carry a variety of them and will custom cut them to your shoe). And while I've never returned a pair of shoes, they do offer a 14 day trial period with their running shoes. HRC also carries all of the running gear you'll ever need. Although I usually buy my tech shirts at Target or Dicks on sale (because they get gross and don't have as long a life span anyway), anything where I truly care about the quality (shorts, compression pants, jackets) I'll get at HRC. They carry only the top-of-the-line products, so yes, things can be pricey, but if it is quality you are looking for, you get what you pay for. The new store (recently moved to a much bigger and nicer location across the street) is also now carrying triathlon gear, which this future triathlete has been eyeing up. HRC is also your place to get any other gear or nutritional needs you may need, such as belts, night gear, hydration belts, and Gu. Also, if you are a South Jersey Athletic Club member, Dave gives you a 10% discount on your purchases. Big SCORE, since good running shoes are not cheap. read more

Staff were busy with customers, so I didn't get a chance to interact with anyone. Good to have a place like this in a small town like ours. I'm not anywhere near classified a runner (yet). How ever I stopped in yesterday to buy my first real pair of running shoes. I don't believe they could have been more accommodating. They watched me walk then measured my feet. Asked me a few questions and brought out 5 pairs of sneakers to try. Out of the 5 it was clear to me 3 weren't for me but the last 2 were hard to choose from. Neither pair was pushed on me and I was able to choose the pair that felt best. At no point were the more expensive shoes pushed on me and it was truly a sale of a product that fit me best. Everybody in the store was super polite and helpful. A kind woman behind the counter even gave me some tips and insight into a tri I plan on running in the fall. Pretty sure I will be back for all of my running needs. Buyer beware: the store accepts no returns, even of unworn shoes. The full story: I stopped by the store to buy a pair of Altra running shoes, but sadly the ones in my size were too small and the store didn't have the next size up. The woman helping me then measured my foot and recommended another shoe, a Brooks Dyad. They didn't have them in the size she measured, but she gave me the next size up. I was unsure of buying them without trying a pair in my actual size, but she ensured me that they fit well. I told her that I'd buy the shoes, but I planned to order online the original Altras I came for in my size, and return the Brooks to the store if the Altras fit better, and she said that wouldn't be a problem. I ordered the Altras in my size online, which fit perfectly. I also ordered the Brooks Dyads in my appropriate size, and they fit much better than the size I was sold at the store. The next day, my wife tried to return the Brooks (which I hand't worn at all) to the store but the manager said they would not accept returns. When she asked if they could instead order the shoe in my proper size and exchange it, he refused to do that either. After much arguing, which was causing a scene in the store, he begrudgingly agreed to allow her to return the shoes. I wasn't trying to cheat the store by trying on shoes there then buying them for cheaper online. I went there with every intention to support the store and buy a pair of shoes, but I was forced to buy them online instead because the store didn't have my size in stock or offer to order them. I paid the same price online as the store price. The sales associate had pushed on me whatever size she had in stock, rather than the size that my foot measured (though I will say she was otherwise very friendly, appeared to be knowledgable, and was very helpful). Sorry, but when paying $120 for a pair of shoes, I want them to be the right size, not just what the store happens to have in stock. I will never shop there again P.S. We also bought my daughter a pair of shoes there that day. Though we saw them cheaper online, we didn't try to return them. We were happy to pay full price for the help they gave in fitting my daughter's shoes. read more

What a fun store, especially for this newbie runner who cannot seem to commit to a regular running regiment. The store is always clean and the service is always knowledgable and helpful without being pretentious or arrogant. Hesitant to go back to any Running Company after somewhat snarky staff at the Moorestown location who I felt didn't take me seriously because I'm a novice runner, I decided that rather than eat the $150+ I spent on ill-fitting new kicks, I'd try to exchange at a different location. Luckily, I had a much better experience at Haddonfield Running Co. Though somewhat busy when I arrived, I was able to meet with someone within a few minutes. He watched me walk, checked my feet, asked me what I didn't like about my previous pair of sneakers, and then brought out 3 pairs for me to try. I know that if none of them had worked for me, he'd have brought out a bunch more (I tried on probably 8 or 9 at Moorestown), but I found one within that three that felt great. I wore them out of the store (my favorite thing to do ever!) and have logged about 50 miles since. I've heard that sneakers in running stores cost way more than they do elsewhere. I never did a price check for the pair I bought, but they fit perfectly and I liked the customer service I received at Haddonfield RC versus what I'd get at a bigger sporting goods store. I'll definitely go back when I'm ready to replace. read more

I'll never shop for running shoes anywhere else ever again Been meaning to write this review for a while. After years of buying and being disappointed in running shoes from every other store in the area I decided to try the Running Company of Haddonfield based on the recommendation of a friend who is also a podiatrist. Everything about this experience was different from any I've encountered in other specialty shops. Not only did the "advisor" measure my foot but she also watched me walk in every pair of shoes I tried on. After we narrowed it down to a pair that seemed good she said " OK now go for a run outside." I thought she was kidding. When I said as much she said " well how can you tell unless you run in them? So go run". After I "test drove" the shoes she said that if I found them not to work for me within 14 days I could return them for a different pair. I don't know any other store that offers that. It's been 6 months and I love my New Balance 860's. They were the replacements for the shoes I initially bought and found myself unhappy with. The Running Company was true to its word. Two weeks ago I returned to buy a pair of shoes that I could wear for Body Pump class that would provide better stability for squats and lunges with a heavy barbell. These shoes, Nike Zoom Pegasus, have proven to be wonderful as well. They were recommended by a different sales person in the store who also took the time to listen to me and help me find the right shoe. read more

While they were with other customers, a simple "Hello, if you need help I'll be with you in few minutes." Long story short I get really bad shin splints when I run and have so for over the past 4 years. I was told about this place by a friend at work and decided to stop by here to check it out. One of the staff members had me roll up my jeans, take off my shoes and walk around a little. He then checked my feet out a little more and discovered my left arch was crushed in a little, from a previous injury. He did some more measurements and got a few different shoes from the back for me to check out. I tried them all on and walked around and finally found a shoe that I loved! I can FINALLY run and my shin splints are nearly gone. I highly recommend this place and the outstanding staff, ps they also have a Military Discount, which adds another star in my book! read more

LOVE this running store because they fixed my blisters problem. I had been previously fitted for brooks adrenaline gts running shoes by a different running store and had been wearing them for years. During all that time I had been experiencing blisters during my half marathon races (only on race day) until I started having them while training last year. I came here on afternoon before my yoga class in haddonfield and told the nice gentleman about my blister problem. He took a look at the shoes I was wearing and immediately realized the sole was too thick and was causing the issue. He found a different, lighter brooks shoe and had me try it on and I immediately felt the difference. Ever since then I don't have issues with blisters on my long runs. This is the first running store that I felt like they really knew what they were doing and were giving advice based off what was best for me and not what would be the highest sale for them. read more

Able to get them, the gentleman was very nice to hold them, would of til Wednes, but I was able to get them today. Excellent service, helped me find the perfect shoes for my knee, foot and back issues. all my fittings were done "blind" and I ended up with the cheapest shoe.. no trying to get me into the most expensive shoe- just the right one- which just happened to be the least expensive. My problems were listened to and my gait carefully observed... it took some time but it was worth it to get the right shoe. I was fitted for a pair of asics running shoes. They were quite expensive but I thought if they said they would work for my feet I would do it. Fast forward two months later, I am not running due to plantar fasciitis. I believe this store fit me incorectly, my podiatrist even said the same. I called to see if they could help me, maybe make exchange and of course no. Terrible fitters and terrible customer service. They always want to sell too big size and they jam super feet down your throat. I was incredibly pleased with my visit to Haddonfield Running Co. I've just taken up running, and was a little nervous that I would be scoffed at for my five year-old pair of Nike Shox. Instead, the staff were friendly and supportive of my being a novice (read: shitty) runner. They cater your shoe selection to your stride (which they assess) and any problems or injuries you may have. Hello, This issue occurred at the Running Company of Haddonfield store on April 3. My complaint is directed at the employee named TJ and indirectly at the other gentleman who may be the Owner or Manager (name unknown). First, some context: I have been a loyal customer for the past 2 years. Their records will indicate that I have purchased at least 3 top tier running shoes from you. The total revenue for your company should be at least $400.00. I go to the Haddonfield store because of its proximity, selection of running shoes, and, prior to yesterday's incident, superior customer service. After entering, I was greeted by TJ. I stated that I am looking to try on some running shoes. I stated that I purchased my current running shoes (NIKE VOMERO9) from you and would like to try some shoes for comparison. TJ was courteous and professional at this time. He returned with the 3 pairs. When he returned, I told him, out of respect and to be upfront with him, that I may have a unique opportunity for at least a $50.00 discount at another running shoe store and that I may take advantage of it. I was telling him this as he was about to hand me the first shoe to try on. When I told him, he pulled the shoe back and said "I will not help you". He refused to allow me to try on any shoes. He then became very unprofessional and, frankly, he humiliated me in front of about 5-6 other customers, two of whom were sitting right next to me. He said, "I am sorry", and I stated because of his nasty tone, "You're not sorry", and he replied, "You are right, I am not sorry". I was completely taken aback by such egregious, unprofessional behavior. Now, let me emphasize that I completely understand that the company needs to generate revenue to be successful. I GET IT! However, his shortsightedness and rude behavior has resulted in their loss of my business forever. For a reputable business, an act of such egregious employee conduct toward a customer should never happen or be tolerated. The shortsightedness, egocentricity and apparent desperation to SELL at the exclusion of all else is ultimately counterproductive. To prove my point, let's walk through this logically: There was a good probability, that for this one particular time, The Running Company of Haddonfield, was not going to get my business. Considering that the average cost of the shoes that I have purchased was $130.00, they would not get that revenue from me on that particular day. However, if TJ had been more consultative and professional, I most definitely would come back every 6 months and spend about $130.00, or $260.00 per year for the foreseeable future. Now, as a result of TJ's pitiable behavior, not only will The Running Company of Haddonfield not get the $130.00 from me on April 3, but you will also not get $260/ year. I've bought about 6 pairs of shoes from HRC since 2007. I only splurge on workout gear, but the gear is well worth it in their store, and less than online with extremely personalized service. I wouldn't shop for specialized shoes in another store since I receive the best, and hence, most knowledgeable service at this store. As a recent BSN, RN grad I value customer service representatives who take the health of the athlete/customer into the total picture when fitting someone for the right gear. They treat all types of runners with the same amount of respect. I also hold their group runs in high regard. I started running in 2002 and by 2007 I joined their group runs to get in shape for the Broad Street Run. I always finish the group runs last, but the other runners are friendly and supportive so it's an amazing experience (and workout). read more

I was in your store this past week inquiring about vibram five finger shoes after my orthopedic physician recommended I try a pair for running. The girl at the store provided minimal information regarding the pros/cons and differences in available pairs. I took them home and wore them around the house and visited vibrams website as suggested by the the store rep. After checking their site I realized she sold me what vibram consider to be a casual pair and not their running shoe. I returned to the store to exchange for the correct pair and the guy at the store did everything but call me an idiot and refused to hear me out or exchange the shoes because they had been worn once. Rather then try and explain why she had sold me the pair of shoes as running shoes he was combative from the start. Considering the times you would think customer service would be at it's highest level but it's become clear now the many times I have dealt with your store it's low on the priority list. It's sad to say a company is willing to lose long time customer over a $100 pair of shoes sold on incorrect advice of your own sales rep. read more
