Yes, William you are very aware and every time I reached out directly to you for assistance you NEVER responded. South Jersey elevator blames everything on the customer. This is why they never learn from their mistakes. Got tired of the awful service and pathetic attitude. Cancelled my annual maintenance contract 7 weeks before the renewal date via a phone call. 4 months later SJE dragged me into small claims court for $450 for a contract I cancelled and a contract for which NO work had ever been performed. Again all my fault because they wanted the cancellation in writing, but he guy I talked to didn't tell me that. He said no problem, I will tell accounting. Again tried to get William the CEO involved - NO RESPONSE! Their accounting manager extorted $300 from us at small claims court. The fact that their accounting manager would waste all that time and energy over $450 that had no cost of service associated with is a good indicator of what awful "business" people they are! Court fees and time expended cost more than $300 she collected ! Most unethical and evil company! read more

They charged us thousands and thousands of dollars for our office elevator and they never fix the problems!!! They also broke the elevator during the weight test by overloading it and then charged us to repair it but they could not repair it!!! They also have billing issues and double invoice!! Stay away from them. read more

They do not complete a job, test and provide any warranty on their repair work. When the day it's repaired and a day later it doesn't work again the charge a service call and charge again. Find another issue which I believe they may have created. Accused customer of damaging elevator. Find another company at all costs. read more

Avoid them at all cost unless a very basic service needed. My elevator started sporadically going up very slowly. I called for someone to come out to fix it and a tech came the next day. On the positive side, the patient was sick when the doctor arrived but he checked the coils and found there was no magnetic resistance on the fast up valve and said the valve needed to be replaced also saying when 1 coil goes the other 3 would fail soon after. He also said the hydraulic fluid should be changed and they sent me a quote for ~$4,500. When the 2 techs came the wires of the coils were too short and I declined to have them splice some wire onto them to make them fit and the elevator continued to run slow. A few weeks later they arrived with the coils, replaced them but about 2 days prior the elevator started running fine every time so after replacing the coils, we really didn't know if the problem was fixed. Three weeks later, the elevator had a slow run, I called them and said it happened just once and if it never happens again, great but I want a notation added to my file so they don't tell me if/when it gets worse that I should have let them know earlier. Over the next few weeks it did get progressively worse and after a contentious conversation with Carmen the parts person, he said 'if its running a LITTLE slow I can have someone come out to make an adjustment to the valves'. I said it is not running a LITTLE slow, it is running EXTREMELY slow like when I first called you!!. He said 'do you want it or not' so I agreed. The tech came out, made the adjustments and while the elevator ran slightly faster, it was still going between running extremely slow and normal. I started emailing them links to videos I took showing this is still a problem. It got really bad the day before I went out of town but my wife would be home so the first tech came the next day and he told my wife the problem was because she was not closing the door properly which is total nonsense since there are electronics on each door to make sure all the doors are closed or it does not run at all (we are living in this house 18 years and know how to shut the door). The elevator was working while the tech was here, rode the elevator up and down several times and did so with my wife and she agreed it was working for now. Two hours after he left, the elevator ran slow again. When I got home, I called, spoke to the manager Bill Jr and he was essentially blaming me saying he sent techs out several times and the elevator is always working. I said that was not true, the first 2 visits, the elevator was having the problem and I have been sending you videos showing the original problem is still happening. He agreed to send his best installer and best tech to check it out. They arrived the next morning and spent about 2 hours thoroughly going thru it. During their testing, the installed commented that the valve openings were out spec and the pump would eventually burn out!! At the end, they said they were 95% sure the problem is with a relay on a circuit board. Unfortunately, the tech support person with the elevator manufacturer was on vacation but he will be back on Monday. They said the support person might accept their write up but sometimes wants a tech on site to run some tests. On Tuesday, I called to get a status and was told by Carmen that he was waiting to get the price of the circuit board. Shortly after, Carmen called me, said the elevator manufacturer said I had a contract with another elevator company, I told Carmen I did not but he insisted I did since the elevator manufacturer told him so. He then told me he wanted $2,259 to replace the large circuit board plus 4 hours labor. I said when the techs left, they said it is a quick thing to do so why 4 hours. He put me on hold, spoke to his manager and made it a minimum 1.5 hours plus any additional time if it goes over. I asked about a credit for replacing the coils that were needlessly replaced and he said he is not going to even consider any sort of credit. I declined the quote and immediately called the elevator manufacturer as to why they have me down as having a contract with some elevator company. As fate would have it, the person who handles that type of matter is the tech support person that the techs wanted to get in touch with. We resolved that matter and I then talked about my problem. I told him I put an ohm meter to the coils and they all read 22 ohms and he said if they are all readying the same then yes they are all good. We then talked about the relays on the circuit boards and he said the problem would not be with the large board but with the small board. So Carmen would have had me replace another piece of good equipment. When I tried to call Carmen after tech support called, I was told they no longer want to do business with my. I sold a house to my daughter with an elevator that recently had $12,000 worth of repairs that the seller paid in order to sell the house with a working elevator. Right before we were to settle, we did a walk thru with some family members and 3 of the elderly used the elevator, got stuck for a half hour, one passed out and the service tech got there after the fire dept. who had to rescue my 95 yo dad to save his life. So the company blamed us saying it was improperly used, wanted to charge for the damage to get him out, charged a fee to come out in which he did nothing, and wasn't good on their service that the seller paid $12,000 to have a working elevator. They sucked and they are lucky my dad didn't die in there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY! read more

DO NOT USE South Jersey Elevator (SJE). SJE had serviced my elevator on LBI annually the past 2 years. 3 months after the last annual service, the elevator stopped working. I called SJE, they came out but unfortunately, they could not find the root cause why the elevator stopped working. They did recommend some work to be done over the next few months for a price of over $4300. SJE stated the elevator was SAFE to use. I called another elevator company for a second opinion. Upon arrival, the second company immediately shut down the elevator stating it was UNSAFE to use. The second company found significant leakage of hydraulic oil from one of the major mechanical parts that needed replacement immediately. They did the work, got the elevator working properly at a cost significantly less than SJE quote. SJE quote never addressed this major mechanical failure instead stated the parts (that were leaking) were working properly. I felt SJE service call was unsatisfactory, lacking technical knowledge by not discovering or highlighting the obvious issue with my elevator (major leak of hydraulic oil causing it to shutdown). Instead, SJE quoted to do work that had nothing to do with this this mechanical failure. I contacted SJE management with my dissatisfaction requesting a refund of the service call ($350). Their response was "service was rendered so no refund". I feel the only service rendered by SJE was UNACCEPTABLE AND UNKNOWLEDGABLE SERVICE! For your safety, I recommend NO ONE USE South Jersey Elevator. read more

DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE A TOTAL RIP OFF!! Called for service on equipment, they charged me a service fee of $325, while tech was here he never checked motor or equipment, he only checked electric and said that we needed to call an electrician because it wasn't working and that they would come back to diagnose problem. Electrician came and did a thorough check and said all electric is fine, Electrician charged $320. I called South Jersey Elev to reschedule and they said that it would be an additional $325 to come out again and that this covered the diagnostic fee only and then they would give me an estimate on labor/parts to repair. I explained that I had already paid a service fee for which the tech did nothing and I paid an electrician for something that wasn't broken. At this point I am out a total of $345 and they now want to charge me another $325 plus labor/parts. I asked to speak with her manager and she transferred to his voice mail and two weeks later I still haven't heard from him. I looked online for another elevator repair company, called H.E.R.M Inc. in Marlton NJ, 855-783-3100 and spoke with Dave who setup service two days later. Kyle their tech looked at motor and told me it was the safety latch and he could fix it onsite. Took him less than five minutes to diagnose and he fixed it in an hour and I even had him do some additional work on other problems that we have been having. The charge was $180 for everything. Call this company, you will be treated with respect and there won't be any lies or cheating!! read more
