It is a venue that has a lot of potential, with both the inside of the building and the outdoor field where ABR is held available as potential space. I guess I would say that I feel the ABR is too big for this venue and there are parking issues (not to mention the wrap-around-the-block hour-long wait to get through the gate). Other things I've been to at this facility seemed better suited. For the record, I do think that reusing an old building period is awesome. It's way better than just letting it sit there. :-)

The space is updated, and a number of people mentioned how nicely it was decorated. There is street parking all around, and a couple of lots further down the street. FYI: As with other rental spaces, there is a list of items that you can't use in the space - candles, confetti, etc . . ., but they have it all listed on the website under the FAQs, so you know upfront what you are getting into. Also, you have to clean the space when you are finished using it, not a big deal, just make sure you factor that into the rental time. If I were in need of this kind of space again, I would definitely use this space again.

The owner is great at communicating and gets right back in touch with you. I'm so very pleased!!

I'm new to discovering The Trailhead at Theodore Wirth Regional Park, but believe me when I say I'll be back many more time. In the winter, they offer cross-country skiing and lessons. (You can rent a full set of gear for about $30- no need to have your own to experience skiing! They also have à la carte options for cheaper if you only need poles or boots, etc.) Besides skiing, outdoor winter activities also include snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing.... You name it. (I haven't been in fall or summer yet, but I also hear great things about their mountain biking and trail running options.) Inside The Trailhead, there's food and drink concessions, ample seating, lockers, bathrooms, and even rooms for rent. The last time I was there, a family was hosting a young child's birthday party in the multi-purpose room. Altogether, there is an amazing assortment of services here to come and check out. The building is a perfect space for bringing a large group together for games, chatting, eating, and sledding on the snowy hills just outside the doors. They used to serve hot food, but they no longer have that option. The food was not consistent or anything all that special, but it was a nice option. This time we brought Thanksgiving leftovers and some breakfast bagel sandwiches. The space is well maintained and clean. It is spacious and has lots of room for young kids to run around and not be a disturbance. Always look forward to coming here.

I was surprised to find out that the ceiling drapery was included in the rental, it was just gorgeous! There were also several tables and high tops included that we were able to dress up with table cloths and decorations. I believe there were about 120 people in attendance and it felt like we could fit at least 50 more if we wanted to. The kids had a blast in the back kitchen area where there were arcade games, while the adults socialized and sipped mimosas. The venue let us bring in our own alcohol and food which saved thousands of dollars not having to hire a caterer. There was also a large dedicated parking lot for the event center which was really nice, especially when we needed to be close to the doors to load in and out. Overall, I give 5 stars for the Phoenix Hall Event Center. If you're looking for a beautiful, yet affordable venue in the Lakeville area that allows the flexibility to bring your own food and alcohol, this is a lovely option!

Until that control is in place, I can't recommend this venue. No need to take my word for it...call the Eden Prairie city offices before committing to rent. The food was meh. I thought it was on par with other banquet fare, some others thought it was better. They offered vegetarian spinach and cheese ravioli with vegetables, Mediterranean chicken with rice and vegetables, or beef tips with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. The staff was decent. They get one star off though because the bride & groom had some engraved champagne flutes and the waitstaff took ONE of them away and washed it! They thought it was lost until I inquired with the staff who retrieved it from the back. *headdesk* And they seemed less than tactful......like walking in front of a picture-plus the odd distribution of the food (two tables near the head table were the last to be served) but that could maybe be from inexperience?
