This portion of the Carolina Thread Trail is a beautiful 2 mile walk (one way) that is set amidst the 324 acre Rhyne Preserve along the Catawba River. There is a parking area for about 8 or so cars, and markers along the way with information for you about the trail. The trail itself is natural ground and crushed gravel, making it a very easy walk/hike. We saw people with dogs on leashes and even some mountain bikers on the trail. If you get tired, plop down on one of the large rocks to view the waterfall and mill or on some of the benches along the way. This park is open from dawn to dusk. On your walk you'll see forests, swamps, wildflowers and of course the river. It is truly beautiful and very peaceful. It has remained open during COVID 19.
