David provided a complete estimate in October 2023 and aimed for a December start date which he adhered to despite the requirement to involve my HOA design Committee and a structural engineer for the project. From start to finish, the project was completed on schedule, as described, with the flexibility for upgrading flooring which I later requested. The team was competent, professional and ensured my complete approval and delight with the project. Additionally, the total price was lower than my estimate from another company (a National chain) which planned to use materials of much lesser quality and did not include new decking and rails. I can enthusiastically recommend Zapp Exteriors after my experience with David and his team. The service was exceptional as was the final product.

Denver Decks just completed the work on our new deck. From the very start to the finish the…read moreproject has been great. The new deck replaced an old wooden deck that had seen it's better days. The understructure of the old deck was beginning to fail and the understructure supports the roof that covers most of the deck. Before hiring Denver Decks to do the job we used AI to recommend good deck companies in the Denver area. We contacted four companies, three responded and Denver Decks was one of those three. Our deck is 17' x 20' and the estimates to do the job were similar. We were promptly contacted and set up a meeting with Paul Koehn from Denver Decks. We met with Paul and quickly realized that he was much more that just a salesman for the company. He had built many decks before moving into sales so his knowledge of what is needed for a new deck was extensive, readily available, and we actually enjoyed discussing our project with him. Paul also indicated that Denver Decks always complies with the codes and permit process that exists for such projects in Denver. One of the companies that we contacted said that they do not pull permits for work in Denver and if something goes wrong during the process it would be our fault! Paul had lots of photos of other projects that Denver Decks had completed. The photo collection was extensive, well organized, and included pictures of stairs, railings, deck surfaces and lights that have been used in other projects. It really made it easier for us to decide what we wanted for our deck. After deciding on what we wanted for our deck the deconstruction of the old deck began and we got to meet/talk with Jay (project manager), Mike (site manager) and Jim, the craftsman for our deck. The communication throughout the project was great! The roof, that covered most of the 17'x20' deck, was supported by three 4"x4" posts that were set upon the deck surface that was supported by two 2"x8" boards on edge. I was very nervous that the aging understructure might fail and drop the roof onto the deck. Denver Decks installed 3 caissons to support the new 6"x6" posts that would now support the roof and 3 added caissons to support the outer edge of the deck. Each cement caisson was 19" in diameter and 36" deep. My worries about the roof falling ceased to exist! After the old deck was removed Jim began to build the new deck. I do not have words that can adequately express how impressed we were with the craftsmanship, construction knowledge and care that Jim displayed in building our deck. The skill that he displayed in all aspects of the construction were amazing and the best that I've ever witnessed in all of the projects that I've ever hired or been around. He built our deck the way that I would've built it if I had his knowledge, skill, equipment and his many years of construction experience! Thank you Jim! Such decks are not cheap and the price for Denver Decks to do the job was similar to that of the company that said they would not pull permits! Building a deck is one of those many situations in life where you truly do, "get what you paid for" and we didn't pay a cent until the job was finished to our satisfaction. Apologies for such a long review but a short review just would not do in this case. Denver Decks did a great job for us and we wholeheartedly recommend them for your deck. They can add us to their lengthy list of references who will be glad to discuss Denver Decks with you for your project! Thank you Denver Decks for a job well done!

When I met with Mike to go over the specifications for the project, my initial impression was confirmed. He is very knowledgable and easy to work with. He provided some good suggestions for my new workshop as well as letting me know about any code requirements that we will need to consider. Blue Pine provides a customer portal which is not only a valuable communications tool but also has features such as change order processing, invoice payment and scheduling. The Daily Log is a great way for Blue Pine to show the progress of the project. Each day Mike posts a summary of the work that was completed as well as pictures of it. All of the people who worked on my project, both Blue Pine employees and subcontractors, were not only skilled at what they do but also very personable. I always felt welcome to stop by and see how things were going. How things went, was outstanding. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of work that was done. From the concrete finish to the electrical work and everything in between, there is nothing I look at and wish it had been done better. It seems to me that Mike takes pride in providing the customer with an outcome that they are very happy with and makes sure he hits that goal. Based on my experience with Blue Pine Construction, I can highly recommend them to anyone looking to have any type of construction project done.

Their suggestions and ideas really helped us hone in on our ultimate vision for the new kitchen. I had high hopes when I met with Dan, the marketing guy from TNT Decking about tearing out our old…read moreconcrete front porch and installing a new wood deck. He was pleasant and friendly and convinced me that his teammates did excellent work, but...marketing people sometimes spin fancy words. That's why they're good at what they do. But...Dan's teammates were NOT what he promised. I won't go into excruciating detail about all the ups and downs of the L-O-N-G process, but suffice it to say: we contracted with them in July for an October start (which was bad enough, but we knew about COVID-related delays so we were ok with that.) BUT...November came and went with no word from anyone. When I called to follow up, the Foreman acted like a whiney baby, making excuses about *how hard his job was!* - and...there were so many typos in his text, I could barely read it! Totally unprofessional on both counts. This went on a few more times: I followed up, and they made excuses for the delay. Finally, just before Christmas, they dropped off the materials at our house. We thought, "Finally!" But it was another three weeks before the crew showed up. And...when they finally did, *they had no idea* of the scope of the project! They didn't have specs, they didn't have the jackhammer they needed to remove the old concrete, and the didn't have the industrial dumpster needed to haul away the debris!! The crew left that morning, without saying a word. Just disappeared. When I called the Foreman again, another lame excuse. More delays. Early in the process, I asked Dan for his recommendations for a concrete contractor for after the deck was done. (We needed new sidewalks around the new deck.) He referred me to a guy named Eddie. Eddie made a meet-up appointment with me for an evening in September. I left work early to get there by 4:30 to accommodate his schedule, and he called me 10 minutes before I got home to ask if he could come the next night instead. I agreed. The next night? He never called, and he never showed up. Never heard from him again. By the time they finally finished the deck *at the end of January,* it was too cold and snowy for the new concrete contractor we hired to pour the new sidewalk we need, so, ever since, we haven't been able to use our front door. In and out through the garage only. When I suggested a discount on the project from TNT due to their company's several errors, poor communication, and three month delay in completing the job, they said no. Can't do that. Really...can't??? So I immediately knew my only recourse was writing a cautionary review. Note: the deck itself looks nice. But the ridiculous clown show of ineptitude we had to deal with makes me confident that ANY other decking company would have been a better choice.
