There are precious few options for getting to and from the train station in Wassaic, NY other than imposing on family. Rick's Reliable Rides is a solid option. Rick answered the phone, explained exactly what he needed (time and precise location of pick up and cash or Venmo payment) and was responsive by text until we met him. He was ready and waiting when we walked out the door. His car was clean and comfortable, he was friendly but not overly talkative and drove safely without wasting any time. Earlier in the day, when the high for the crisp sunny day was 13F, we were trying to get from the Metro North station at Wassaic to a town 40 minutes away. Fortunately Metro North has a little waiting room with a very cold cement floor but a powerful heater you can activate for five or ten minutes at a clip. We stood there and waited for a Lyft for almost an hour, counting down the minutes until the Driver's Details would be revealed. But after counting down to 1 minute, we got "just a few more seconds" for five or so minutes and then the whole history of our request for a ride simply evaporated. It was replaced by a screen saying "Hello, Anne! Where would you like to go?" At this point we called on the family we were going to visit. Lyft gets an F in our book. Rick's Reliable Rides gets an A+.

Useless and unreliable…read more   My husband and I needed to get home from the hospital following a car accident where our car was totalled.   It was 11:10 on a Friday night - a time when most taxi companies are operating at full swing.   I called Riverview to get a ride.   After ringing for quite a while, an angry, groggy man finally answered the phone, annoyed that I "called so late". He said he can't help me, and hung up.  So I called a different number, and the same man answered, now even more irate than before, demanding to know why I called back!   I explained that I had just dialed a totally different number and had no way of knowing that I was calling the same company under a different phone number.   Needless to say, Riverview taxi - mere blocks from the hospital - couldn't (or wouldn't) accommodate us in an emergency situation, and their nasty attitude just added to insult to injury -  literally.
