Working with South Cooling on a repair. They were responsive and able to pinpoint the problem. Marcos and Luis arrived with the new coil and refrigerant earlier than scheduled as South Cooling contacted me and reported that due to a cancellation they had an opening. Marcos and Luis were pleasant and professional. They set to work and were able to get the unit working quickly. Throughout, they were efficient and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend them. I would add that their customer service person, Nina, is very professional and responsive. I also spoke to Mabel who manages the operation. If I had the time to go out of my way and tell people to avoid this company I would. The A/C unit for a home I was renting broke in May and wasn't fixed by this company until October. Between South Cooling and the rental property managers at Invitation Homes, everyone kept pointing fingers instead of fixing the problem, which was a broken AC for the entire summer of 2021. The workers they sent said they seen rodent droppings in the attic and would not work on the home because of that. The rental company eventually sent someone to remove all of the old insulation and install new insulation. When they finally arrived to fix the A/C in October they cut a hole in the ceiling (which caused all of the new insulation that was just installed to fall to the ground) taped one of my garbage bags to the ceiling and left it for me to figure out. I was assigned South Cooling through my home owner's warranty. They had to come out 5 or 6 times, telling me each time my AC was fixed, but each time after they left, I realized it wasn't. The house still wasn't cooling and then on the 3rd time after they left, my AC wouldn't shut off (even with the thermostat placed in the off position!) Each time they were called out, they told me it was something different- one time it was the coils needed to be cleaned, another time and relay connection to the thermostat was bad, one time the Freon was low... why they didn't just do a FULL diagnostic and try to fix everything all at once it beyond me. For example, it wasn't until the 5th time that someone told me the Freon was low. Why hadn't all the other people checked it?! Also, there was a language barrier on several occasions. And when I asked if it could be the motor or fan, I got a shrug and an "I don't know, maybe." But, wasn't it their job to check instead of giving me a "maybe." Also, I told the company each time that they would need a large ladder to get to the roof unit, and twice the technician didn't bring one and therefore couldn't look at the roof unit. Ultimately, I had to pay out of pocket to have a reliable AC technician recommended by a friend to come out and actually fix it. (My capacitor was broken, and none of the South Cooling guys noticed!) My independent AC also noticed that after South Cooling had put back the air mover after cleaning it, they put the fan on low, which directly affected the temperature of the house. All in all, just a terrible experience with South Cooling. read more

South Cooling, how does this company even operate in this city. My brother had to use them because he has American Homeshield, unbelievably incompetent, ignorant and rude. They have been to his house 4 times in the last 90 days, every time it's something different, cant fix this , have to replace that or its too old. They also said that American Homeshield would not replace the the unit, but American told me they would. Those are some of the excuses they use. Lastly, yesterday they said the manager would go by the house today at 8:30am, when the wife realized at 9:00am they hadn't gone or called, she called them. They said the manager would not go and furthermore, they would not service his air anymore. American Homeshield was called and they said that the manager stated that he was rude and aggressive. Seems like a good way to get out of the contract if you ask me. I strongly suggest everyone stay away from this company. I would venture to say that if you look thru the reviews, you will see they are all bad except one. The lady says the technician that went to the house was Gus, who happens to be the manager. They sent a technician 8 days after I asked for service from American Home Shield. He arrived and couldn't diagnose problem without making numerous phone calls. He then set the unit to defrost and left stating he would be back. I soon found water flooding my apartment. Calling customer service to have him back was a complete disaster despite him causing a flood. They said it was too late to send anyone else out. My building sent another technician that was able to handle the problem. They had another tech come out and now say insulation that the first tech damaged was caused by "lack of maintenance ". They are now coming back in another week to replace coil. Total failure and not one apology. Don't try to talk to a supervisor....it is impossible. Run away if They come to your house. read more

This is the worst company to have a business license ANYWHERE, their license should be revoked and they should all be put in prison . They have been out to our property 4 times and demanded money upfront. They misdiagnosed the problem each time, and put the wrong part on the air conditioner and refused to correct the problem. Repeated calls to the company with no return calls, just with no response. Drove to the company in person and was just humiliated and laughed at. It is the middle of summer in Homestead and temperatures are 85 plus in the home. This company is affiliated with AHS who also refuses to resolve the problem. I'll begin by saying that the only reason I'm even using this company is because my home warranty company (American home shield) hired them to fix the issue with my central A/C. Every single person that I've spoken to from this company is completely incompetent. Not to mention their customer service is absolutely horrendous. They have had to come out 3 different times to install a new compressor, then uninstall it because it wasn't working (I believe it was a used one), then install a different one, and now possibly uninstall that one because it's not working either. Going on 1 month now with no A/C in 90 degree Miami weather. I am so unhappy with their service. I cannot wait to be done with them. Hired another AC company, who had to replace work that was done by South Cooling and parts that they had not replaced (but should have) failed causing the newly installed AC unit, which the second company had installed, to fail. read more

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. American home shield sent this company to fix my ac. Long story short I went a little over a month with no AC in 90 degree Florida heat. They came out to my house a total of 5 times each time it was something different. They finally had to order a compressor (which I told them from the beginning was the problem) only to install it and it STILL didn't work. I finally called American home shield and had them send out another company AAA appliances and miraculously they managed to fix my problem in a few days. They ended up having to order an NEW compressor and confirmed that south cooling installed a used one. Costumer service was terrible and they even missed an appointment once. I really wish I could give less than one star. We had no air conditioning here in Florida for here in Florida for several days and could not get them to fix the problem. They were rude, they replaced our thermostat with the crappy us cheapest thermostat available, which didn't work, told us they were going to come back for two days because they were too busy even though we were living in 92° in our home for days. When they did come back they found it wasn't the thermostat, but the unit needed a nine dollar part, which they wouldn't replace until they got an OK from American Home Shield (Another company to stay as far away from as you can) And even then they wouldn't come back for two days. We even spoke with the owner Who basically said too bad. Between the Horrendous service from American Home Shield and South cooling we were without Air conditioning for four days. I used this company a few years ago to install an AC unit on the second floor of my house. I was happy with the work. Recently, the unit shuts off and needs to be unclogged frequently. I needed them to come out but you have to pay a $75 + credit card fee of 3% even when using a debit card... THIS IS WRONG. Anyway, I paid the fee. The worker came out and said the job to unclog the drain would be $170- $75 deposit was $95. I had cash of $100 but they need the exact money before the worker could start the work. I was going to go get the exact money, they said the tech can not wait for me to go get money...I did not appreciate being treated like a criminal after being with the company for almost 5 years. I was able to go get the exact amount before the work was done. The company seems to be interested only in making money than building good customer-client relationships! read more

They came out on 2/8 and said my EV coils was bad and needs to be replaced. Then on 2/12 they changed their minds and tried to repair it. Spent 2 hours working on it with no luck. I had an older AC unit and was having issues on and off for a while. Recently I had South Cooling come out to the house and give me an estimate for a repair. A friend of mine recommended them to me. When I called their office to set up an appointment they were very professional and were able to accommodate me right away. The technician that showed up to my house was Gus, he did a very thorough inspection of my unit and was able to tell me immediately what the problem was. Considering that it was an older unit I decided to replace it with a new one. They quoted me a very good price. They also had financing available through Ygrene which is great, it was easy to apply. I would definitely recommend them! read more

We are also victims of the inadequate work and service of South Cooling LLC. So far it has taken over SIX VISITS to solve the problem. Each time they show up, we have to take time off work and it's a huge inconvenience for us. Even though the problem has been identified, I guess South Cooling prefers to collect money from American Home Shield (our insurance co.) instead of actually finishing the repair. Gus Diaz, the owner, hides behind the phone and fails time and time again to provide good service. He does not care about his company, but rather seems to just be enjoying collecting money from billing our insurance company. It's pretty sad it's come down to getting attorneys involved in this situation! We have been more than patient with South Cooling. They fail every time! Just to add to my original review on how terrible they are. I used them through American home shield which is a home warranty company. I called them to advise them that their technician, Renaldo, came to my house and did a horrible job replacing my air handler. Instead of replacing the pieces, he chose the lazy way and patched it. Well, he did a terrible job and it completely came apart in less than 6 months. I spoke with Yaima, who further showed why this company is useless. She said I needed to file a claim with my home warranty company and they were refusing to come out to fix the half assed work he did. She was proud to not care and proud to blame it on the warranty company. She said I'd have to pay another $100 co-pay for them to come back out! Ha!! I Explained to her that at the end of the day they are just a contractor and that South cooling were the ones actually responsible for the quality of the work. She refused to allow me to file a complaint against the technician, and wouldn't let me send pictures of the terrible work renaldo did. Rest assured that if you use this company through a home warranty, they will not only do a terrible job, but won't follow through either. I guess they are ok with having their work last less than 6 months! My hope is that no one else will fall victim to this scam of a company. read more

I have an A/C Unit that is over 20 years old. I too am an America Home Shield customer. My unit just can't keep up anymore. Miguel is the tech who has been trying to keep my unit running for the past 6 months. He seems to be a good hard working tech. Very friendly and professional. I would have given 5 stars but.....and it's a BIG BUT.......America Home Shield said they WOULD REPLACE my unit if South Cooling would recommend a new unit. South Cooling WILL NOT recommend a new unit because they will lose my service call business. At least that is the only reason i can think of why they wouldn't recommend a 20+ year old unit that breaks down all the time be replaced with a new unit......Summer is here and I'm sure I will be calling for another service soon...... read more

Do NOT call this company!! The only reason we called this company is because our Landlord has American Home Shield. The a/c runs 24/7 and doesn't cool. Over $300 monthly electric bill. The first tech sat out in my driveway for 45 minutes texting on his phone. I called the company BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE by the way..I cancelled while he was still in my driveway. We had a second tech come out the same week..he was a total idiot he said there's nothing wrong with the A/C he blamed it not cooling on this heat we are having. The next 2 days the A/c froze over. We had another company come out they said the pipes are corroded and there's a refrigerant leak the unit is old and no good it needs to be replaced. We called South Cooling back and told them SEE! There IS SOMETHING WRONG! The Third tech said he didn't find anything there's no leak..I filled the refrigerant it's good now. Meanwhile our bill is still through the roof and it's hot as hell in here again. Our Landlord is willing to replace the unit but needs This company to verify which they haven't but they have taken $350 in her service fees each time to tell us there's nothing wrong. By far the worst company with the most incompetent technicians, not to mention an owner that could care less about his customers. Seriously reprehensible outfit that I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy. They are incredibly lazy, wasted almost 2 weeks of my and my tenant's time, and THE PROBLEM WAS STILL NEVER ADDRESSED!!! I finally called another company out and it took this new technician about 3 minutes to diagnose the issue. And another hour or so to fix it. Something South Cooling couldn't seem to do the 1st, 2nd OR 3rd time they came out for the service calls. One reason for that might be the fact that they have zero communication and just showed up, did a quick knock on my tenants door, and then left without calling me or the tenant to let them know they were there. Absolutely no concern whatsoever for the fact that there are people living in that apartment suffering through 95° temperatures inside the unit, for over a week and a half while this company drag their feet and made up excuses and still charged me for the trouble. Oh and it's worth noting that I placed several calls to the company and left messages, urgent messages asking that the owner contact me to discuss the situation. AHS sent this company out to my home for repair. After a week and installing what they claim was new parts the AC still does not work and will not hold Freon. They want $200 for Freon that leaked out immediately after they left even after I asked if they tested the system before the added Freon. Stay away, run away. This has to be the worst company when it comes to customer service. I have never dealt with a business this bad, they are worse than even Comcast and AT&T, so that's saying something. Had a service call and the woman on the phone gave me an appointment time slot. Time slot comes and goes. I call and was told the driver had vehicle issues so he would be there first thing the next morning. Next morning 11:30 am goes by no technician. I call her back and she tells me another lie. She is a pathological liar. It's really pathetic for her to be the main contact when you reach this company. I finally get a technician the fourth day. Technician comes out and looks at everything. Says everything checks out but can't explain why the house isn't staying cool. I call back and request a lead technician. I was told first that she left a voicemail for me the day I submitted the request. Looking at my phone, I did not get one phone call that day. Another lie. So I waited four days before following up because I hadn't heard from her. She says next appointment is the following week. I schedule it. Today was that appointment between 1 and 5. At 4:30 I call the liar back. Is he coming. Oh he's running late. He will call you 30 minutes before he comes. So I ask, so he's still coming tonight? I get repeatedly yes yes he will be there. Read other reviews. You will see that they are all the same. This company is a joke. They are unprofessional, incompetent, rude, and unethical. All they do is change parts. They give wrong diagnostics in order to charge you more money. They use used parts and tell you they are new. They have to go to the house 4, 5, even 6 times to fix the same problem. All while you are without a/c for weeks in 90+ degree heat. The technician comes out, and after 3 hours calls another tech, which he calls the "lead tech", and follows instructions over the phone to troubleshoot unit. In my case, it took them 3 techs, 2 different visits, and 3 days just to diagnose a bad compressor. Are you kidding me!!! Something as simple as a bad compressor. No customer service whatsoever. Call and speak to Yami, and you will see what bad service is. She is rude , inefficient, and yells at you like she is speaking to her child. They deserve 0 stars. Do yourself a favor, and go to somebody else, unless you like to be ripped off while being treated badly. read more

This company has no empathy for those of us that are baking in the heat in South Florida when our A/C goes out. They were given the job on Monday,6/17/19, and came out several hours after they were scheduled to be here on Tuesday, 6/18/19. The guy said he needed to get a part, but when we called the next day to see when he would be back with the part, we were told that all of their appointments were booked for the day and we would need to wait another day. He came back on the 20th and got the system working. The next day, we came home to a 90 degree house. We had to wait because they do not work on weekends, so he did not return until the 24th. This is now the 28th, and the rep still has not turned in the paperwork so that a part can be ordered. It has been 11 days of 90+ degree temperatures in my house. We call daily to find out what the holdup is, and are lied to consistently that it will be taken care of. Right now, even if the paperwork goes in tomorrow, I have been told that it will be another week before the part will get here, and we make another appointment To get my unit repaired. If you do not want to get sick from the heat; if you have pets or children that are not used to living in hell, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!! I will never use them again, and will put it out to all of my contacts just how bad this company is. Next on my list is a complaint to the BBB. read more

Update.. the fix South Cooling did in December was temporary at best as the unit has stopped working four more times and has yet to cool to the set temp. (It was temporarily better but I suspect only because the cooler winter temps put less demand on it -that and the fact that we don't run it daily in the winter.) The home warranty company keeps sending South Cooling back out since they did the first call and they continue to do temporary fixes! Despite the unit not cooling below 79-80 degrees, the last tech said the pressures were normal, the temps coming out are as they should be and the freon is at 100% (he supposedly took pics to document the freon level) and to "give it time"-"it will cool down over the next few hours." Fyi, they say this EVERY TIME!!! Not one time has the unit cooled as if it has been fixed while they are still present!! That has never been the case when I've had AC repairs at other homes, the tech has always stayed until they see the unit is working-ie cooling at the set temp! I guess this is the strategy they use get out the door and mark the call as complete so they can collect the fee from the home warranty company. Out of pure frustration after this most recent South Cooling visit we paid out of pocket for a service call w/another company-they arrived two hours after SC and said the unit only had 60% freon. I called back to SC and was essentially told the new tech must be lying as they have pics showing the level, I asked them if they would send the pics to us showing this, and of course was told no and that if I was not happy w/ what they did that I needed to call back to AHS and request another visit. Given it still won't cool below 80, I suspect the paid tech is not lying. The unit is older and it may be time to replace it, or at a minimum, to pay to add freon but if no one will diagnose it properly, how do we know!? Maybe the home warranty company is involved in this band-aid/patch approach too as they don't want to pay to replace the whole unit, but as far as the freon, they only pay $10per LB so the rest of that cost would be on us, which is fine, but diagnose it properly so we can! Given all the horrible reviews here I wonder if their business model is to just make the visit and collect the fees from the home warranty company-perhaps that is more lucrative than doing actual repairs. read more
