I have been going to south bay for 10 years. Never had an issue. I have only gone with Rosario which in fact shes amazing. I have referred multiple people with thems today I called in for a copy of my 1040. There was alot of miscommunication with the receptionist which was extremely rude. telling me it was 5$ for am email copy , then switched it to 25$. I have never had issues with South Bay. point of the situation is that I received an email saying they no longer want to do business with me. which I agree because i was no longer going to go. once again thank you Rosario for your 10 years of business but please train your staff to learn the " policies" and give them out correctly maybe this conversation would've gone differently. read more

Rude staff and had me wait for 20 mins for a notary before turning me away saying they can't help since they were close to closing time. Could have shown more grace in communicating and would have been helpful if they said this upfront rather than after making me wait. read more

You can consider this a follow up review since the one I did before was years ago. This place has always been my go to place for notary work and taxes. I've filed taxes here with Rosario and my fiancé with Hugo. They've always been helpful and transparent about everything. Rosario has always given me the BEST advise when it comes down to my taxes on what I should do next. So when I file, I can get a better return. Her advise alone has made filing taxes quick, painless, and profitable for myself. My advise during tax season is to make sure you gather all the required info and make an appointment. They usually have a lot of walk-in's which will make the wait longer but people don't seem to mind because they are the best at what they do. This is an updated review for South Bay Services. During the pandemic, my family and I moved to Northern California for a job opportunity. Needless to say, it's been crazy and hectic and probably like most we were late in filing taxes. We were so late we literally reached out to South Bay right before the deadline. Also because of the pandemic we assumed we could do everything online, and indeed we could. We worked with Jackie, and she got everything in on time, was thorough, made corrections to our info that needed to be made to ensure accuracy, and was pleasant all along the way. Seriously, if I move to Africa I'm still working with these folks. While I don't recommend everyone wait to the last minute like we did, I do HIGHLY recommend South Bay Services for your tax needs. read more

When I first walked in I had to request that the workers put on their mask. I was met with resistance and told that "there is glass between" which is not the same, and is not sufficient. Nor does it follow Covid-19 guidelines when servicing the public. I am high risk, and coming into a closed space with maskless people is not an option for me. After I requested that they mask up, 3/4 of the employees that were present did so. The notary services were however quick and efficient. If you choose to patronize their business, be sure to bring cash. They charge an additional fee for cards. read more

Hugo helped me at the beginning of the process and we worked together on my and my wife's tax returns. Unfortunately on the very last day when I requested a small update on our tax returns he didn't finish the job and never returned calls and emails. The first disservice I encountered was when we set up an appointment outside the regular business hours (9 AM-6 PM), at 7 AM. I arrived at 7:05 and somebody was already there! I waited until 8:40 to finally meet him. This means that he takes multiple, conflicting, appointments outside the business hours. Very unprofessional. The biggest issue with him was that I wasted my and my fife's time going to his office to complete literally 90% of our respective tax returns. He sent us the final drafts to review. I found one minor issues to fix and notified him via multiple emails. He didn't answer to them. That really bothered me. I then went to his office to talk to him and he confirmed he received my emails. I also took the chance to write down in a piece of paper for him the exact changes I needed. He understood and told me that he would send me the updated tax returns draft in a couple of hours. That was the last time I saw him or heard from him. Multiple emails, calls to his secretary etc. His voicemail is full. The secretary dropped my call after seeing that I insisted calling. I can't really understand what's wrong with these guys. No notice of noting. Not even telling me that he was busy or that he could not finish my tax returns for whatever reason. I was totally ignored and I had to look somewhere else for my tax returns. Good luck. UPDATE after Hugo's response: "Hugo, you never told me about any of these issues in my tax returns because you basically stopped talking to me! And now you use the excuse of Turbotax? Ridiculous. I was kindly asking you to let me know if you wanted to finish the tax return or not. NO ANSWER!!! I didn't use turbotax. I ended up goimg to a different CPA who charged me more than you. It was money well spent for an outstanding service. Me and Paul (the other CPA) had multiple interactions via email and via phone because he ANSWERED my emails and calls. Please see my yelp review of his business. I attached a photo of it. You warmly welcome customers with big smiles, accomodating promises, and kind words, then don't follow up with the work. I come from Orlando Florida to get my taxes done here, yes, it is the loyalty that I have to them because of the amazing work they do, their attention to detail, and their caring. Yes ,it gets crowded, and there is a reason for that-it is just the place to get it done!...make an appointment and everything will be ok. I've done my taxes here for the last couple of years and they are really good. They are ETHICAL and very knowledgeable with regards to the tax code. Rosario will not file anything that is not substantiated without legal documentation, no SHADY deals at this place. I would recommend making an appointment so you don't have to wait as a walk in. I made appointments and I waited about 20 minutes tops. Her staff is very helpful and can answer most questions so long as you have all your documentation. read more

We came in for a tax "consultation". I called beforehand to get more information. We seemed interested and came in as a "walk-in". Since it was our first time we did not know which tax preparer would be able and who would be a good personality match for us. I was a little nervous because our previous one had screwed us over and we had a lot of questions. It's tax season and most tax preparers don't have the time to explain and go line item by line item. Most just enter all these numbers and tell you what you "owe" or your "refund" amount will be. Hugo was great as soon as he invited us into his office. He is bilingual, made us feel comfortable, was patient, HONEST, detailed and answered all my questions. We didn't feel rushed. He gave us options & advice. Our consultation was over an hour long. I like that this place is a family business. So they strive for customer service and meeting there expeditions. Hugo and his family have a lot of experience + knowledge. They also offer lots of other services. So glad to have found this place and eager to complete our 2017 taxes w/ SouthBay Services. Office is also super cute if that matters to anyone. If you going to file taxes Hugo and Jackie are great. Nayeli which is the girl in the front desk is rude. I said hi to her twice and she just ignored me. I ask her a question and she reply rude. I was looking for a notary service along with a printing documents service. I googled nearby places. Honestly, I didn't look up reviews as I usually do, so I had no idea how satisfied I'd be until I actual got serviced.. I called South Bay Services and receptionist Nayeli (I hope I got her name right) answered my questions. I get there and am greeted and she attends me quickly. Everything I needed, she dId and quick! The first thing I liked was that walk ins are welcomed I didn't have to make an appt. If you want to make an appt, I recommend making it in advance because Hugo is a popular guy. When meeting with Hugo I showed him all my paper work and he took care of the rest. Afterwards, he explained to me the breakdown of what everything meant since it was my first time doing taxes. So I used South Bay Services for some previous years tax's I neglected to file (shame on me)! I sent several yelp questions to several TAX services in the area to get a feel for price and scheduling. Hugo was prompt in his replies although Yelp said it takes them 4 days. I was able to drop 2 years worth of tax's off at 10 AM and came back at 4 PM to pick them up and pay. He went line by line and charged a VERY reasonable fee. It's a family business that just secured my business moving forward! read more

I just filed my 2018 income taxes with South Bay Services and they were fantastic ! I was a walk in and they were busy but i was still seen pretty quickly . I meet with Hugo and he was very nice and helped me with a couple questions I had which he answered no problem. He even gave me a quote to do my father in laws taxes which was great. Over all the experience was great everyone was very friendly and helpful and only ended up paying $85 for a married filing jointly tax return. I was very impressed with how quickly they were getting people in and out usually I am waiting for hours.
