Where to even begin with South Bay Customs? I was lucky enough to stumble upon this amazing gem while searching for a non-traditional wedding reception venue. Last year I spent a good three months trying to find a spot that would suit us. I finally found SBC and I immediately fell in love with the photos online. When I called the owner, Michael, to inquire, he was friendly, straightforward, and explained everything I needed to know before booking their spot. To be clear, SBC is a million times easier to work with than just about every other venue I found up to that point. So many places had a laundry list of restrictions, requirements and downsides that I just couldn't swallow. SBC is as laid back, honest, and transparent as they come. Michael always made himself available to me and my day-of coordinator, as well as the other vendors (three food trucks, bartenders, tattoo artists, photographers, photo booth, band, security guards) who had questions. He even worked directly with our live band to ensure all of our sound was great and everything was in order. Although we had food trucks for guests to choose from, we ended up hiring Michael to do barbecue for the kids. His brisket is out of this world, and it was a huge hit. Our party lasted from 6:00 PM to midnight, and for all six of those hours, I swear just about every guest at the event came up to me at some point to gush about this venue. Everyone couldn't believe how cool and unique it was. "How did you find this place?!" was the question of the night. Everything about our party leaves me glowing. South Bay Customs could not have a more solid place in my heart if it tried. Every little detail is perfection, and I can't wait to come back for one of their comedy shows. We hosted my son's bar mitzvah party here with about 100 guests, and it was EPIC! Working with Michael was easy and stress-free. The guests were complimenting the party space all night and for days after. There was plenty of room to dance and plenty of space, indoor and outdoor, to sit comfortably. We loved all of the cozy nooks for socializing. The decor is awesome and required little from us, which was nice. We chose to have a taco bar but asked Michael to supplement with a smoked brisket. If that isn't reason enough to book this venue, it's also just plain cool as hell. The space is unlike any other in this city, in all the best ways. It's got so much character -- the decor has been so lovingly curated and keeps you from having to pour weeks of your life into decorating a space. Our guests said "cool" a collective 10,000 times throughout our event and they weren't talking about their hosts. Michael made it a turnkey experience for us, helped coordinate with vendors, ran point with our band, and from start to finish, was always most pleasant to work with and very patient with even the dumbest of questions. I've been going for a few years now for my friend's band playing live karaoke (Porkchop Express) but decided to celebrate my 50th here with just my friends. Michael put me in touch with everyone I needed (taco cart, bartender) to make the night go off without a hitch and worked with me every step of the way until the party was over. Porkchop Express made me and everyone feel like rock stars with live band karaoke. The space accommodated my party without anyone feeling cramped and he even added a table in the back area so people could sit and eat while still getting to the stage to rock out and dance. I booked this venue for my mome 61st birthday party. The ambiance at the venue was absolutely perfect. All our guests walked in and had the same reaction..."Wow, this place is cool!". The decor is eclectic, the lighting throughout was exactly what I had in mind. The sound and lighting from the stage was amazing! It felt like being at a mini concert. Plenty of space for dancing and believe me we used it! Mike was very easy to work with throughout this process. I was able to text him with any questions from booking to even the day after the party. I had the privilege of having some nice conversations with Mike and I felt like I was saying goodbye to friend when I was leaving the venue after the party. My wife and I had a joint 50th birthday party at SBC. I could not have asked for a better experience or interaction. Mike was extremely flexible and helpful with all the vendors, very detailed, and was available when I needed him. There were some challenges with my furniture vendor, but Mike was flexible and helped tremendously. The food truck in the back was awesome, the band on stage was great and everyone loved the location and the environment. It was such a great event I might consider having another event at this location. My band loved the stage, Mike provided great lighting, and sound was spot on. The band had no problem getting there to prepare. The bar at SBC have there was great for my needs. The slide show running was an added bonus. With COVID still being a thing, the outside location was great for people to mingle. Very reasonable and very fair cannot say enough good things about them. South Bay Customs is a fantastic venue with an amazing owner. This is one of the most unique, stand-out, and engaging venues I have ever seen. We had the privilege of hosting a surprise birthday party at SB Customs last weekend and we were blown away by everything. My wife booked this venue months ago after searching high and low for the perfect venue. After much searching, she was blessed to find Mike and South Bay Customs. With an interior that is part hotrod/motorcycle garage, part rock and roll lounge, to everything in between, the premises is roomy, inviting, and absolutely unique. There is a stage to accommodate a band, a dance floor on which to cut some serious rug, a large dining area with tables, an inviting patio, full kitchen facilities, and a bar area (which I worked the night of the party). The interior is decorated with awesome memorabilia and custom bikes built by Mike, the owner. The sound for the band is on point, thanks to Mike's expertise hosting bands. The lighting makes for the perfect atmosphere as well. We couldn't have asked for a better facility to host our special surprise party! Lastly, but certainly the most notable aspect of our experience at South Bay Customs, was our experience with Mike, the owner. There are far too few owners and facilitators that are as helpful, kind, understanding, communicative, and involved as Mike is. Mike was with us every step of the way, and was incredibly helpful. Mike has poured his heart into South Bay Customs, and it certainly shows. Mike is not only awesome at what he does, but he is simply a wonderful person. Kindness, helpfulness, and genuine character are traits not commonly found these days, which makes people like Mike all the more appreciated. I had my wedding here in Nov 2022, and I couldn't have picked a better place! From the beginning, Michael and his wife were so kind and informative, let us see revisit the venue whenever we wanted before the event, and answered all questions we had. The minute we walked in we knew it was the perfect venue to fit our style as we were going for a very non-traditional, Alt wedding. I would always describe it to people as a Biker Bar/ antique shop aesthetic. The day off, my DJ didn't end up working out and Michael and his wife took over the music and lighting and let's just say the dance floor was never empty. I cannot thank them enough for literally saving my wedding and I can't get over how beautiful the venue looked. Even more so, at night, with all the lights outside and everyone loved the patio upstairs. One compliment I always go back to is a family member saying "it was the most beautiful and unique wedding I've ever attended." Still get compliments on it to this day. And Michael even helped us find a cleaning crew in the end, so we literally did not have to worry about anything except enjoying ourselves. Not only is SB Customs a great venue for a gathering; working with Michael, the owner, is an absolute gem! From start to finish, he made the entire experience pleasurable! Michael is professional and makes himself available when you need to him; he offered insights about vendors he's worked with in the past; he is patient and willing to work with your needs (i.e, see the space again, practice run with video); made suggestions with regard to rentals and how to layout the space; and overall, a downright patient, kind and compassionate man! His wife is just as wonderful as he is, too! The space speaks for itself when you walk in -- it's perfect for a large gathering; the mood and atmosphere changes as you move about from the front to the outside space; it's eclectic yet inviting; the seating throughout the space is unique with booths, chairs and couches; the stage is great for entertaining your guests and Michael will assist you with your audio needs. We hired a food truck and it was easy for them to set up and the guests had no issues getting their food. We bought a keg and wine and hired bartenders recommended by Michael and they did a phenomenal job! We also hired the cleaning crew per Michael's recommendation and so glad we did. It was affordable and one less thing me and my family had to worry about post-party. I couldn't be more happy with my experience at SB Customs! All of my guests loved the space and said it was perfect for our event and even afterward, I'm still getting calls from guests raving about what a great time they had and how much they enjoyed the space. Parking was not an issue for my guests but it was also a holiday weekend and the surrounding businesses were closed so we had ample street parking and access to their lots. I had my 50th birthday here and I could not have asked for anything more! The space is truly magical. Amazing sound system (for DJ or live music), TV's to play movies/slideshows, and a bar already built so just need to bring your own beverages which can save a lot of money. The details of the indoor/outdoor space are thoughtful, unique/rock and roll yet warm. Couches and tables are outside, heaters, bulb lights and plenty of space for large parties. Lighting makes for incredible pictures. We had a food truck which made it super easy for planning and there's a back area for drop off of rentals. Highly recommend for corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, whatever. My guests commented on the space throughout the night and absolutely loved it. The venue has a beautiful outdoor/indoor area, perfect for gatherings (especially during this crazy time) and affordable. We brought in a photo booth, our own booze, a bouncy castle to keep the kids entertained, (and quite a few adults), dueling pianos, and we put together a family band and performed a set for our guests. Michael at South Bay Customs is a creative "Master of All Trades." He is the owner, professional sound engineer, smokes a mean brisket and pulled pork with all the fixings, and can build you a custom motorcycle...and those are just the things we know about! South Bay Customs packs a lot of value. Live Music Stage PA and Sound System Built in that can play your own playlist. Michael is the sound engineer for the live music. Built in Reclaimed Wood Bar. Full Catering Kitchen On Site Catering available. He was able to provide wait staff, bartenders and a cleaning crew. Already decorated. Just bring in tables and chairs. Best party venue in LA! My company had our holiday party at SBC and were not disappointed. Mike was very attentive and helpful during the planning process. He was prompt and thorough when answering questions, and was on-site the night of the party to help out. The venue is so unique. We were able to have a burger truck and churro truck pull up into the alley. SBC has picnic tables, an amazing outdoor patio space, and an inside dance floor! We had a live band perform on the stage and brought a DJ along for downtime. We also had a photobooth set up inside (although there is an area outside as well). Clean up was easy and would definitely recommend this space for any event! One downside is that parking during the week is scarce. Although I reached out to neighboring businesses and was able to secure parking - you just gotta get savvy! read more

I searched all over the South Bay Area for an awesome place to host my fathers 50th birthday, and after almost settling for a cheesy hipster joint, I found this (almost speak-easy) place that you would never know existed. Which honestly makes it that much more of a surprise. When you walk in, it's like a time warp. You walk through a room of the past. Very museum like. Saw a show here this past weekend and I cant think of a cooler venue. The walls are covered in vintage stuff, sweet bikes and a nice putdoor patio area and deck. It made me feel like I was at a party on sons of anarchy (but without the bikers). They had bbq pork sliders and coleslaw there and for 5 bucks its probably the best meal I've had in a while for the price. I just celebrated my husband's birthday party at South Bay Customs in El Segundo. What a perfect venue if you want a mix of art, music and beautiful motorcycles. Michael is so easy to work with and his state of the art sound system made my musicians very happy. My guests were amazed as they wandered through all the beautiful artwork on the walls as well as the amazing bikes on display. Even the kitchen had a Wolf range and industrial size fridge that made me a little jealous. Made food prep so much easier. No detail over looked. The venue already had tons of decorations and a great atmosphere which saved my wife and I a lot of money on decorations. Tons of our guests came up to us during the event and complimented us on how amazing the venue was. Since Michael was at the venue during the event, we didn't have to hire security and we were able to approach him with questions if we needed help. Michael has worked on 2 of my Harleys. And being that the nature of motorcycles is that you always either HAVE to fix them or WANT to upgrade them.. I stop by this place pretty damn often. SBC always takes good care of me. If you're looking for someone to work on your bagger, chopper, bobber or whatever and don't wanna get bent over or sold a bunch of crap you don't need this is your spot. He'll give you a no BS assessment of the state of your scoot and if he quotes you a price to do something you can guarantee it's gonna be fair. I trust Michael very much and will continue to bring him business as long as I'm on two wheels. Also, he won't give you a hard time about not knowing how to work on your own bike especially when it comes to the technical stuff. I bought a Harley Sportster with a record of being serviced the week before at Southbay Customs. The work order said they had rejetted the carburetor, replaced the fork seals, replaced the primary gasket, and adjusted the clutch. Well, not long after riding the bike on the freeway, I began to notice that after being run wide open for a bit of time, the bike would sputter and die. I brought it to another mechanic who looked at the carburetor and noticed that the float bowl wasn't adjusted properly causing the bike to run out of fuel when ran wide open for an extended period of time, as you would on the freeway. Seems like a pretty straightforward problem any decent mechanic would know to avoid. I also noticed a slow leak from the primary, which I thought couldn't be due to the primary gasket since it was just replaced. I tried replacing the O-ring at the primary plug, but it would still leak constantly. Turns out, the primary gasket had a break in it. Don't know if that happened in the week after they replaced it or if they just didn't replace it. After that was fixed, I was idling at a light when I heard a pop and my clutch cable suddenly went slack. I looked down to see a dent popping out of my derby cover. Turns out, my clutch adjustment screw had been turned in too tight and I had been riding around like that which caused a whole lot of extra heat and that pin had just fired out and almost busted through the derby cover. Now I have to pay for an entirely new clutch because this one is destroyed. And, to top it all off, when I called Southbay Customs to talk to them, they never answered nor returned my calls. You stay classy, Southbay Customs! This place has 12 reviews and 11 of them are 5-stars? Yeah right! That just means this mechanic's got 11 friends writing yelp reviews for him. Three of them just talk about it as a venue and not as a motorcycle shop. Oops. Another reviewer says "And being that the nature of motorcycles is that you always either HAVE to fix them or WANT to upgrade them.. I stop by this place pretty damn often." Sorry buddy, you really shouldn't have to go to your mechanic often if he is doing a good job. SBC is more than just an incredible motorcycle shop, its a fabulous venue! I just celebrated my 40th Birthday at SBC with a themed 1970's disco party and it was the amazing place. Michael, the owner, was extremely helpful with all the details, making sure everything was going to be perfect for me. Well, he succeeded! It was a new venue for my guests and they were all raving at the uniqueness and fantasist ambiance! The price was reasonable compared to other Southbay venues and I looked for MONTHS to find just the right venue. Parking isnt an issue at night, which for the Southbay, that is always a big concern. Im not into motorcycles, but having them out, displayed as artwork was a big hit for the men and women!
