They may not have a ton of signage on the road, but the red roof of the brewhouse is sign enough. There's fields of lines for hops, currently unused due to drainage issues, we were told, the brewhouse and acres of other fields. Our stop in the brewhouse got us some samples and paid 4oz tasters of their beer, and I got a 1L growler of their wheat beer for $13, including the bottle deposit. While they don't take returns, they will refill any brand of growler, for a very reasonable price of $6-7. There's also several kinds of lavender-scented beauty and hygiene products for sale, since that's one of their other main crops. The friendly owners suggested we take a stroll down the path to see their pigs, turkeys, and chickens, and it wasn't only my 3 year old niece that enjoyed this. If you're touring through the valley-ish area, you should definitely make a stop in at Meander River.

It is definitely off the beaten path but that is part of its charm. It is a family run farm and brewery. I am not sure if you can get a more "local" beer. They grow their own hops (among a few other things) and brew it on site. I am not a beer drinker, but what I tried was nice. My husband really liked the Honey Brown Ale. I was lucky enough to have a taste of their Cider. It was excellent - super flavorful and crisp. I would have taken some with me but it wasn't all ready yet. They also grown their own lavender and have different lavender products. Aside from a great product, it was very interesting to hear the family's story. The farm has been in the family for a long time although the building and brewery is much newer. We ended up staying for quite a long time hanging out with Alan, Brenda and Campbell. Very hospitable and their passion is self-evident. They also offer farm tours and heck you can sign up for a hand-on experience. Highly recommend! It was a unique experience.

I asked to bring my…read moredog in and was granted permission by an employee only for the old man to come over to disrespectfully tell me to take the dog out. I told him when I asked I was given permission and he proceeded to add even ruder and more loudly than the first time that he told me to get it out! Let me state, there are no signs saying pets are not permitted and respectfully I did ask in which I was told yes before hand. My friend and I kindly left our baskets on the counter and took our business elsewhere. I left quietly, put the dog in the car and returned to tell him how inappropriately rude he was and that I would be making this review.

It's just minutes away from the downtown and is the perfect stop on your way back for lunch after an hour or two lost in the Noggin's corn maze. The parking lot around the main building is a total gong show, so go slow and keep your eyes peeled for unaware city slickers who are all but guaranteed to step out in front of your bumper with no notice. Still, you can't really blame them-the fresh baked goods (sticky buns! still warm!), gorgeous produce, and general charm of the farmhouse is enough to make anyone lose grip on reality. You can also pick up picking bags at the cash before trekking up into the apple fields. Sections are loosely marked to show off Cortlands, Macs, Red Delicious, Empire, and many more, but you'll see most people hiking aimlessly up the mountain for about thirty minutes on their way to the Honeycrisps. You can mix any of the apples into a single bag since they're all the same cost, except for the much pricier Honeycrisp apples. We were told the following from the lady behind the cash: "If I see so much as one Honeycrisp in your bag, I'm charging you for a full bag of Honeycrisp. I don't even care." Unnecessarily serious, if you ask me. But hey...them's the rules.

Believe the hype! Don't waste your time with fish & chips anywhere else - this is the only stop in…read morethe Valley if you're looking for the best fish & chips. Right on Main St in canning where parking is limited out front but many nearby lots for free. The space is not accessible sadly, as there are a few spots to get in. Watch out for the suicide door! Not sure what's going on here, but the hinges need to be readjusted because the door flies open when you turn the knob (also not great for accessibility vs. a handle - and requires Superman to close). So be warned! Minor details aside - the menu is small but priced well for the freshest fish and best local ingredients. The food was clean, not greasy and very tasty. This place is great for take out but also for sitting in if it's not packed. It's really small and quaint with only a few tables so if you're coming in tourist season - call ahead or be prepared for take out only! In addition - this is the new home/bottling location for Pay Day cider where you can purchase on tap, in bottles or refill your own. We only had the Dry cider and while it was nice, it was a little on the sweeter and carbonated side. There are multiple flavours to choose from. We've tried all the spots in the Valley and this is many points above the rest! We watched as people came and went for take out the entire hour we were there. It was telling to see many seniors coming in to pick up family-sized meals.
