I came here to ask about repairing the charging port on my Samsung Galaxy S7. There was only one guy working at the time, so it was a bit of a wait. It turns out the wait was worth it. He explained that the repair needed is very difficult due to the way the phone is built. He even stated the screen could potentially crack during repair. What he recommended was buying a wireless charger for my phone. I had been without a phone for a week and hadn't remembered or thought of wireless charging. Because of his suggestion, I now have a working phone without paying the cost of an expensive repair. NO other shop we went to in College Station suggested this to me. I've been to Sour Apple many times to get my screen replaced and I initially had no problems. I noticed that there were a few lighter spots on my screen and when I asked them about it, they said my battery was pushing against the screen and thus causing the lighter spots. Fast forward a few months, when I got my battery replaced by Apple, the light spots did not go away. I asked the technician what they were and they said that the screen was not calibrated and thus the light spots were dead pixels. I'm extremely disappointed that I was lied to probably because they could not and would not fix the problem. I would be less upset had they charged me less than what the Apple store charges but they charge about the same because they can take advantage of the fact that there is no Apple in town. My iPhone recently started dropping contacts. People I have known forever, like my brother and his son. I saw this place while turning into the parking lot to go to another business, and decided to run in and see if they could figure out this mystery to me. A young man took a minute and was able to retrieve my "lost" contacts. His explanation was it seemed a recent update made the cloud burp and not all my contacts were visible. They are now that he changed the setting. A wonderful, quick, knowledgeable experience, much better than when I went to Apple store for similar "losses" to my downloaded music. Absolutely thrilled to have found this place. I had a (known) problem with my iphone 6 where I couldn't send/receive calls and I had a cracked screen. Taylor greeted me and throughly explained possible causes and fixes and went over what they offered as far as repair. I was so impressed as she was well versed in the hardware configuration and the know-how of resolving it all the way to the logic board. I was fixed and on my way in an hour's time and my phone looked brand new. She knew and handled my situation perfectly! Best quote after shopping around in town and in Brenham for cracked glass screen on iPhone XR. Also get free screen protector (usually $5-20). Quote online says will take 1 hour but it only took 20 minutes. They can do a cheaper price if for whatever reason you can find the glass part cheaper, but after looking at Amazon they are charger $50-70 for labor/replacing. I'm not sure what all goes into the process tho. It was good to know that the part was at least half the cost as opposed to the majority of what I'm paying for was labor. read more

My iPad mini had a crack in it that had made it unusable since the touch sensor would malfunction. I took it here since we are in the area, but they didn't have the screen in stock, but they let me leave the iPad there and did not ask for payment until after the repair. I did not receive a call that it was finished, but I checked back the following Monday (turned iPad in on Wednesday), and it was repaired! Well...it happened. For the first time in 10 years of having a phone I finally cracked my first screen at 6:45 on a Friday night. Not just some little crack either, it was a full blown screen shatter and half of the screen went dark. I had just rendered an extension of my hands completely useless. So I took to google (on my fiancé's phone) to find a screen repair place stat! Sour Apple had great reviews and was still open for 10 more minutes (closed at 7). Problem is, I live 12 minutes away. I called and the angle on the other end of the line said he would still help me even though they were about to close, AND he could have it done in 30-45 min. So I left the house at 6:50 without any mobile GPS to tell me where I was headed. Well, being a college age girl I have absolutely no sense of direction without my phone. I headed to the general area of southwest parkway and Texas Ave. Luckily Siri had survived the fall and I called my angels once more! It gets even better! I had not been home all day and my fur baby needed some fresh air and didn't want to be left at home again. So I ask the angel, upon arrival, if I could bring my fur child in to sit with me while I waited. Answer? Yes! I expected to be there for much longer than I was. I was out in 20 mins tops, got to wait with my dog, after close, on a Friday night! These guys are amazing! Somehow my phone looks better than before and I got a free glass protector out of it! It only cost me $102 (that's including tax). For the rush, customer service, and quality of the repair it 1,000,000,000% worth it! Highly recommend these guys for any phone repair! read more

We brought in an iPad that had suddenly stopped working. The staff, while ultimately helpful, appeared not to be very comfortable with customer service. They mentioned that they were having staffing issues, so I guess these things happen. However, I was pretty annoyed that they never called back when they said they would with an update. It took a long time on hold and then several visits to get an idea of the status. Finally, when they gave up two weeks later, they simply handed it back to me, and didn't come forward with an explanation of what the problem might have been until I pressed them on it. Interestingly as well - when we dropped off the iPad, we did not automatically get a receipt or any kind of claim check. I honestly don't know what kind of security measures they have for watching expensive electronics go in and out of the store, but if there were such controls, it was soon clear I wasn't going to get an explanation from the customer service folks. I ended up asking for a receipt, and after telling me I didn't need one, they printed it out anyway. When I drop off dry cleaning, I get a claim check. I don't know why this seemed to bemuse an establishment that is handling the $800 worth of electronics for which I need repair. It was also interesting that the iPad repair was listed under my wife's name, yet I was able to come in and claim the device without being asked for ID or even presenting the receipt I was given. Again, there might be some kind of controls in place, but other than facial recognition from surreptitious video monitoring or some other kind of covert technology (perhaps thermal imaging for detecting signature baseline levels of annoyance?), it was a mystery to me. I will grant that they appeared to be diligent with trying to fix the problem - they did try out several batches of batteries - but when it became clear that further fixes were probably untenable, it would have been nice to have received a call telling us so. I am fully aware that not all repairs are within the abilities of any repair service (be it Sour Apple or any other place), and I don't necessarily need smiley happy people present at customer service, but I _do_ expect some follow through on promised callbacks and status updates that I don't have to chase down. In sum: these are probably just the folks you need to repair a cracked iPhone screen. If you enter the store intending to tremulously hand over a very expensive electronic device that has suddenly and mysteriously stopped working, you might as well put their number on your contacts list because you will be calling them a lot. read more

The first time I got my screen repaired here, it worked good for a couple of weeks (I paid $150). I was pretty satisfied with it until it started messing up pretty bad and then just finally stopped working completely. I took it back in hopes of getting it fixed for free, they charged me $25. Not too bad, until recently it started being weird again (spazzing out and randomly typing) They put a screen protector on for me right after repairing it for the second time. A few months later I had a few cracks in it & when I took the screen protector off to put a new one on, the cracks were also on my screen. I am beyond frustrated with this place. I don't recommend especially if you are on a college budget. My iPhone 8 Plus is basically ruined. read more

The girl was super nice and friendly. No hidden charges- to change to charge port was $54 and comes with a lifetime warranty. Nice. I checked around and this seems to be the standard price to change the port, outside of just buying the part yourself and fixing it, but I ain't got time for that. I had my iPad's glass replaced. The repair was fast, professional, and at a fair price. My iPad is as good as new -- actually, better, due to the free screen protector. Minus one star because it was originally promised at 4, but wasn't ready until after 7. It's a complicated procedure and would've taken me weeks to order the parts and tools and there's a huge chance of screwing it up, so all issues aside, it's a huge win. My only problem was having to walk into a head shop... err, smoke shop to get the repair, and the hours that they're open. It'd be nice to be able to drop off a device for service or repair in the morning. Have someone to take orders, or some way to drop devices, even if no actual repair is going. Word is that they're going to be adding custom laser engraving for the aluminum cases in the near future, which is awesome. read more

My iPhone 6's replacement screen came off the frame of my phone within a week. Blamed it on their manufacturer they claimed to be A++ OEM iPhone screens. Replacement screen also has a blue tinge to it when it comes to colors. AND contrast has dropped, so all photos look flat. Very disappointed. read more

I went to Sour Apple Repair in College Station with a problem: I couldn't get my Mac laptop to recognize and sync photos stored on either of two "smart phones." So it wasn't a problem of equipment needing repair, but rather a need for expertise that I lacked. For the record, I am a middle-aged woman, fairly adept with some aspects of things digital, but perpetually confused about how to get different devices to connect and share files. It wasn't clear to me if it was a problem with the phones, the computer, or just me -- or some combination thereof. I went on a Monday morning, and was fortunate to get patient and helpful guidance from Wilber, the staff person on duty. During the hour or so I spent at the shop, I witnessed him interacting with many other customers. Most of them had more straightforward repair-related issues. When someone entered with a phone that needed repair but could be more economically repaired elsewhere (or through phone insurance), he didn't hesitate to point that out. He was consistently kind and helpful to everyone who entered. And all the while, he helped me go step by step through all that I needed to do to get my devices in sync and get access to my photos.
