When I worked on Schulterblatt, this was our spot for lunch at least twice a week! Our diet plan…read morewas to eat more soup and salad so that we could avoid all those hearty carbs, such as the juicy hamburgers and thick cut pommes that can be found at the Bullerei. The only catch is that they have this extremely delicious bread that goes perfectly dunked into any which soup you choose but I adore the creamier options, so you end up eating more bread than soup that ruined our diet regimen, haha! If you are going to splurge on high calorie soup and endless dipping bread, please come here, it is delicious. The shop is a bit small, so if you plan to sit down during lunch rush you may find it a bit crowded as the inside has one bar to sit near the window and an outdoor bench style park table that seats comfortable 4 people. Its friendly, quick, uncomplicated and tasty. Typically more of a lunch type soup shop!

But this is a first time I went back to this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed. I was only 4 days in Hamburg and went twice to eat here. I know why everyone recommends Frau Möller! Well deserved!…read more A bit gruff and very crowded at lunch, but for good reason. Ice cold delicious beer and hot authentic local German food. Our waitress was fluent in English and made us feel welcome in a "so you're not from around her, but that's okay, sit here" kind of way.... Very pleasant! The beer was plentiful and ice cold, and we had the Wienerschnitzel (I know... cliché, but oh so good!), and it came out fast, hot and delicious. Also, for French Fries fans... these were thin, hot and crispy! (Not a big fan of soft fries/chips). Right near the train station for a meal before you travel, or while you're waiting to check into your hotel. We'll be back!

A little find on the search for hot food for lunch…read more Small establishment with eat in available and also takeaway. I opted for takeaway. My first venture I decided for to try the vegetarian peanut curry. This was served with rice and very tasty with not a piece of Tofu in sight (not that it said there was which is why I opted for it). My second visit (the very next day) I went for Thai soup with soup really being their focus (hence the name!!). Having remembered me from the previous day, they were ahead of me with my requirements. Notably, they do have a good range of soups available and even give calorie details for them! Only down side for this restaurant is that there is no English menu. I looked them up and translated what I wanted from their website and then went to order. Whilst their English was very good, I wouldn't want them to have to run through the menu for me. However, this is typical of Hamburg at the moment, I'm hoping one day for more English menus to be available in restaurants/cafes. I had assumed that I would have to warm the soup up when I got back to the office as I tend to find takeaway hot food is not really so hot! But no! The soup was piping hot still which was great. It did slow my eating somewhat, but in a good way! and they give a little bread roll to help soak up the last bits. Service was quick so queue does go down quickly if you encounter this. I'm very pleased with this discovery.

Service could have been a bit more attentive but in comparison to other restaurants we've experienced in Germany this week, it was great. Beef with garlic, which was served with two potatoes in a tangy sauce was excellent. Dates wrapped in bacon, which we ordered a second time. Shrimp in garlic. Grilled peppers (my favorite). Manchego cheese was a good portion and served with apple slices. Note that they translate their Spanish menu into German. They do not have an English menu, so bring your Google Translate and you'll be fine. Lots of very good food, not terribly expensive. We had fun. [Review 12062 overall, 1845 of 2019.]
