I'm not sure it gets better than Zum Spätzle!!!!! Tired and hungry, attempting to dodge the rain I ducked into ZS for lunch. Talk about luck!!!! The waitress was beyond helpful and provided a menu in English upon request. This quaint little spot offered such a relaxing vibe, that was much needed! Now for the food..... I honestly don't even know where to begin. This was my first time eating Spätzle and I was surprised at how incredibly delicious it was. I spent another 1.5 weeks in DE after eating this, and from North to South I did not have a better Spätzle than ZS!!!!!! Please go check out Sum Spätzle!!! You won't be disappointed!!!!

Raspberry pancakes ( dessert ) so good!!

BEST FOOD I HAD IN HAMBURG!!!!!! AmazIng authentic southern Bavarian German food. This place was soo good and the staff was so friendly and nice. We came here twice we liked it so much. The spatzle was so yummy. I got the cheese with sauce and my mom just had sauce. I preferred mine hehe (: absolutely incredible!!

Traditional swabian comfort food. Not a lot of options in menu. We took lentils and Spätzle. The lentils mash had nice flavor to it, but the Spätzle just felt like raw pasta which wasnt that interesting. We also took German dumplings (Maultaschen). I was not a fan though my friend was. The soup was good though. The desert (some apple pancake with vanilla ice cream, forgot the name) was surprisingly very good. All ingredient completed each other. Also keep in mind the place is very small with only a few tables.

If you are in Hamburg, and you don't eat lunch or dinner here, I'm gonna be mad at you. Totally perfect. Don't miss it. Great food, great English speaking staff! I had the Maultauchen app and it was awesome, a dumpling filled with meat and spinach. Outstanding flavor. I then moved on to the meatloaf and Spätzle, which was the best I've had in years. The sauce over it all was to die for! I might come back for dinner tonight!

Still a good spot for Spatzl and traditional southern style food. Good service as well. Quaint and small restaurant.

Cheese Spätzle with bacon and onions. Side of brown sauce.

Wow. I used to live in Munich when I was a kid and have fond memories of eating Spätzle. Eating the Spätzle here was like that scene from Ratatouille, where the food critic takes that bite of food and is transported to his youth. The Spätzle is handmade and delicious. They seem to take great care to source quality ingredients. I had the cheese Spätzle with onions and bacon. I also requested a little of their brown sauce/gravy on the side. This place is also vegan friendly, with vegan options of most of their dishes. Would definitely recommend this place.

Madultaschen (dumpling from south Germany Swabian area) with minced meat and spinach

This is a snug, quaint restaurant that serves traditional food from Swabia, a region in south Germany, for lunch and dinner. It's cozy with a peaceful ambiance and specializes in Spätzle (Swabian soft pasta) and Maultaschen (Swabian dumpling). There are many vegetarian and vegan options, as well as an English menu. I tried cheese Spätzle with caramelized onions, sheep's cheese, and smoked tofu (all Spätzle is served with a basic side salad) and Maultaschen stuffed with minced meat and spinach. Both dishes were very fresh tasting with seemingly high quality ingredients and nice preparation. However, I was disappointed as I didn't find either lived up to the mostly outstanding reviews this place has. I thought both were good, but I didn't think either was particularly flavorful. I wouldn't go here expecting an outstanding tasting meal, but nonetheless it's a nice little restaurant to try some authentic food.

Had the Homemade dumplings--Maultashen, spatzle soup, caraway bread and a chocolate brownie w vanilla ice cream. High quality outstanding meal in a small unassuming setting. Everything homemade. An outstanding meal.

This place is amazing! Delicious German cuisine. We had the Spätzel with meatloaf and the Maultaschen with egg. We are going back on Sunday before we return to Copenhagen.

The best spätzle in town, the place is really cozy and the people very friendly. If you are looking for german food, this is the best place to have a wonderful experience.

This place was amazing! The place was easy to find and very cute inside. They had an English menu; our waitress was amazing and spoke fluent English, and made great suggestions with the menu. I had the Spätzle with cheese and bacon and my boyfriend had the special, a lemon and rosemary Spätzle - both were large portions and very delicious. This was our first dinner in Hamburg and I would recommend it for anyone! I would recommend if you have a larger group to make a reservation ahead of time, as a good portion of the tables were reserved when we arrived. They also have Wifi for anyone traveling.

A very nice restaurant selling southern german food. The dishes are very tasteful! The athmosphere is nice and the staff is great! You have to order the food at the counter and then it will be brought to your table.

A great find! It's a small cozy place on a nice street. Really warm on a cold snowy night. They have 3 options for vegan spätzle which I was really craving. They recommended the "cheese" and onion one as the most traditional and I got it with smoked tofu as an option. It starts with a small side salad but then when the spätzle came out it was huge! It comes in a glass baking dish straight from the oven. The vegan "cheese" was really creamy. It was a bit of a struggle to finish it but it was so good! The staff were really friendly with perfect English. I'll definitely head back when I'm in Hamburg.

Tiny little restaurant, but delicious food -- especially the vegetarian spatzle and maultaschen (spinach and cheese dumplings)

When I paid (only cash accepted), and asked for the receipt, the man at the counter said, "Main hee receipt hoon (I am the receipt)" ---this is unprofessional -with zero accountability. I was shocked that a person operating a restaurant in Germany can be this rude and unprofessional; never came across such unprofessionalism and arrogance in any shops/restaurants in Germany (Everyone in Germany offers receipt). He then asked me to wait outside. Around 15 minutes later, my food arrived. But there was no receipt inside the food packet either. The restaurant is cramped. The environment just outside the shop is pathetic. That road is filled with drug peddlers and addicts. I would have never visited the shop if I was aware of such a behaviour inside the shop, and the unsafe environment just outside the shop. Not worth visiting.

Definitely not a pretty restaurant and service here is not anything to write home about, so the food here is the star! I wish Germany had more of these types of restaurant options, where you order at the counter and pick up your food when it's ready. Easy, quick and cheap! Love it!
