I've been taking vehicles to John for over 20 years but unfortunately I will never refer or take anything back there ever again.. he put an alarm in my utility truck I asked him if there was a battery back up for it in case it was stolen and they removed the actual car battery. He said yes he went ahead and charged me. He was going to order the battery and call me when I came in I called him a week later he said he still didn't order it. I bugged and bugged him for about a month and a half. I just gave up on it but then I took another truck to have work done about a year later to have an alarm, tinted windows, back up camera, etc. and he put an alarm in that didn't have the Locator so I said OK well let me pay for the upgrade now. Can you order the part and I'll come in when you get it I bugged him a bunch of times nothing ever happened. I guess that's what I get for pre-paying and trying to be a nice guy when all I wanted to do was help him out show him I appreciated his services but in the end, I don't think he appreciated me as a customer after 20 years plus. read more

John told me it'll be done half a day so I brought my car in, he advised that I needed a sound processor and he had none in stock but says it'll be delivered from his warehouse on the same day. Apparently it did not arrive as they had none left so John gave me a good discount. He also advised that my rear speakers I purchased won't fit and that I needed to buy a different model which saved me more since it's cheaper, he showed me on the internet which model I should get without haggling me to purchase from him Brought in my car again the following week and he did a really awesome job! I was looking for an apple car play stereo for my 2014 Honda Civic. As I did my search and read my reviews I noticed this place called Sound Scape in Downey, CA. When I called the first time and spoke with John he provided the most honest, genuine, customer service, and patience attitude towards me when it came to asking 100 questions on the product, pricing, and financial options he provided. Not once did he come off as a pushy sale guy and not once did he try to sell me things I did not need, which to me is a major plus because some places I went to see and called would try so hard to get me to upgrade things I didn't need to upgrade. I called a few more times before making my appointment with John and sound scape and each time he was just an overall, honest and genuine person and after my third time calling I just decided to go with him and make my appointment for this Saturday 2/22/2020. He gave me reassurance that the product had a one year warranty and he gave me reassurance about his life time warranty on his installation, that made me so happy. Keep in mind I know nothing about cars except for what I research and even then its a scary situation when it comes to people installing things into your car. I love that they took their time when it came to installations and I love that John took the time to really show me how to work with my product. These guys do very clean installs and highly rated which is why I chose them. I had them install 4 coaxial speakers, amp, and a sub which I brought in (fairly high quality brands). When I first listened to it, it sounded ok, but after listening to it more, I realized how distorted/muffled it sounded so I brought it back in for them to check. They couldn't find any issues with it. Was a bit disappointed how it sounded for the quality speakers that I brought in but I let it go. 3 years later after fiddling with the infotainment settings, I turned the bass all the way down and turned fade to the middle and it sounded 5x better. No more distorted/muffled sound. Now my sub is doing most of the bass work instead of my coaxials. Clean install but I knocked down a star for not getting it tuned correctly. read more

We went here after researching a lot of other car audio installation places and also due to all the great Yelp reviews. After speaking to many different audio installation places by both phone and by email, John really stood out for his excellent customer service and patience explaining everything. It's not that we didn't consider other audio installation places, as a couple were also really great on the phone, but I would say the majority of people we interacted with just didn't give us a good vibe despite their 4.5 star rating on Yelp. Many were unprofessional and some even seemed to be trying to make more money depending on how gullible you seemed. I can't be sure if that's the case, but some places quoted prices that were way above the cost of their products on Amazon. When we did get to John's shop, he was immediately personable and told us a price without any hard sell. In the end, we went with him to get a front and back dash cam, back up camera, and blind spot cameras installed, all for a very reasonable price and with a 10% discount from Yelp, so I think we got a great deal especially when comparing to other places and the type of products they used. My wife and I just picked up our car yesterday and everything works great. He said he'll also give us a 1 year warranty on the products we purchased with him and he has no problem giving us a lifetime warranty on his craftsmanship, so if there is something wrong with a connection, he'll look into it for free to fix any errors. I had an issue when I had to replace the van battery which reset the alarm back in 2021. John asked me to bring it in and he resolves the issue without charging me.
