I hired another business to do address the plumbing repair itself, and was referred to Collett Construction for the damage remediation, which included water damage around the kitchen sink, cabinets, and flooring. Cameron, Tony, and Robbie did an amazing job with the project and they were wonderful to have in my home while they were there. They were kind, courteous, and professional, and I was kept informed throughout the project about what to expect. Cameron was very transparent and honest up front by letting me know up what parts of the job might include unknown costs, which was helpful for budgeting and expectations (they also offered financing through GreenSky which was helpful, and something I've used on other emergency projects on my property). The work involved removing my kitchen cabinets, sink, and granite countertops to remediate the water damage behind (drywall, parts of the cabinet structure, etc). They did great work and helped improve a few things while they were in there that had been an unknown problem for years apparently (faulty wiring with a hacky and dangerous fix apparently from previous owners, updates to eroded copper piping, and upgrades to aging water shut off valves). They also addressed an issue with my kitchen ceiling from a leaky bathroom upstairs while they were there, which I was super grateful for. He explained things to me like a normal person, because hey, I'm not a plumber. Setting up scheduling to get the re-pipe done was smooth from talking to the Colletts. Moving on to the day the job started... cue Nick the Plumber. Nick became the person of my dog's adoration, who cares that I feed him. He was thorough in explaining the plans for each day, communicating changes as they arose, cleaned up each day, and ensure my dog wasn't ignored and got all the pets he needed. The permits were handled and the inspection was flawless. The only hiccup was when it came to the Sheetrock/drywall to close up my walls with another company. I expressed my concerns and issues I was having with the Collett team and they addressed the issues right away. Nick came out to check things, redo some work, and Cameron stopped in after the job was done. Having such a large job done on your home is costly and stressful from any company. However Collett Construction made sure they were there, communicated, and helped alleviate any stress when possible. I will definitely use them in the future for additional projects.

I called Pierce County Handyman for reinstalling 4 outside corner sections of baseboard and adjusting 2 transition pieces that had been installed improperly previously. They scheduled me for a visit about a week later so an estimate could be provided. Then a day before the scheduled visit, they asked to reschedule it due to a personal reason. I agreed to reschedule. They showed up on the second appointment and provided me with a service quote and a proposed service date. I got back to them 2 days later confirming the service and was informed the previously proposed date was no longer available. They then proposed a new date in the morning which I agreed to it. 1 day before their schedule service date, they call asking to reschedule from morning to afternoon, which I also agreed to. Then on the date of service, they texted me 2 hours before their scheduled start time to attempt to reschedule for a different date. I let them know that I had made plans for the work to be done that day and that if not possible, then to cancel the whole thing. They weren't able to come out and the service was canceled at my request. A total of 3 weeks and a half went by with multiple service days agreed to and subsequently rescheduled on Pierce County Handyman's request. In the end, no work was done...

Also, as women, I can't tell you how many times we've both had contractors talk down to us, and that was never the case with Matt. He was always friendly, professional, and respectful. And he even brought treats for our dog, who adores him! We hired Matt to help renovate part of our detached garage into a home gym. When he initially came out to see the space so he could give an accurate quote, he took about an hour so that we could talk through ideas and what he thought was feasible. His quote for the work was incredibly reasonable, and the quality of the work is stellar. He also kept the space clean as he worked, so we never needed to worry about there being random screws or sharp objects left around that we or our dog might step on. He removed a garage door, partially reframed one of the garage walls that was out of whack, installed several windows and a new door (and even picked them all up from Lowe's so that we didn't have to figure out how to fit them into our car!), and replaced the insulation in the space as needed. We opted to paint the space and install the vinyl plank flooring ourselves, but once we finished that up, Matt returned to install all of the trim, and even special ordered a piece of flooring for near the door, so that it matched. I would never do business here again. They are polite on the…read morephone and quick to reply by email. That is where the good experience ends. The job cost me about $7,000 extra in materials plus a large amount of extra labor, and the roof is still not right. I could have spent half as much going through Rainier Building Supply. 1. They sent short panels across the middle of the roof. That forced me to throw away the 6" eave flashing I already had purchased and buy all-new 8" material to cover those gaps. They kept saying they would make it right. They never sent replacement panels and never offered any compensation. 2. I committed to a $27,000 material package that was supposed to include everything needed based on the engineered drawings I provided. After replacing most of the flashing around the eves and ridges, I spent $34,000. The fascia still does not reach the eave trim, so we had to splice in scraps to cover the gaps. 3. Every standing seam panel has bad oil canning. The finish is already peeling only a few weeks after install. I do not recommend the AEP Design Span product I bought through them. 4. Their last flashing quote was $874. After I raised all of these problems they offered 10% off this order. I ordered the exact same material and quantity from Rainier Building Supply for $306.79. Communication was fine. The product offering, the follow-through, and the pricing were not. They never made it right. Avoid and go to RBS for better pricing.
