My hearing aid had broken while I was up in this area and I am SO glad I found this place to help me! The staff was kind and thorough and helped me get a quick appointment! When it came time to come in, Beverly Lew knew exactly what to do and could have easily overcharged me but did not! She was smart and helped me make sure I was getting full use of my warranty, which she didn't have to do and I deeply appreciate it. The final price was so reasonable and literally 1/4 of the cost compared to what some other places in the area I had called were going to charge me!! This really meant a lot to me and makes me know this is the place I will come back to if I ever have a problem again. I love finding businesses that operate on integrity. If I were in a super hero film; my power would be supersonic hearing. Everything sounds louder in my ears and I can hear conversations from what feels like a mile away: it is a blessing and a curse. Mostly a curse because the sense of sound has become aggravating at this point and offers too much stimulus (causing headaches!), I have misophonia and it requires me to wear ear plugs 24/7 when at home because I live in a loud area. Even stranger, is that I have tinnitus so you would think that the constant ear ringing would mute sound but no-siree! This ear plug wearing- habit (the putty swimmer's kind) means that I occasionally have teeny, tiny pieces of ear plugs that remain in my ear canals which then have to be removed using a traditional ear wax cleaning procedure. I try to do this once a year and being my previous doctor moved out of the area; I discovered Sound Advice and I am so glad I did! Dr. Lew has over thirty years of experience with all things ear-related with a Bachelor of Arts in Communicative Disorders and Master of Arts in Audiology treating everything from hearing loss and hearing aid dispensing to tinnitus to handling the precious hearing of famous rock stars and their in-ear monitors. When it comes to ears and hearing... Sound Advice has you covered! Dr. Lew is truly the master class in audiology. I booked an ear cleaning with Sound Advice (this procedure isn't covered by health insurance and will set you back approximately $150) and arrived to a warm, inviting lobby with reading materials galore and a fully stocked snack stand with coffee, tea, water and snacks. The receptionist Monique even offered candy/chocolates. The energy at Sound Advice is very calming and doesn't feel like the usual clinical vibe at typical doctor's offices. As odd as it sounds (ooh, that is fitting!); Sound Advice is actually an enjoyable medical office. I met with Dr. Lew and she briefly consulted with me allowing me to tell her the state of my ears and my super hearing power. Dr. Lew is the first to EVER dive deep into the psychology and the medical prognosis of why my hearing is so elevated, the misophonia, my tinnitus and the possible solutions including Sound Advice making personalized ear plus which won't leave pieces in my ears. Dr. Lew is not only incredibly qualified and intelligent; but she is a beautiful soul inside and out and speaks to you as a compassionate friend making you feel truly cared about. She is genuinely one of the top three doctors I have ever met in my life and I have been to hundreds due to my multiple health conditions and illnesses. I am absolutely enthralled by this woman! I am familiar with the procedure to clean my ears/remove ear plug pieces but it was an even gentler experience with Dr. Lew who asks you every step of the way if you are comfortable and explains what she is doing while continuing the conservation to keep you distracted. We were done before I knew it and Dr. Lew even pampered me with some amazing scented ear oil that will keep ear plugs sliding in and out easily. The experience was so wonderful that I didn't even want my appointment to end! I wanted to hang out at Sound Advice! If you want MY advice, Sound Advice is THE place to go for all things ears/hearing in the SFV area (sorry, I had to do it!). The office is the definition of welcoming and Dr. Lew is one of my new favorite people. I will be considering the personalized ear plugs and will absolutely return for all my super hearing and tinnitus needs and will shout it from the rooftops recommending her - well, maybe not shouting because that is loud, especially to me. read more

Riding motorcycles for years, I've long since tried to be cautious about hearing damage. Recently I became complacent, and sooner than later started to hear the dreaded tinnitus 24/7. I was in a full blown panic, but Dr. Lew's office was able to fit my in the same day I called. She preformed various, thorough tests and even though it was close to closing time I didn't feel rushed at all. She was very compassionate and knowledgeable and made me feel so much better than I was feeling after a weekend of doom-scrolling online. I'm still a bit distraught about living with this, but at least now I feel as though I can learn to cope with it. It was very reassuring and relieving to see that my actual hearing damage wasn't as bad as I thought it was too. I'm looking forward to continuing working with Dr. Lew in the future. My mom came in to see one of the audiologist here for her very first ear wash. I won't mention the Dr.'s name but you know who you are. We chose this location because of the reviews we read that she appeared to be kind to her elderly patients. That's not our experience. My mom was humiliated and berated when the Dr. loudly said in the waiting room in front of the other patients while talking to me that my mom's ear wax is one of the worst she's seen. She went on to complain how hard it was for her to irrigate and wash the wax off. Adding that my mom was careless with her Qtip usage, and laughing out loud in annoyance that she couldn't believe my mom could be so irresponsible. Since then, it's been hard to convince my mom to go see another ear doctor. I am sharing this in hopes that this specific audiologist Dr. recognizes and remembers that kindness goes a long way. Her staff is also pretty rude but that's another story. read more

Beverly Lew is very personable but she did tests I did not ask for nor need (I had a complete hearing exam by an audiologist with 25+ years exp 2 days prior) thus wasting my time and money. Perhaps not always, but it was the most chaotic, frustrating, and unprofessional office I have ever dealt with. The manager/receptionist, Sue was not present when I arrived for the appointment. After saying, "hello? " Beverly acknowledged me from an exam room. When she finally came out, she had no idea where my paperwork was. Likewise, when Sue called the night before to remind me to bring the completed forms I informed her that I emailed them back several days before. She replied, "You did??" She found them but it goes to the overall situation of their total office confusion. My appointment was for hearing aid selection, not for testing. Afterwards, they wanted to charge me $216! I paid part because Sue said she would speak with Beverly to apply the charge towards the hearing aids. That was fine although I wasn't happy that I had to come back again. I had also asked before coming if there would be a charge and I was told, "probably not. She rarely does." That should have been a clue not to go. Of course, Beverly would not apply the outrageous charge to new HAs and instead Sue blamed me for "not speaking up". I don't work there! I went elsewhere and not only spent my $$$ there I referred a friend who bought HAs as well. Sound Advice is not only completely unfair, they have horrible business practices. Greed cost them two patients. Hear this: don't go there!! read more

After months of contemplating looking for a new audiologist for my teenage son, I'm so happy that I made the leap to call Sound Advice. My initial conversation was with Troy who took the time to answer all of my questions over the phone (and I had a lot). He was professional, patient, and knowledgeable. And there's also Sue, who whenever I came into the office, was always kind, friendly, and helpful. I was interested in getting new behind the ear (BTE) hearing aids for my son especially after learning about the new and advanced technology features available. Dr. Lew was not only professional and very knowledgeable, but also kind, honest, transparent, and very patient. She never made our visits feel rushed and really took the time to make sure my son was getting the most out of the products offered. My son was able to try different hearing aid brands to see which was the best fit for him before even purchasing. To me, that's a great service that's not offered in many other places. Yes, there's a fee to do this trial but it's well worth it. I'm so glad I found Sound Advice and that it's local. There's free parking in the front and back so parking isn't an issue. Had a pair of OLD hearing aids that wouldn't pair with my iPhone X. Dr. Lew (I think that's right) worked diligently for two hours while I sat there watching her try and try and try to get them updated, but she had another patient, so I left them with her, and she said she'd continue trying. At 9:00 PM this evening I received a call from her office letting me know that she got them working! After several months of trials with 6 different devices, I decided on the Resound Linx Quattro. Yes, they were expensive, but I was more than willing to pay the high price for the UNSURPASSED quality of service. These hearing aids stream to 2 different televisions, which means I can spend some time watching the same program as my husband, and that relieves a lot of lonliness as I would spend more time alone in the bedroom watching television with closed captioning. Dr. Lew is a caring individual who goes above and beyond for her patients, even those who she just met. She was patient and attentive while we went into detail about our daughter's medical history. (It is annoying to me when medical professionals rush through.) She made connections between hearing health and organ health that was insightful and relevant to our own experiences. Even though I live in Juneau, Alaska, Dr. Lew has been helping me with hearing aids and the service has been fantastic. We went through every step of the process of replacing my old hearing aids and she was prompt, thorough, and friendly. About a year after buying my hearing aids, my dog ate them and I needed a quick replacement. Dr. Lew was on it, and made all the arrangement for the ear molds and new aids. Beverly Lew is Amazing! I am a young professional with mild to moderate hearing loss. I finally decided it was time to look for an answer to my hearing issues. I went to see Beverly Lew at Sound Advice and it has changed my life. I am no longer struggling to hear others in meetings. I used to hate it when colleagues would whisper or talk softly to me because I would miss key information and details.
