I was desperate to get some relief or I would not have gone to a random massage parlor. I figured that even a mediocre and over priced massage would be better than the shooting pain. So I used the yelp search functionality for places that would be able to get me in after seven pm. May had positive reviews and I called. How fortunate that she could get me in! Even though it was late Saturday evening she took her time with me. It was an excellent massage and experience. I felt that she really cared about my pain and getting me relief. She tried a few techniques that I have not had before including cupping. Beware, this will leave ugly marks on your skin for a week. She gave a few exercises to try to help loosen the tight muscles for after care. I did experience relief! I would definitely recommend May! She was concerned, dedicated and capable. It was reasonably priced as well. I've visited my chiropractor a few times since and he was surprised that as bad as I was, I said I had been worse over the weekend. He was able to readjust me fairly easily since May had worked me over. Thank you, May!!!

In the one hour I had with her I feel deeply relaxed, and she was able to apply the right pressure, and work on all of troublesome spots without me even directing her! She used hot stones and warm towels. It was the whole nine yards. I really appreciate her services. I am fortunate she is covered by insurance, but would pay out of pocket because she is worth it. But later in the Summer while traveling to Snoqualmie Falls in Washington state, and in conversation with guests who were from Tigard and had also had an odd experience at Joy massage: First my own, I visited May 2023 to treat myself for upcoming 70th birthday and during the course of my massage I asked my therapist where he trained? His answer was "he used to give his mom massages" which was strange"? He also mentioned his main job was construction and he was on call when they had overflow clients; and that he would soon be turning 67 years old! At the end of massage which was OK, he handed me a small sticky note with his personal cell and a call me anytime pronouncement? Weird, i am happily married for over 40 years which I made plain!. Tigard couple experience: in course of looking for the rest room, the wife opened a door that held a regular "sleeping or other" type of bed? How very odd? We mused as to what kind of "joy" they are selling here? Neither will ever know, as will never ever go back! Creepy!

I was panicking about finding someone to relieve my pain before embarking on a physically challenging vacation in a few days. Richelle was enormously knowledgeable. She was patient and focused as she methodically massaged to the heart of my discomfort. She clearly has an understanding of human anatomy and the interconnection of each muscle. I get so frustrated with the new-agey vibe that often accompanies massage clinics. It's just not my thing but if I want a massage I have to muscle through the hippy dippy stuff. Richelle was refreshingly clinical and she got right to work. 90 minutes later I could hardly feel the pain that brought me to Richelle in the first place. I highly recommend Richelle from Self Balance Massage. The clinic isn't exactly a "spa" experience but, in this case, you can't judge a book by its cover.
