My love letter to Soulfire: September 2024 I walked down the stairs into the Soulfire studio in Bethesda for the first time. I was encouraged by my husband to "try" it after he did one class and said I was going to "love" it. Given my pure panic about any type of "group fitness" classes, I was extremely apprehensive, anxious, nervous, freaked out. OH also I had never done a yoga class in my entire life, so really was just going rogue...After just trying one class, I could feel there was something special here. Its dark, its hot, its loud, there are no mirrors, and most importantly there is NO judgement. You come as you are and leave feeling just a little (or lot) bit lighter and more aligned. I decided I'd give it a whirl for a second time, which turned into a third time, and now I call this place my second home in Bethesda. You can come as often as you want, and each time will have the rare opportunity to experience something new and hopefully along the way find the most authentic pieces of yourself. On my mat I've found a forever safe space. I've laughed, I've cried, I've yelled, I've danced my ass off, I've brought friends, I've brought co-workers and have met some of the most wonderful humans in the world. If you are willing to just put your leggings on and get in the car and go, you won't regret it... I promise. Thank you SFC for becoming my fam and helping me find myself, this note will never do you the full loving justice you deserve but I hope someone reads this and gives it a whirl. read more
