I've taken Soul Cycle courses long enough to differentiate the 'good instructors' from the 'less interesting ones'. I can legitimately say that Mike Press has the greatest class of all Soul Cycle NYC. If you are looking for a course that will challenge your body and mind to surpass your limitations, imposed by your every day fears, pain, etc. this is the class to help you. In many ways, this class helps you overcome your hardships in life, not just in working out. Mike will lead your spirit towards the strongest point of progression, so that you can overcome difficulties you may not necessarily consider possible before. The secret to a good soul cycle instructor is their ability to help you improve, your soul journey. While they may sound cliche, Mike accomplishes this in spades. read more

Really nice location, with convenient parking and an incredibly friendly/helpful staff. I've taken a few classes in Rye Brook and am still feeling out the instructors to find one that suits my workout needs. Bari was awesome; cool, earthy, down-to-earth, fun, positive vibe. Great playlist too. Unfortunately, I didn't feel pushed enough. Ashley's class was high intensity/athletic, which is more up my alley. It was snowing and she definitely took her "lack of wanting to be there" out on the class, which I didn't mind in the slightest.... It was more of a challenging ride and that's what I was looking for. She was a great instructor and in excellent shape. Athletic ride that pushes your boundaries a bit. I highly suggest the RB soulcycle Nicky's class is by far the best!!! read more

I live in White Plains and for the past year or so, I have gone to classes at all three Westchester SoulCycle studios. This one is by far my favorite. The location can't be beat - you have everything you need in the Rye Ridge plaza (I've even popped in for a quick pre-Soul manicure in the same plaza). Plus, free and abundant parking anywhere in Westchester is my jam, so I love Rye Brook for this reason. The studio is a little awkwardly cramped but it's not really a huge deal. It's also noticeably cooler than the Scarsdale location, and I appreciate that because I sweat a LOT in SoulCycle. The staff is so friendly and helpful for anything you need. The instructors are great - I come for the theme rides and they always have fun ones at different times to accommodate all schedules. SoulCycle is definitely an expensive addiction, but I love nothing more than how I feel after 45 minutes in that studio, so to me, it's worth it. Those endorphins are priceless. read more

3.5 stars, rounded up because I MUST be missing something... I spin religiously at my gym - to the tune of at least 50 miles a week - and, I will say, I am spoiled with some really great instructors which may impact my perception. I decided to give Soul Cycle a shot a few weeks ago for the first time at the Scarsdale location. Overall, it was an okay experience. The instructor there was nice, welcoming and helpful with form correction. I tried Rye Brook twice this past week - Sunday and Monday - and will say this location has a layout that is definitely a bit easier to handle. But I'm still trying to understand all the hype, to be honest with you... I took Martha's class on Sunday morning, which was a good one. She's a total badass and the spazzy sprints standing up while trying to perform choreography on the bike wasn't too plentiful. I'd say she's a friendly instructor for newbies. Monday morning I got a bike in Conor's class. He is the most popular instructor in all of Westchester/CT and maybe NYC, too. This guy is INTENSE. I felt like we were in miliarty bootcamp and Conor was the sergeant. I was pushed harder than maybe ever which was awesome but I was also slightly terrified the whole time (placing a rookie in the sidebar's front row wasn't the best idea of the staff and didn't help.) The great part about this class was that it was the first one where I didn't struggle with the pushup's, tapback's, etc. because they weren't done in a crazy jerky, accelerated way. We also used a ton of resistance which I love, given I am used to spin classes that train me for the outside. Because this is such a great workout, I'll likely try a few more classes at Soul Cycle (I might even get the balls to go back to Conor at 6am!), but I still haven't felt the community, inspiration, etc. that everyone has talked about. Maybe this will change...who knows...and I'll be a loyalist for life all of a sudden. But I will say, with only a minuscule locker room and, like, two showers (if that), I won't be back here for weekday morning classes too often. read more

I've been going to this location for two years and have been relatively happy with my experience until I took a recent class with Francesca. As someone who has taken 75+ SoulCycle classes, I thought I had seen it all until I took this class. The music was way too loud-- every single person in the class was either holding his or her ears or wearing ear plugs. When I asked the front desk staff to turn the music down, they said no. The room was 80+ degrees. Francesca did not play one song with lyrics and honestly, the songs she did play sounded like church music with beat drops. The class started late and ended on time so I didn't even get my money's worth. Francesca's choreography was not good and 90% of the class was confused/couldn't keep up. This experience was a disaster. For the past few months, I've felt that all of the good instructors are no longer teaching at the Rye Brook studio and this only confirmed that. read more

I came here for the first time last week. My first SoulCycle class ever and my truly my first real spin class. Only other time I have done spin was several years ago at NYSC with no clip in shoes. Upon arriving and telling the front desk it was my first time, they were immediately very helpful and informative. The girl (whose name unfortunately I do not know) showed me the lockers and came with me to help me set up the bike. A friend of mine came to another SC location for her first time and they were not nearly as helpful to her. I took Alejandra's class. Upon the first song playing, one I love and find so energetic, I knew it was going to be good. Needless to say I went to two more classes that week and am going to two this week. I think I am hooked! I have gone to this location and Greenwich and tried a new instructor each time now. I find the classes really energetic and fun. The time passes by so quickly for me and I am getting a great workout. One song involves weights - 2lb weights found on each side of the bike. I must admit I first laughed to myself thinking, 2 lb weights? Really? This is going to do nothing. At least 1/2 to 3/4 of the class (myself included) do not make it through an entire song doing the full workouts with the 2lb weights. It's harder than you think! Classes are booked online and some book up FAST once the schedule opens up each week. I have yet to be able to take a couple of instructors because their classes are never open. There is a waitlist option. My one gripe is that the bikes are pretty close together, though perhaps this is the norm for spinning. Again, I am not an avid spinner. I have yet to experience any hygiene issues thankfully. At this location, there's only two showers. Not sure how this is during rush hour/busy times such as early morning. It could be a problem if you needed to shower there before work. read more

Absolutely obsessed with this place. If you know soulcycle, you know you're going to get an amazing workout that makes you think you're not actually working out. The Ryebrook studio is particularly great because it has a huge parking lot. Also, because the best Westchester instructor, Anthony M, teaches there quite a lot. You have to try it! read more

I absolutely love this place. First of all, the staff is very welcoming and friendly every single time I go in. The place is super clean and manages to smell amazing despite everyone coming out drenched from the classes. Yes it's expensive, but the workout is amazing and effective! I've already lost 8 pounds since starting in January! The music is loud and the instructors really try to engage everyone to work out to their best ability. I recommend Alejandra. She's amazing and always has energy that keeps the class going and fun. read more

To be clear, I'm giving two stars for this particular location based on my experience there. Overall I love soul cycle, and I frequent studios in the city because there are multiple locations near my office. Admittedly I've only ever been to this location once, but I do feel like Yelp's "meh I've experienced better" description for two stars matches perfectly. The studio is smaller than the ones I'm used to in the city, and the layout isn't great - there's not one central locker room, rather, a big hallway with lockers that is hard to navigate around and then two separate shower rooms and 2 bathrooms I think. The actual shower rooms are nice and spacious but I don't love not having one centralized locker room. Also, they still (as of 8/19) have the old bikes here which threw me off because I got used to the new ones in the city. Also? I felt water dripping on me during class - and not when the instructor shook her water bottle out at us - like, I think condensation was dripping on me from the ceiling vents or something. And finally I just didn't love the instructor - I won't call her out by name here because this is largely subjective personal preference - but she just kept saying how certain people were doing so good they should be in the front row and it made me, who was in the front row not because I think I'm hot stuff but because I don't like staring at someone's butt when I spin, feel like I sucked because the message I got from her was like the front row is reserved for rock stars and I've never gotten that vibe in any of my other NYC classes. Anyway, it was mostly a standard soul class and a great workout, but I don't love this particular location. Maybe I'll try it again once they get the new bikes and I'll try a different instructor. read more

Came here for the first time and had a wonderful workout! Claire was great and played the best music as well as coached our bodies and minds along the way. I am a beginner at cycling, and this class was very challenging, but I was able to go at my own pace. The atmosphere is great because you can really focus on the workout and just think of you and the music. Only downer is that the studio is really small, which I think is how all soul cycles are. But, other than that, I will definitely be back and try some different instructors as well! read more

This morning I had my 4th , 6am class with Nick B. I am by no means athletic and I do this because I know that I need to take care of myself. With that said, I must applaud Nick B. He greats every one with a warm smile, he's upbeat and motivated. He gets off his bike to guide those of us who need a lil extra attention and most of all he makes every one feel a part of the session . this class wasn't all that. I really don't know why people are paying so much money to attend these classes, perhaps they haven't experienced better for less $! the locker rooms were soooo tiny, it felt like everyone was on top of each other. not to mention there were no places to sit in the locker room. the class was super crowded in a tiny room. the spinning instructor had the most space, wtf? the music wasn't that great, though I did go to rave night. I had trouble getting out of my shoes to stretch and so the girl next to me was helping and the instructor said "no talking." its so ridiculous. don't waste your money on this bullshit. read more
