If you're looking for nigiri, sashimi or rolls they do not have a great selection of sushi and definitely not the freshest sushi.

We were thrilled, my mom especially, to find out that there was a Sydney location as well. Easy to spot right off of George Street, PL is small but they get tables turned over really quickly. My sister and I shared the classic beef pepper rice, with upsized meat and an egg added on. It was wonderful. We tried it with the various sauces offered on the table, as well as tons of spicy chili flakes. My favorite personally was the sweet sauce, but there was no going wrong with any of it. Be warned though, it's called pepper lunch for a reason--TONS of black pepper on everything! A huge plus in my book, but I can see how that wouldn't be for everyone. My mom and aunt shared the wild wagyu steak, which came with an assortment of veggies on the hot plate with the steak and a side of white rice. They said the steak was fantastic, and my aunt liked that it was into slices so that she could cook the strips a little bit more on the hot plate, as she likes her steak more well done than my mom does. Neither of them cared much for the cheesy potato that came with, but loved everything else. Service was really great here. My aunt is a bit... finicky. She requested long after she paid and we finished eating, that the server print the receipt for her--to be clear, this is a fast casual place where you order first and then seat yourself and wait for your food. The hostess/cashier was very patient in helping us find our order number and providing the receipt for us, and all of the other waitstaff was great as well. Definitely recommend if you're in the area looking for a delicious and quick meal that's reasonably priced, and it sits especially well on a chilly winter night.

There was 6-7 people cooking on Friday night, one people at each station. Thus the food come out very quickly! We learn the hard lesson by making a mistake of ordering everting at once. Sure enough all the 8 dishes were delivered within 20 minutes.... make sure to place your order one to two dishes at a time. Food was good. Yakitori juicy, Hotate was fresh, seaweed salad, grilled mackerel, all dishes we ordered were pretty good. Old fashioned fries are a good deal (for Aussie price). Plenty of sake choices. You can choose from 100ml or 300ml so you can taste a little first, to see which one you like. I'll come back here again.

The ipad ordering system is well designed with detailed descriptions and wonderful photos. I did have a higher expectation with the food after reading all these 4/5 star reviews but nothing we ordered was really memorable. Maybe I did not order the right things? Good as a place to meet up with friends and have a drink but if you are looking for higher quality of Japanese fare, you might need to go somewhere. Just be careful the portion is tapas style and your bills can quickly added up if you want to have a full meal here.
