Stromboli
Steven B.

We ate here twice. The first time we had the large Fatboy pizza. It was enough for two full meals for my wife and me! I judge a pizza by the crust, and this crust was so good I enjoyed it all to the end. The second visit we ordered the Stromboli. For $13 I could not believe the size! It is huge! My wife and I split it and were amply full! The crust was really thin and crispy! The staff are nice. Local Ocracoke residents eat here! This is a must stop for your Ocracoke visit!

Big Daddy specialty

Got the Green Head and the Big Daddy specialty pizzas. Each pizza was a solid island pie that exceeded expectations. Walk up pickup window with social distance markings was easy, and smooth. There's nothing about this meal I would have changed and although the Green Head was the crowd favorite (better than similar pizzas from Mellow Mushroom), all was delicious and enjoyed thoroughly.

OMG is the food delicious! I had my heart set on trying gnocchi carbonara. Got to the place to early. So I biked around for an hour. Waiting was so worth it. The food,Gnocchi Carbonara, was heavenly and so was the service

Amazing pizza and friendly staff! We got a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had.

Inside the tables have a tablecloth, kinda orange-red with a design. It's different, cool. Even though the place looks busy you are seated quickly. THE STAFF: The night we went, there was this guy & girl serving. Gosh they were quick! Holy moly! I was so impressed! FOOD: We got the special soup, curry sweet potato bisque. Oh man! I'm still salivating over that! It's enough to share!

We came early for apps and drinks and were considering if we wanted to stay for our dinner meal too since the menu looked fantastic (and the ragu was eyeing me down!). It was surprisingly incredibly quiet with only a few of the porch tables taken, so we didn't feel like we were holding anyone up since it was quiet and early. While we were deciding on dinner, the waitress approached us and asked if we made our minds up. When saying we needed a minute but wanted to start with rolls and cocktails, she said, "well can I take your menus then? Or one?" Which felt odd given there weren't many people there at all and we still wanted to decide what apps a dinner to order. Otherwise, she hadn't checked back on us for another 30 minutes after ordering drinks and bread to start, so feeling like a nuisance, and we decided not to get dinner here anymore and we'd go elsewhere. Then, trying to wave the waitress down felt impossible almost as though she was avoiding our table, we had to ask another server for her to grab our check. Otherwise, the outside porch was perfect and shady with fans and airflow for a hot summer day. Very homey! The house made bread was absolutely fantastic. The French 75 was heavy handed on the gin, which can be both good and bad depending how you look at it! Worth the money for us!

During our visit, we started with the fried green tomatoes topped with shrimp remoulade--a highlight right away. The tomatoes were crisp with just the right tang, and the remoulade added a rich, flavorful seafood kick that tied everything together nicely. For the main course, the parmesan crusted flounder was excellent: delicately cooked, lightly crisp on the outside, and tender and flaky inside, with a savory crust that didn't overpower the fish. Dessert was the flourless chocolate torte, which delivered a dense, rich chocolate finish without being overly sweet--an ideal way to close the meal. Beyond the food, the restaurant also impresses with its extensive and interesting wine list, offering plenty of thoughtful pairings for seafood and richer dishes alike. The innovative cocktails are another strong point, with creative combinations that feel carefully crafted rather than gimmicky. Service was friendly and attentive, and the pacing of the meal felt relaxed in a way that matches the island setting. The restaurant operates seasonally and typically closes for the winter off-season, which makes it feel like a bit of a special opportunity when it's open. I highly recommend Dajio Restaurant. The meal was excellent. I had the blackened ahi on a salad. It was fresh and perfectly cooked. There's a decent but minimal selection of wines by the glass, and I went with a Sauvignon Blanc that paired perfectly. Most of the wines have good ratings by the major wine reviewers. Service was outstanding. The server had that classic beach-town ease (local or seasonal) but really knew the menu and did a great job. At one point, a woman who appeared to be management stopped by the table to check in. When she asked how things were, my answer was simple: "Incredible." The atmosphere is exactly right, relaxed but still polished, with just the right amount of energy without feeling crowded or chaotic. That balance is harder to get right than people think, and they've nailed it. I don't hand out compliments lightly, but this place delivers. Simple, fresh food, executed properly. No gimmicks, no shortcuts. This is absolutely a place you should try if you're in Ocracoke. I'll be back.

We ordered a variety of dishes: the cold Italian sub, spicy chicken wings, Greek salad with blackened shrimp, blackened fresh fish sandwich, and blackened shrimp dinner. COLD ITALIAN SUB The cold Italian sub came with chips and was flavorful and satisfying. Wish it had more seasoning and spice, but it was good nonetheless. SPICY CHICKEN WINGS The spicy chicken wings had a nice kick, but weren't overwhelming. Would've been great if they were more flavorful, but they were fried nicely. GREEK SALAD The Greek salad with blackened shrimp was fresh, with perfectly seasoned shrimp that added a great smoky depth. All the ingredients were fresh and crunchy. Feta wasn't overwhelming, just perfect. FRESH FISH SANDWICH The blackened fresh fish sandwich, also served with chips, was a highlight with its flaky, well-seasoned fish. SHRIMP DINNER The blackened shrimp dinner, which came with garlic bread and cocktail sauce, was another standout--generous portions and bursting with flavor. The garlic bread was delish and went with the shrimp, which was cooked to perfection. Super tender and juicy. Service was fast and friendly, making the experience even better. Overall, Jason's delivered on both taste and efficiency, and it's a spot I'd happily return to for a quick and delicious seafood fix!

It has a mom and pop feel, where you'll likely seat yourself when it's slow, all prices are somewhat reasonable, seafood was obviously more expensive but I'd say it was pushing the reasonable side of things. I had the fried shrimp with green beans and white Mac and cheese. Shrimp was solid, and high quality. The green beans were good and thin. The Mac and cheese was fine but came out cold, which was confusing considering it was so busy, I don't know why food would be in the window for long periods. For the price and location everything was solid, but not necessarily great, I wouldn't return if there were other open options. Thought I did not have I hear the "Uncle Bunkle" was fantastic.
