Little did I know that I was going to come out of my appointment with my hair done to perfection, but even better was meeting Robin and Dee! I'll start with my hair since that is the main focus of finding a salon! Robin took time to talk about what I was looking for, she asked questions to understand my hair care routine, styles etc. She listened and gave her feedback. My color was matched perfectly, and although the cut was just a trim with some slight layers, it was a noticeable difference. Needless to say I love it and Robin is amazing! Then there is the studio and these awesome women! I walked in to the warmest welcome and an instant energy that was inviting. I felt like I had known Robin and Dee for years....we talked the entire appointment! The studio is in a building of salon suites, so there are many rooms of various businesses. Being in their suite, laughing and talking, it really felt more like I was hanging out with some girlfriends rather than a hair appointment! Needless to say, I give all the stars to Element Salon!

The nail technician informed me that she had an appointment but could thread my brows immediately. I could then return at 12:30 pm for my nail services. I arrived at 12:30 pm and stood at the front desk while the technician assisted a customer on the phone for about five minutes. After she hung up, she asked me to choose a color, which took only five seconds. I went to a chair and waited for another ten minutes while she chatted with a colleague about non work related topics, showing each other pictures on their phones. I was genuinely confused. At one point, I convinced myself that she wasn't going to do my nails and that I might be waiting on another technician. At 12:47 pm, she called me over and brought the empty soak bowls to my chair. From 12:47 pm to 1:00 pm, she went to the front desk and then disappeared. At 1:01 pm, I got up and left. I don't understand why I was treated this way. You're not doing me a favor by servicing me. She could have simply said, "Hey, we're booked today, but you can schedule an appointment for another day." That would have been fine. However, having me come in and almost ignore me and act like you're annoyed that I'm there is insane. First off - I'm not sure if this a legitimate business. I only say that because when I dialed the…read morenumber, the person who answered the phone said, "Hello ma'am." And I had to ask whether I'd called Susy's Braiding. The only web presence I can find is a Facebook page that lists an address of "1651 Powder Springs rd sw suit 5 Powder Springs, Georgia 30127." I was super confused because 1651 Powder Springs Road is in Marietta, not Powder Springs. When I asked where she was located she said she was on Powder Springs Rd - across from Lil Caesar's. I knew she couldn't be in Horseshoe Bend Plaza (which is the only plaza 'sort of' across Powder Springs Rd), so I asked if she meant she was on the same side of the street in the plaza next door to Lil Caesar's she said yes. Okay. So all of that still didn't deter me - but when I asked how much she charged for a takedown - she asked me how my hair was braided. I told her cornrows - with no extensions added and crochet braids in back half only. She said THIRTY!!!! Thirty dollars to cut the crochet braids out and unbraid my existing hair!!! So I'm guessing it would have been $60 if my full head was crocheted. I didn't haggle - because I don't haggle with people over their prices - but I also don't appreciate when business owners try to cheat me. This isn't my first time at the rodeo - most skilled braiders charge $15 to takedown this type of style - and that's sometimes $15 for a full head or half head - but never $30 for half my head. The process takes about 15 - 20 minutes and it's the type of thing a lot of women can do themselves, but you run the risk of cutting your own hair when you start the takedown, so I typically leave it to the professionals. As much as I hate to give a small business owner a 1 star rating - this person does not seem to be a caring, skilled or trustworthy business person.
