I've been on a mission to find an authentic Thai place in Orlando, hopefully close to the taste that I'm accustomed to back in LA. That being said, my review can be biased as I'm holding it to the LA standard. We chose Soong Thai as it seemed really promising based on all the reviews and stunning stars on Yelp. We went in for lunch today and ordered our fav: Tom Yum soup, Larb Salad and Rad Nah. The dining area was clean and nicely decorated. The food came out fast and elegantly presented, and the service was attentive. Tom Yum soup was ok. We did not taste or see any lemongrass and galanga. Most importantly, the signature ingredient, mushroom, was missing. For us this soup was probably the most off. Chicken Larb was too sweet for us. The meat was chopped, so it did not absorb nearly as much as ground meat would for the citric, spicy and salty flavor as I remembered. Our last dish was my all time favorite Thai dish, Rad Nah. At its best it was mediocre for me. The heavy brown sauce tasted fine, but the rice noodles were soggy and lacked the char flavor from pan frying, the char flavor that really highlights what Rad Nah is from other Thai noodle dishes. So for us it was an interesting experience to try out a new place in Orlando. In my book it was just an okay, probably a 3.5 if I had to weight in for the food taste and authenticity. read more

If you're looking for authentic Thai food then this is the spot! Their Thai tea is so delicious and refreshing! I Iike that they don't hold back when you ask for spicy! Their Thai hot is definitely pure heat! The best part is that the spicy heat doesn't take away from the other flavors blended in. You can still taste the curry and coconut milk flavor. I came in one evening well before closing time to order a small dish for takeout and was not welcomed by staff at all. It was terrible service on their part and I will never eat there again. They were extremely rude and barely wanted to take my order. The food is definitely meh anyway. If this is the "best" Thai place in Orlando, than that speaks volumes to the quality of Thai food in this city. Over all TERRIBLE service and mediocre food. One of my favorite Thai places in Orlando! It's a small place, very cozy and the staff is always very friendly and quick. The walls are decorated with wood and I love the lighting and feel. The food here is just fantastic, never had anything that wasn't above my expectations. Also, they make things spicy and flavorful. Now, the presentation here is just out of this world. Gorgeous plating and they always place flowers and it just makes the experience so lovely. Their soup is very very good, and their curry is perfection. Great noodles, rice, drinks. We moved out of state and it's been over 8 years since we've had the opportunity to eat here again. To our surprise the restaurant was still around after all these years. Obviously we were excited to eat at our once favorite Thai place. Yes, I did say once our favorite place. unfortunately it's not quite the same, which is understandable after all these years. It's exactly the same inside after all these years, so it brought back a lot of good memories we had of Florida. The food was not terrible. We enjoyed the chicken satay, they bring out a mini cauldron on fire to cook your chicken to add a more flame broil flavor if you want. Although the waitress don't tell you what the fire is for, so we weren't sure if we should be placing our chicken on there or not. I heard another customer ask the waitress what that was when she brought one to there table. They do not offer any sticky Thai rice, which was very disappointing. They weren't that busy inside, but they seemed to be busy with takeouts. And they seemed to be focusing on they're takeout customers rather than the inside seating customers. I'm glad they're still around, but I don't think we will be coming back here the next time we visit Florida again. read more

I'm getting tired of restaurants that advertise false hours. This restaurant is supposed to be open until 3pm. I got there at 2:50pm and they were closed with people inside still eating. 3 pm means you serve until 3 not close the doors and go home for the day at 3. never going back, complete waste of time. read more

Walking into the restaurant for lunch it was filled to the brim with the thai culture! The staff was wearing traditional outfits and the decor had so much beauty behind it while still managing a level of sophistication. Me and my date were greeted and seated right away. There were small vases with real roses which was a pleasant surprise. The first thing we ordered was the Thai tea. The drinks were more on the sweeter side and were presented with a real orchid flower on the brim of the glass. Their attention to detail didn't go unnoticed! With our lunch, we were also given eggrolls with sweet and sour sauce to dip and a house soup with a simple, yet palate-cleansing broth. We ordered pad thai and grouper with panaag curry. The pad thai was delicious but hoped for a lime wedge to be included. Nothing major, but would be a great addition for a citrus kick. I liked that the pad thai had the bean sprouts on the side, for the option of adding it into the noodles. The panaag curry dish I had asked for medium heat. I can eat food with mid hot spice. The medium spice was more mild in my taste, and wouldn't mind a bit hotter, incase anyone wants to gauge their spice level with mine. Both tasted great and was on fun decorative plates (in shapes of a fish and a duck!). Of course I want to add that there was orchids on the dishes too haha. I love Soong Thai, I have been coming for years how ever this was the first time I got sick off of it. However the food was delicious. Coming from the gym I ordered my food to go: Tom Kha Chicken, spring roll, chicken pad Thai and chicken green curry. The young lady that took my order was very nice and quoted a 20 minute wait time which was perfect as that's how long it would take to drive over. Some of my favorites are the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Tom Kha Ka (sp) soup, they make an excellent one! I love their crab Rangoon because they add curry inside and it's oh so yummy. I've had their snapper and eggplant dish (it's deep fried and am not fond of deep fried stuff) but the sauce was amazing. Wow!! I'm visiting the area and was craving Thai food before I head back to Miami where everything is a long drive away (traffic). Sadly, Soong Thai was closed on Sunday and the other Thai places didn't look as good. I'm so happy I waited for Soong Thai. I got the Amazing eggplant (lunch) that comes with veggie egg roll (spring) and rice. I also ordered a small veggie soup. It came out to $15 total. I was just expecting the veggie soup to be a clear broth with tofu and mushrooms but I was very happy to see many veggies in there. The flavor was good but definitely add some crystal/tobasco and you got yourself something. Now... (drum roll) the Amazing eggplant truly was amazing. It was like a mixture of peanut sauce and a little creamy red curry. I don't think I ever smacked my lips so much in my life. Even though I got the lunch, I could only eat 1/2 of the eggplant and rice. I can eat a lot, especially since I was starving, but I've been conquered. After pushing my last bite, I rolled onto the floor from my chair and spread out bald eagle. I will be placing another order before I leave tomorrow. read more

This place is located across from the West Oaks Mall, it's a small restaurant but it feels like you're at someone's home and the waitresses are really nice and sweet. They were attentive and whatever requests we had they were able to do and did it with no hesitation. Food wise, I'm so glad I came with my family because I really wanted to try everything. Yes I may have came here super hungry, but going with a group is always better :) So here's what we ordered: -Panang chicken: BOMB DOT COM! Veggies were cooked perfectly and still had a crunch to them and the broth is what sold me. Can't describe but if you know you love curry then get this! -Beef fried rice & Tofu fried rice: YES. Just do it! -Chu Shee Snapper: Perfectly fried whole fish, you can ask with the fish bones in or not. We also asked for the sauce to be on the side rather than drenched on the fish. The sauce, the freaking sauce. -Amazing eggplant: AMAZING is right! Perfectly fried and crispy with the yummiest peanut sauce -Grouper (I forget the name, but it was on the special menu): something about the curry sauce was so addicting! -Crispy Duck: Ok, I'm not a huge fan of duck but this literally tasted like chicken. I have experienced such disappointment with the cuisine since moving here to central Florida, but this was a very pleasant surprise! Very delicious and satisfying. . . This is an excellent Thai restaurant. It's always busy at lunch, and yet the servers are always super efficient and kind, and the food is served promptly. They offer a long list of lunch specials, including many Chinese items for those who don't like it spicy. And their extensive ala carte menu is filled with great stuff. Everything I've ever had here has been excellent, but my favorite is the shrimp in red curry. Lunch comes with a cup of soup that is a bit like wonton sup, but with super fresh ingredients added at the last minute, and it is slightly different every time. Subtle but delicious. It's probably my favorite of the 4-5 Thai restaurants I have been to in the Orlando and surrounding area. I have brought guests here who also love it. Went to Soong Thai for a very late dinner with kids and mother-in-law. (My spouse was working over the weekend.) Tired of mediocre Thai food, we went out of our way to try a different establishment. We were so glad we did! As soon as we walked in, I overheard two families speaking Thai. Traditional statues adorned the entrance as well as nice wood paneling. Everything you'd want in a traditional family Thai restaurant! Usually ordering Thai with three children can be challenging. Mild flavored curries? No problem. Phat See Ew not too sweet? Ok. We wanted something with chicken and Thai basil, savory -- they had a suggestion that was delicious. In short, we had an easy time ordering and were pleased with our entrees. Singha in a frosted mug was also a nice touch. The Thai spring rolls (pork?) were "two thumbs up". All the food was ("aroy"/ delicious)! PS., We did not have time to try their desserts. Stumbled on this place for Valentine's Day lunch. The decorations were lavish, slightly ironic, but mostly adorable with a large chunk of class. The lunch menu was diverse. I got the yellow tail full fish snapper with red curry on a bed of vegetable and Egg rolls and I absolutely loved them. I tried their Thai tea, it was out of a bottle, it's the first time I ever try Thai tea, it was sweet but I liked it. My friend Tried their pad se-ew and said that they probably like Thai food after today. lol I am rating the restaurant based on service and food and in my one visit I got a 5 star on both. read more

This place was phenomenal. The dishes we had were all very good. Great flavors and the perfect amount of spices. The presentation of the food was pleasing to the eyes. We had the following: - Pad Se-ew with chicken, sauteed with rice noodles, carrots, and broccoli - pretty good; although it was cooked slightly different than I've had, it was still a good dish - Chicken fried rice, I was in the mood for fried rice, and it satisfied my craving - Pad thai (hot) with chicken; this was very good, I would order it medium spice next time. - Seafood green curry - this was exceptional, perfectly cooked with the right amount of spices. - Crispy duck - lightly deep fried boneless duck, topped with soong thai brown sauce, served on a bedded of steamed mixed vegetables. - I loved the crispiness of the duck and it was still moist. I don't know if I like it with the sauce, because I really love the simplicity of the flavor of the crispy duck by itself. - Nam Sod (steamed ground pork mixed with lime juice, onion, bell peppers, ginger, and peanuts on a bedded of iceberg lettuce) This was my first time having this appetizer, it was very good, the lime juice made it slightly tart which blended well with the other ingredients. It was delicious. The staff were all very courteous and friendly, with a great sense of humor. Although the dining area was not very large, and it was packed, it was worth the 30 minute wait. We come to this place all the time. We had a take out order yesterday and it still delivers great food. The flavor is always outstanding and the service is great as well. The crab Rangoon has curry in it and it's fantastic. Pad Thai is probably the best around in the Orlando area. It is located in a strip mall across from the a mall. Do not worry about the location. The food is worth it. The Volcano Chicken is an amazing find on this menu. Sauce is full of flavor and spicy it is something unique and a must have. We will return. read more
