We ran into an issue after booking through a third-party site, but they stepped in right away and took care of everything with kindness and professionalism. Rebecca especially went above and beyond--she fixed our 3rd party wrong booking via complementary upgrade- T H A N K Y O U! Traveling with our kids, we truly appreciated how smooth and stress-free they made everything. The service was outstanding, the views were beautiful, and the entire experience felt special because of them. We're so grateful--thank you again! We'll definitely be back. And the Filipino breakfast was such a great touch--an awesome reset from all the fish, chips, and chowder!

A Peaceful Getaway with Stunning Views…read more We stayed at The Inn at the Tides in Bodega Bay while celebrating a birthday trip from the San Jose region in mid-January, and we could not have asked for better weather. It was sunny every day with temperatures in the mid-60s, which made Bodega Bay feel like a perfect winter escape. The week before it had been raining like crazy and some areas had been flooded. We really lucked out! The hotel is located on a hill, not really next to the water, but because it is situated on the hill, it has great views. Our 2nd story room on the top of the hill was spacious, quiet, and extremely comfortable. The high vaulted ceiling with a skylight made it feel open and airy, and the layout included a couch and small table with chairs, which was perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine in the evening. We also appreciated having a coffee pot and small refrigerator in the room. The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. We saw deer grazing near the bushes and trees, which added to the peaceful coastal feel. The views are excellent, especially from the second-floor units, overlooking Bodega Bay on one side and rolling grassy hills with cows on the other. The hotel is very quiet and restful. Housekeeping was excellent (thank you Grace), and the front desk staff, Evelyn and Tyler, were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. The wellness center is really nice with a large T-shaped pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, workout room, and shaded tables for sitting, eating, or enjoying a drink. Parking is plentiful with some covered spots, plus the hotel is right next to a 76 gas station, which is very convenient for that long drive home. The hotel restaurant is directly across the street on the water and has great views of the bay. Seals, birds and an occasional fishing boat can be seen. There is another restaurant closer to the hotel rooms but it was closed during our stay. A couple of minor wishes: the workout room could use a large mirror, a few more weights, and maybe even a Concept2 rowing machine (hint, hint). And the TV in our room could also be a bit larger (I know, were not their to watch TV, but we love HGTV!). Lastly, if you do not want to deal with stairs, request a ground-floor room. There are no elevators. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend The Inn at the Tides. It was the perfect home base for our first visit to Bodega Bay. Looking forward to staying there again ... hopefully soon!

I want excited to see the film locations. We went first to the Bodega Bay Visitor Center to get the answers. There we met Emily who was taking care of the office that day. She kindly showed me all "The Birds" souvenirs in stock and mapped out all the film locations for us to visit. She spoke to us like we were old friends. We appreciated the welcoming hospitality to Bodega Bay. The Visitors Center had the most and best "The Birds" souvenirs available. Wonderful note cards with a crow, a guide book, a humorous t-shirts and tote bags showing a screen shot of The Birds film, commemorative t-shirt of the Alfred Hitchcock Film Festival held in the Bodega Bay. The center was decorated with The Birds theme was throughout, from crow bookends, framed autographed picture of Tippi Hedren and a silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock on the wall! The center is clean, inviting, warm and welcoming to the visitor. You will smile at the funny restroom sign. The Visitor Center is the best place to start if you want to know all about Bodega Bay!

Bodega Bay...close enough to be convenient, yet far enough from SF to feel like you've gone away…read more Unlike the Santa Cruz visitor center, this one actually has a small area to park your car. Since a lot of Bodega Bay now looks nothing like in the film The Birds, this is a good place to play tourist and get some free local maps and a ton of local restaurant and hotel brochures even if you have a GPS. The maps are helpful because many of the small buildings in the movie were actually sets and those that weren't sets were old wooden buildings that either rotted away or were destroyed by fire over the years. Even then, some interesting places from the film still exist today. The person who assisted me last time was really helpful and great with directions too. The visitor center is the perfect place to start a fun visit to Bodega Bay.

March 15-18, 2025 We…read morestayed in Site 76, which is close to the bay. You could see the bay from our campsite, and the road that runs around the bay. The park backs up to some private residences along the bay road. So it was not exactly rustic and peaceful, but it was still a nice place to hang out for a few days. As long as you can tune out the foghorn, you'll be okay. If that kind of thing bothers you (it would have driven me crazy in my younger years), then you best be as far from the bay as you can get. The foghorn sounds every 10 seconds, fog or no fog, 24/7. Most of the campsites have plenty of room, but some are better and more spacious than others. You can hike the dune trail from the campground (no dogs allowed, but watch for horses). We drove to the parking lot at the beach area, and walked down to the beach. It seemed nice, but it was windy and a bit rainy, so I didn't spend much time checking it out. Besides, I'm more interested in dog-friendly beaches. I'm sure that the campground has a totally different feel during the summer months, but in March, there was not much activity. We were one of the few campers in our campground loop, so very low key. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Tokens are needed for the shower. The token machine accepts dollar bills. Special Notes: No dogs allowed on the trails or on the beach. Motorhomes are limited to 31 feet. There is an RV water filling and dump station. As for the dune trails, I thought I could hike to the beach from the campground. But I hiked the trail to the road, crossed the road, and then the trail branched off onto several different pathways, all which ended abruptly. So I don't recommend it, at least not in March. May be a bit different in summer. Overall, this state park is a decent home base for exploring Bodega Bay and the Sonoma Coast.

Really, it's a short drive from the bay, or even from the greater Sacramento area so sure, bring it all! Leave the oppressive heat and wear pants for a change. Bring shoes and maybe take a hike...leave the extra car at home. Maybe bring some food items with you. The stores are expensive and have great seafood but they aren't meant to supply for longer stays.

More like jail than camping -- families beware…read more This RV park is absolutely not family-friendly. Families and groups of friends are not welcome -- even normal conversation outside "quiet hours" can get you kicked out. My family arrived at 9pm, set up quietly, and went to bed. I was two sites away from friends who were simply talking, and I couldn't hear a thing. Still, management evicted our entire group -- 9 campsites in total. By morning, a sheriff was outside our trailer. To his credit, he was calm, professional, and quickly saw we were just working professionals with kids. He even helped us find a friendlier campground that had a far better view of the water. Meanwhile, this park hands out a bizarre two-page "sin list" that literally calls children a "deadly sin." Bottom line: This place feels more like jail than a campground. Unless you plan on absolute silence, you risk being thrown out. Stay at one of the nearby RV parks -- they're friendlier and offer better views.

While we were simply sitting outside and talking, the manager showed up unannounced, never introduced themselves, and immediately accused us of being too loud. Instead of handling the situation in a respectful or professional way, they became extremely aggressive and threatening. We were told to leave on the spot, and when we asked for clarification, they claimed that if we didn't leave immediately, we would be considered trespassing. The manager escalated further by yelling at us, and eventually called the sheriff. Adding to the hostility, the park even has something in writing called the "7 Deadly Sins of RV Camping" -- shockingly, one of those "sins" listed is children. That alone says a lot about how little regard they have for families or guest comfort. Unfortunately we will never know if our kids are considered "well behaved" in their eyes since we left before our kids could even set foot on this place. This place is absolutely not for families with children or for multiple families looking to relax and hang out together by the campfire. It seems they do not want people spending time outside their RVs at all, which defeats the whole purpose of camping. Everything said about the managers in the other reviews is true -- they are rude, unprofessional, and create a hostile environment for guests. This type of treatment is completely unacceptable and made our stay very unpleasant. Save yourself the stress -- don't waste your time or money here. There are plenty of other RV parks that treat their guests with courtesy and respect.
