The location is right in the central part of Bodega Bay. Note that their restaurant (The Tides) is across the busy highway. On line reservations were easy, and staff super friendly despite my calls to make changes a few times:). I had reserved a room with a patio, since I wanted to be able to open the door and sit outside to take in the bay. Rooms with patios are only on the ground floor, and we were in building 12. The room was super clean and lovely, spacious as well. No strange smells as has been mentioned, but their was a heating unit under a window, and the carpet was wet underneath it. Mentioned this to the front desk staff and immediately were offered another room. This was not really a big deal, so told them it could be addressed after our checkout. It was furnished beautifully, however the bathroom looked a bit dated but clean nonetheless. Plenty of parking in front of the building and also come covered parking spots. A small fridge was in the room, and a small coffee maker for one cup at a time. I found that running water through it enabled me to make tea. Breakfast is included with the room, and this consists of a continental breakfast (granola, muffin, fruit cup, coffee) across the street at The Tides, from 8a-11am. Not a buffet, the plate is served to you. If you want a breakfast off the menu, the breakfast voucher can be used for 25% off an ordered breakfast. We did this both days, and the food was good, standard fare. The seating area looks over the bay and very serene. In the mornings, coffee, hot water for tea are available in the lobby area. They have local newspapers each day, and the view is amazing. A nice place to wait until it is breakfast time. The coffee is average, and cools off quickly. The landscaping is amazing, and well maintained. Walkable paths between the buildings, but places to walk are sketchy along the highway. Staff were endlessly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Overall, it was a nice getaway. Our room was about $350/night, probably right for the location and amenities (pool, hot tub, fitness center). However, the rooms seemed a bit 'tired', and could use some updating in terms of the bathrooms, coffee provided (how about serving one of our great local coffees? Bella Rosa, Black Oak, etc?) We did however get a complimentary bottle of local wine with check in. Not really as lush or luxurious as other hotels in that price range. Having said all that, would still stay here again.

Opened a few windows (weather was great) and that helped some. Again, view out the now open windows was great. Place was very clean, old but nice inside, no complaints there. Free continental breakfast was pretty good. Not sure why a croissant and a muffin were needed, especially since the muffin was a bit uninspired, but can't complain about free. The granola and juice were quite good. Would I stay again, probably, but not saying I won't shop around first to see if anything else hits me better.

I want excited to see the film locations. We went first to the Bodega Bay Visitor Center to get the answers. There we met Emily who was taking care of the office that day. She kindly showed me all "The Birds" souvenirs in stock and mapped out all the film locations for us to visit. She spoke to us like we were old friends. We appreciated the welcoming hospitality to Bodega Bay. The Visitors Center had the most and best "The Birds" souvenirs available. Wonderful note cards with a crow, a guide book, a humorous t-shirts and tote bags showing a screen shot of The Birds film, commemorative t-shirt of the Alfred Hitchcock Film Festival held in the Bodega Bay. The center was decorated with The Birds theme was throughout, from crow bookends, framed autographed picture of Tippi Hedren and a silhouette of Alfred Hitchcock on the wall! The center is clean, inviting, warm and welcoming to the visitor. You will smile at the funny restroom sign. The Visitor Center is the best place to start if you want to know all about Bodega Bay!

Bodega Bay...close enough to be convenient, yet far enough from SF to feel like you've gone away…read more Unlike the Santa Cruz visitor center, this one actually has a small area to park your car. Since a lot of Bodega Bay now looks nothing like in the film The Birds, this is a good place to play tourist and get some free local maps and a ton of local restaurant and hotel brochures even if you have a GPS. The maps are helpful because many of the small buildings in the movie were actually sets and those that weren't sets were old wooden buildings that either rotted away or were destroyed by fire over the years. Even then, some interesting places from the film still exist today. The person who assisted me last time was really helpful and great with directions too. The visitor center is the perfect place to start a fun visit to Bodega Bay.

The hot tub was fantastic and clean, and the pool and sauna were also well maintained. The outdoor music was great and created a nice atmosphere. However, the overall upkeep of the property could use more attention. There were dishes and glasses left sitting around, and I ended up bringing some back to Drake's myself because they were an eyesore. More frequent cleanup and attention to the common areas would make a noticeable difference. The porches also need some maintenance or refurbishment, as two people ended up getting splinters from them. At the Lounge restaurant, the lighting was too bright for a relaxing dining atmosphere. Some background music indoors would also help soften the sound of conversations and create a more inviting ambiance, especially since the outdoor music was so enjoyable. My sea bass or black cod was cooked nicely, but the overall dish was disappointing. The soupy bean sauce with fish on top didn't work particularly well, and the dish could have benefited from a vegetable or a more complementary starch rather than the heavy, soup-like combination. The mussels were overcooked and rubbery, and the fries didn't taste fresh. Staffing also seemed inadequate for a Saturday night, with only two people covering both indoor and outdoor areas. This meant waiting a long time for everything, but Daisy did her best. Drinks from the bar were great too. The bartender (blonde woman) was lovely and makes a great Negroni. Overall, there are some genuinely wonderful amenities here, particularly the clean pool, sauna, and hot tub. With better maintenance, more attentive housekeeping, improved restaurant execution, and adequate staffing, the experience could be better. He gave us a quick tutorial on the e-bikes, making sure we were all up to speed and comfortable before we hit the road. Throughout the entire ride, James was constantly checking in to make sure we were doing okay, enjoying ourselves, and taking in the experience. The e-bikes were a blast to ride, but honestly, a huge part of what made the afternoon so enjoyable was the time we spent talking and getting to know James. James has an incredible wealth of knowledge about the Napa wine industry, and he was able to share so much interesting information along the way. But what really stood out was that his knowledge went far beyond wine. He was genuinely interesting to talk to, incredibly personable, and clearly someone who has a lot of experience and perspective on life. It felt less like we were simply on a guided bike tour and more like we were spending an afternoon with a great person who happened to know Napa incredibly well. The scenery, the bikes, the wine, and the conversation all made for a memorable experience.

Goat Rock side no dogs allowed because the seals always wean their pups on the beach, but the dog friendly side is so spacious and a nice long stretch of beach with iconic rock arches out in the water that you will never forget. In my opinion, one of the most beautiful places in all of California and if it is low tide, there will be many starfish visible on the rock formations on shore lower section which is normally submerged! If you get a good sunset, this place cannot be beat for photos overlooking the water with those rock formations. It could make anyone with a cell phone camera take photos that look like a professional landscape photographer took them.

The parking lot will get full on the weekends, especially during spring when you have a better chance of seeing whales. Several picnic tables available with friendly seabirds checking out what you're eating. Restrooms are next to the parking lot.

More like jail than camping -- families beware…read more This RV park is absolutely not family-friendly. Families and groups of friends are not welcome -- even normal conversation outside "quiet hours" can get you kicked out. My family arrived at 9pm, set up quietly, and went to bed. I was two sites away from friends who were simply talking, and I couldn't hear a thing. Still, management evicted our entire group -- 9 campsites in total. By morning, a sheriff was outside our trailer. To his credit, he was calm, professional, and quickly saw we were just working professionals with kids. He even helped us find a friendlier campground that had a far better view of the water. Meanwhile, this park hands out a bizarre two-page "sin list" that literally calls children a "deadly sin." Bottom line: This place feels more like jail than a campground. Unless you plan on absolute silence, you risk being thrown out. Stay at one of the nearby RV parks -- they're friendlier and offer better views.

The CD took us though the town of Bodega, on a back road we never would have found and if we did, we would never had thought to take. It gave us a beautiful view of the countryside, got us up close and personal with the local bovines and a gave us a spectacular view of the ocean. With so many places to stop along the coast, the CD helped with pointing out some highlights like Goat Rock and a dog friendly beach right along Highway 1 that didn't require a hike to reach. The tour is as long or as short as you want to make it depending on if you stop at all the stops and how long you stay at each one. We definitely would use the CD again.
