Sliced (lean) or chopped (marbled). *St Louis ribs - Sweet & Smokey or House Dry-Rubbed Ribs. *Baby Back ribs - slow smoked and fire grilled *Smoked chicken - sliced The BBQ had a signature smokey flavor and tender, delicious taste. Stopped in to pick up food in the drive thru. Once I got to the window (it was open) I saw the drive thru guy put his nose in a side item to smell it (broccoli) I asked him did it smell okay, he said yes and proceeded to put it in the bag as I am saying are serious! When I ask for the manager everyone seemed like they didn't know who that was..finally some guy that had been standing there the whole time said he was the manager (Jordan) I told him the issue again - and that I didn't appreciate the other guy putting his nose/smelling my food, he should not be doing that at all. Jordan offered to remake my food, I declined. I was shocked by the whole experience and the drive thru guy was so nonchalant about it. Definitely a hard pass to visit again. read more

Sonny's is never a go to restaurant but I do entire it. I few days away I was in the mood brisket I came to Sonny's BBQ. I usually order the sliced brisket. The brisket is mediocre. It's not great, but it's not bad. The slides are not good and the drive thru is always slow. The food is never hot. I don't understand the time it take to receive my meal. Set my curbside pickup time for 5:45, arrived at 5:55 and let them know I was here, even did the thing where I let them know I was on the way. Still waiting at 6:30, with my cranky toddler in the car. Not a single soul has come outside to any car waiting. No one has gotten their order. At the very least kindly come out and explain the delay, don't just leave us all waiting for an hour. I even called them and they basically hung up on me. Absolutely ridiculous. I recently moved to lexington and I've been looking for a go to bbq place. Sonny's is close to my apartment so my boyfriend and I gave it a try one night. I got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and he got the turkey sandwich with baked beans. While service was fast and friendly, they did mess up his order and brought out a completely wrong order. It was a quick fix so not too big of an issue. The pulled pork was good but nothing really special or memorable. Fries were meh. Bbq sauce was good and they had a few options if you like sweet vs spicy. I'm glad I tried it but it's not a standout bbq place for me. read more

I went out on a limb and ordered Sonny's for delivery. It's my first time trying it, so I probably should have went to the restaurant. Not much worse then paying inflated delivery prices for food you aren't sure will be awesome. The food was just very ok. Pick 3 meal, beans, chewy tough garlic bread, beans and a side of corn nuggets. $40 with tip. Ouch. My food arrived barely warm, so that doesn't help. It's so close to me too. The sausage was amazing, the chopped pork had a lot of bark with amazing flavor, good coleslaw, not to sweet, and I can't say enough about the beans, awesome flavor with smoked pork mixed in. If you want bad service eat here. That's about all there is to it. I have a few gift cards left that I have to use then will likely give up on this restaurant. Ive only had any luck with service n prob 1 in 4 visits. My last visit I waited 20 minutes for someone to take my drink order. They returned with my drink didn't offer to take my order and didn't come back for another 10 minutes so I gave up and left without ordering. This visit I tried to get the horseradish sauce that is supposed to come with the sandwich. I ordered automatically Had to ask for it after bringing me blue cheese twice telling me it was horseradish. They finally told me they didn't have any at all, which is the same because that sandwich in that sauce is the whole reason I came there to eat in the first place. The main reason this was so aggravating is that when I told the server it was blue cheese and not the sauce I needed I was looked. At like I was stupid and didn't know what blue cheese tasted like. I finished my side before getting the first bite of my sandwich. Finally had to eat it without the sauce that's supposed to come with it. We were in the area for a softball tournament. We arrived shortly before their closing time and asked if it was ok to dine in. The lady answered very shortly that yes we could dine in but "we close @10." We offered to go somewhere else and she continued to seat us and then informed us that all we could order was a sandwich. We were polite ordered our "sandwich" and were out of there by 10. As a matter of fact we left before the other customers that had been there when we arrived. The sandwich was ok, it's just that I don't do bread so I would have preferred something else, but I did remove the bread and eat the brisket. We love Sonny's and will not let this experience stop us from patronizing but we will probably not stop at this one again if we are ever in Lexington. I'll never order online for this restaurant again. I thought the first time there was a problem that it was a fluke. The same problem again tells me that it's simply the way it is. The website is not customer friendly, but I managed to place my order, got a text confirmation. On arriving at the location, I followed their directions, texted that I was waiting, got a text back that they'd be out in a moment, but they never showed. I finally went inside, was handed my order after a wait. Got home to find it only partially correct, and cold. That was not only the most greasy bbq I've ever had, but the most greasy meal I ever had. No exaggeration, it was as if it was 50% Crisco, 50% frozen bbq meat thawed out at the store. I went to Sonny's tonight with high expectations. I have had friends tell me how great other locations were, now there's one in Lexington, Ky near me! I was not disappointed in the least, Sonny's was a great experience! The building is easy to get to and there's ample parking. The interior of the restaurant was very clean and uncluttered. The aroma when you enter the front door will make your mouth water! A lot of choices are available on the menu- I had half a chicken, macaroni and cheese, tater tots, coke slaw garlic bread. It was all very flavorful and the portions are just enough. My dinner companion had the St Louis Ribs, baked beans, a sweet potato, coke slaw and cornbread. I was able to sample one of the ribs- it was fantastic. We both had iced tea to drink and our server never let us run low. The service overall was excellent. I highly recommend Sonny's and I look forward to returning there soon! read more

Let me start by saying I'm a big Sunny's fan but tonight I got to say I was very disappointed. My wife and I both ordered the pork 3 way. When we got our food the fries were under cooked and the pork tasted like it was 2 days old. Sliced pork was so dry it crumbled. The ribs about broke a tooth they were so hard and ver done. Told the waitress about it and she was very kind and said she'd get us some fresh sliced pork. She brought us sliced chicken lol. Sunny's can get it right and it's great. Great bbq chain! We have used Sonnys bbq sauce for years but never ate at their restaurants! I had ribs n baked beans and Ioved them. I'm Picky about bbq beans and these were almost as good as my wife's. Pork n beans w most likely their bbq sauce in it along w other sweet ingredients! Great. In fact I'm picky about bbq, mostly the sauce! Bad sauce bad meal! Being from Okla we like tomato based bbq sauce and Sonny's is! Ribs were not burned or over cooked. St Louis style! I visited on a Wednesday evening, and stood at the hostess stand for over 10 minutes. Finally, was seated and ordered ice tea. The tea came, then waited for sweetener, then waited for a straw. I ordered the BBQ sampler plate, hoping for some decent Q. Dinner arrived,and then I had to go up to the kitchen area to get a fork. First up was the chicken, which was blood raw, brisket slices that were difficult to chew, ok ribs, and ok pulled pork. I asked the server to check out the chicken----- she told me that's the way Sonny's serves it because they cook with oak. I laid down the BS flag. The manager type came by and apologized, said the cook is new, and this shouldn't have been served. I hope Sonny's can do better, but I'll be eating elsewhere. read more
