Went for lunch on my Birthday and lets just say not happy at all loaded tater tots didnt have everything on it, my other orders was wrong as well and the long island ice tea was straight liquor, this place has went down hill, If the staff cant do thier job then quit so someone else can because its not hard to do your job and follow a menu like its not rocket science. I order the sweet and smoked. I got home I had 4 ribs that was the dry. They didnt give me any bbq. sauce to go on them. They were so tough and cold. I only are 3 and give my dog the other. She even had trouble eating. For $17.00 I expected more than 4 ribs. I called and they said they go by weight. They should tell you they go by weight. And when they said weight do they mean 1/2 lb. Service is on point and the ambiance is chill however the BBQ is (for me) lacking. The meat is meant to be smothered in BBQ sauce and if that is your thing I highly recommend however if you are looking for juicy succulent smoked or BBQ this is not the place. I wish someone would explain to me how Albany, Georgia is so devoid of good BBQ. I have had Riverside and it was pretty good. I don't dare try Blackbeard's or whatever pirate name it is called that serves seafood with BBQ. A real BBQ joint serves just BBQ. Even though Sonny's is a chain, it is definitely the best BBQ option I know about in Albany. It has recently been remodeled but this is possibly the busiest Sonny's I have ever been in. I bet there were near 35 employees working on a Sunday night and it was packed. I always like the Sampler, which gives you a small portion of brisket, pulled pork, 2 ribs, 1/4 chicken, cornbread, beans, and slaw for about $15. Sometimes, I get bigger portions than others. And anytime I get it, it seems like one night the brisket will be the best and the next time the pork will be the best...etc. For sauce-aholics anonymous everywhere like myself, Sonny's is your must go to joint. You have 5 BBQ sauces - original mild tangy tomato, sweet, Sizzlin Sweet, Smokin, and a mustard base that you have to ask for and comes in packets. Come on, Sonny's, put the mustard one on the table where it belongs! All sauces have their own merit. The mustard one goes best with the pulled pork in my opinion. I like the Sizzlin Sweet the best with it's sweet and spicy tomatoey taste. I think Sonny's has some of the best beans ever with it's thick, sweet, and smoky conglomeration. So where to begin....... We ended up at this place after going to a few other spots that were closed. Walking up and inside smelled amazing. You can just smell the flavors and love put into this pit BBQ. The staff were friendly and on point with service and then it went to hell. I know they just opened and have bugs to work out. Understandable. But they flavor of the food just doesn't taste the same. I tried both styles of the St. Louis ribs. Both were dry and hard to chew. Everyone at the table had different BBQ and except for the chicken it was dry. The bread wasn't truly toasted. And the appetizer came out with the meal which defeats the purpose. First off let me start this with they only been open 6 days! The food was very delicious but there again the part that I didn't like was that all our food arrived at the same time. I noticed that all the staff was very friendly and going about their business. They have bus boys that come by and retrieve anything empty on your table which I thought was nice.I did not get the gentleman's name but he was very friendly and very very nice. I went there a few weeks ago for curbside pick up. The experience was not good but there was a lot going on around here then. The management reached out to me unsolicited and I shared my experience with them. I told them it was just bad service and I would try them again in the future. Well, this past week I figured I would try them again. BIG MISTAKE, I ordered online and it told me to pick up at 1:18. I got there a minute early and called them like the email said to do. 1:26 I call again they tell me we are bagging up your order right now be right out. 1:37 I call again no food yet. The tell me the person is on the way out and I look in the mirror and they were. 20 minutes late but hey things happen. The person gets to my car and tells me we are out of sliced beef so we have you chopped. Now, if they had told me this when I ordered I probably would have been fine. Had the told me on the first call I probably would have been fine. But when they don't even tell me on the third call, they are not only late but don't even have what I ordered. They just figured they would substitute and not tell me. As I said above that may have been an acceptable solution in any of the 4 previous contacts but I was not willing to do that at this time. I told the person take it back and refund my money charged when I placed the order. I figure I better call and make sure because so far they seem less than worried about doing the right thing. I call the first time and they set the phone down. I hear in the background they are talking bad about another customer, I wait about 5 minutes and hang up. I call back and they put "one of" the managers on the phone and I tell him I want to be sure I get a refund. He then tells me that even though I provided them my card to place the order he can not process it without me giving my card again. Quite honestly at that time I do not trust this place and refused. They then had a "general manager" call me. She did offer to deliver the refund to my job. I didn't want them at my place of employment. I still don't trust or believe I need to supply my info they already have to them. I told her I would allow 24 hours to refund my money and not post this review. Mind you I asked for nothing except a refund for an order the could not and did not provide. I accepted nothing from them. They had 4 chances to jets let me know what was happening and did nothing. The food is always good, not great, but my problem is the pricing. We used to go almost once a week but we stopped when we tightened down our budget.
