Greasy fried hamburgers, better than McDonalds, but not as good as Carl's Jnr. The drive in service is novel (to an aussie), but not terribly efficient. If your arteries are up to it, the Peanut Butter milkshake is divine, but at 680 calories, it isn't exactly a light addition to your meal! read more

My parent's moved to Stockton and the only good thing was that I got to stop by Sonic on the way home or before I got to there place. OK for the longest time they would show their commercial on TV, and well since I live in Hayward there wasn't any of them close enough. I don't have fast food often, but it's a treat to come here. I typically like their tots and drinks. I like the ease of paying with my card right then and there. No bad expieriences, but good eats. Everything I've had here was good, mainly the finger foods. They can never seem to get an order right or out within a decent amount of time here. I find that the drive thru is a better option if you want your order in a timley manner. The sausage with egg breakfast burrito is pretty good (although last time my burrito was ice cold in the center). The cheese sticks are a little on the salty side- but it's not too much of an issue as long as you order a Slushee or a Limeade to wash it down! The strawberry limeade or the grape cola are the reasons that I put up with the slow service! I just wish they would open one up in the bay area! read more

Oh man. Sonic Drive In. I never thought I'd have the pleasure in California. You see, I have family in the midwest, in Anytown, Kansas. It's quite literally the middle of nowhere. The biggest town nearby is Great Bend, and they have a Sonic. It was my first exposure to their mustard burger, but never my last. Whenever we visited my relatives in Texas I was sure to set aside time for a Cherry Limeaid or their onion rings. But on my way back from Tahoe, I realized I'd be going through Tracy, and I'd heard a nasty little rumor that there was a Sonic in Tracy. (Actually, I had a craving one day and looked it up, and considered driving all the way from San Jose to Tracy just for a goddamned cherry limeaid!) Anyways, I called someone to get directions (screw TomTom, it pays to have nerd friends with a computer attached to their wrists :D ) and was in reminiscent bliss. Of course, it wasn't as good as I remembered. Very few things aren't inflated in wistful memory. But it's still, by far, the best fast food burger I've ever had (although I don't consider In N' Out to be fast food; I find it's quite the antithesis of anything resembling "fast"). But man, oh man, a cherry limeaid on a hot day is unbeatable. read more

Staff always seem like they are high on dope. Hey wait this is Tracy. Seems like the last few times they are always out of something . Tonight no toast for the grilled cheese. My coney dog was BLACK way over cooked (see pic) and no chilie on the chilie cheese tots. Normally good drinks and pretty good food for the price, but tonight was a joke. I showed the young red head asst manager who did offer to fix it but I've the movie "waiting" so no way tonight. I'm very very escalated with Tracy drive thru. I always give business but every time my order always wrong.i forgave on those times but This time I got more escalated because my blast only had ice cream. I order a waffleberry blast with Reese added in it. All I got was ice cream. NO WAFFLES NO BROWNIE NO REESES. Very very annoyed I will not be going back ever. They need to teach the right people how to work drive thru and the person's that's making it. This is bullshit. I just threw my ice cream away. Through looking at all the Sonic commercials tonight my wife,sons,brother/sister inlaw, their kids and myself all loaded up the new family van and finally decided to explore a Sonic experience for dinner.We live in Walnut Creek which is over 1 hour away. It was 6:00 P.M. when we drove up to a order kiosk to order.We pushed the to order button and heard nothing but static coming out of the speaker.After a few different order takers I finally had one that spoke up to take our order. I told her I was ordering all combos and wanted fries and Coke on all the combos, the girl told me they were out of cheese for the cheeseburgers and medium cups. So as I ordered she kept asking me if I wanted fries or tator tots and what kind of soda for every item? I also ordered a Molten Chocolate Cake. About 15 minutes later the roller girl came out and handed me a bag of 1/2 filled WILTED cold french fries, a bag of cold cheese-less cheeseburgers,the large sodas and a chocolate milk shake? They also charged us with large sodas since they were out of medium cups and full price for the cold cheese-less cheeseburgers. The once impressionable "Sonic" experience has been terminated. I stopped by this place with a group of friends after a camping trip. Sonics is rare for us because it's about 3 hours away from where we live so we like it enough for the rarity. In my opinion, the food is average. Better than some chains but not as great as others. They're most known for their drinks (which are amazing) and their happy hour. GO TO THE HAPPY HOUR. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered a root beer float and a NY style hot dog. Overall, it was pretty satisfying. The staff is friendly and attentive enough. Overall, okay place. I appreciate that they have things on their menu that aren't common in others. read more

All right, Bay Area people, this is the closest Sonic around. Why oh why do they have to taunt us with those TV ads?? Let me tell you: IT'S WORTH THE DRIVE. Love the slushes; especially lemon-berry. The burgers are ok; but my personal fave is the Chicken Club Toaster ..(Texas toast; fried chicken patty; honey mustard dressing, cheese AND bacon) They have a Frito wrap (fritos, chili and cheese in a flour tortilla) every once in awhile, not a regular menu item but yummy as hell. Also Frito pie- same thing minus the tortilla. The ice cream things are ok; but they aren't really anything special. Certainly not special enough to justify taking up room in my belly that could otherwise be devoted to more slushy goodness. read more

Oh how I wish Sonic's was in the Bay Area. Though I don't mean to wish harm on people here by death of grease and transfat, I do wish more people would enjoy Sonic's vs the everyday Taco Smell and Jack in a Crack. Their Texas Toast sandwiches are yummy in burger or breakfast form. Their malts are always consistent and creamy, never too thick for the straw or watery. The tator tots will zap you back to middle school years wishing you had a chocolate malt to dip them in back then too. (WHAT?! Yah, try it.. its yummy. Ok, I know I'm a fatty.. HA!) Their breakfast burritos are also really good. They're fruity drinks and sundae's are delicious too. Ok, here's the disclaimer. Their nutrition facts are to die for. Seriously. I think it's safer to eat BK or MCDs on a regular than it is compared to Sonic's. Minus one star for some stalls being out of order (I saw at least two and parked into one.) and minus another star for the long wait on my order (at least 10-15 minutes!). Quick to respond on the stalls when ready to order. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger on the square bread combo today (I forgot the number and name, lol). It comes with fries and a drink. Around $7 for the combo. Compared to my other experiences at Sonic's, my order would come out quick, however my order took quite awhile, which sucked because I was hungry and it was super hot! (2:30ishPM). When my order finally came, the car hop apologized for the wait and gave me two coupons for tots! That definitely made it better, lol! Very unorganized. Been here about 4 times during different parts of the day and it seems like each shift manager doesn't have it together. Drive thru set up is ridiculous. Blocks cars of people eating inside the restaurant and in the section where they walk it out to your car. Each time takes 10 minutes or well over for my food. Drive thru time is even worse. ZERO stars because this was going to be my FIRST time here. A friend and I drove from Fremont to Tracy only to find that they were closed. We were only 15 minutes too late. Get this... I even called earlier to see their operating hours and this BITCH told me they were open till 2.00am, we arrived at Sonics FROM Fremont at 1.15am. Eager to try some of their much raved menu. The food was great, especially the tots, mozzarella sticks and onion rings. The fritos breakfast burrito was kind of nasty however. The last time i came here there was a bad stench of cow manuer so that made me lose my appetite to eat. Located near a big mall but there seems to always be ghetto people roaming around the sonic. Ive always liked Sonic. Although we didn't do the whole car hop stall thing because we had 10 people in our party, we sat outside and ordered outside. One of the boards it was hard to hear her.....Nevermind the fact that Tracy is always freaking windy, so that didn't help either! The service was fast, I think because there wasn't really anyone there. A girl came out in her Rollerblades with our food. I'm surprised our food didn't end up on the ground with how uncomfortable she looked on those things! All she really needed to do was just stand there and let the wind blow her to us. I am a little disappointed however......Between 10 people, we had 2 tables. Everyone ordered individually or as pairs.....so there were numerous trips outside.....not one time did she ask if we needed condiments. Our other table asked for sauce and she had to go in and bring it out. She dropped off our food and left right away. She came back to drop off something else and I asked for Ketchup. And this was a back an forth process. Kinda felt bad for her and wasn't doing it intentionally. Usually there is a condiment tray person that comes around. This place is iconic but somehow I resisted my urge to try something out just out of the cold vibe this place gives out. But eventually I had an oil change scheduled at sears and since it was about to take an hr, I decided for a long walk to meet my daily goals on UP3 an on the way back I crossed through sonic of which the foot long hot dog caught my eye. Just the thought of chili cheese dog made me gravitate towards this location, I ordered the same through the seating area outside and when I tried to pay through the machine outside it didn't go through but the server helped me out with that. Service was fast, food was packed nicely and they gave onions on request. Now the food, the sausage was good but not great, chili-cheese added to the flavor but the bun was just a mess it was too light to hold the dog. Overall a good 1st experience but nothing special enough for an extra star. read more

The food is 3 stars for me. My experience with one of my friends = a million stars. Therefore it balances out to 5. Before the Gilroy one opened up, it was like a lot of other people. No Sonic, we see the commercials all the time, let's go to Tracey! Fun times, full of cows, oddly placed streets and fun discussions :) The food is fairly basic though much better than some of the other places where the food sits in my stomach like lead. So slow! This place seriously has the slowest service ever. Whether you do the walk up, drive up, or drive thru, it's all slow. I've been here a few times and its always the same routine. You wait forever for someone to come on the speaker, you state your order, you wait again forever, you get your food, there's a mistake with the order, you wait forever for them to fix it, you get your order again, they throw some coupons at you, and you leave wondering what you did wrong in your life. This is a hard review to give. I've loved Sonic since I was a little kid. Tracy is the closest sonic to Dublin and it's 45 minutes away. Tonight we drove the 45 minutes and when we pulled up it looked like no one was there. Score! I pushed the order button and waited. Like 15 minutes. I thought here must be a mistake. So I pulled out and drove through the drive thru. I set behind a guy and it felt like I was in a keystone cops routine. The guy on the other end asked about 100 of the craziest questions you've ever heard. People were walking up and knocking on the window raising their hands and driving away.
