Not sure why the reviews for this place are so terrible. I had a sudden craving for a corndog while out at Busse Woods in Schaumburg, so my husband and I drove over here to get one, and of course decided to order a few other things to try as well. Pro tip - Make sure to order via their app as they have exclusive items you cannot get otherwise, like a Dirty Dr. Pepper which is delicious! They also have coupons, so we ended up getting the tater tots we planned on ordering anyway for free. The corndog itself was good. Nothing exceptional, but not bad either. What we really liked were the two other sandwiches we ordered - The grilled cheeseburger (app exclusive) - tastes like a Wendy's doublestack but on Texas toast. Very tasty! Philly cheesesteak - we weren't expecting it to be as good as it was, or as large. The only thing that would have made it better was a little salt, pepper, and mayo. I dipped mine in Sonic's signature sauce which is also very good. Tater tots - Good. Not much to say about them. Pretzel twist - I didn't eat it until later that day, but they are always good. And they crisp up nice in the air fryer. The cheese dipping sauce it comes with is good; reminds me of the old school cheese you could get with an order of nachos at the roller rink (showing my age with that reference). Our order was 100% accurate right down to the sauces and condiment packages we asked for. If this location was closer to home I'd probably hit it up every week just for that Dirty Dr. Pepper. Now if only they would bring back the lemon berry cream slush. I miss it! Visit date: 10/26/24 read more

It's a fast and easy experience to place an order and receive your food. The stalls face north and south so you can choose to park in the sun or shade all day. When you place an order, it asks you if you want to leave a tip we could not figure out how to say no so we just rounded up the change. We ordered two of the Bacon ranch queso wraps. The bacon and the sauce is very salty so if you don't like salty food, you won't like this wrap. The chicken is breaded and juicy and the everything was fresh. The price is right too at just $1.99 each wrap... you can't beat that. As a matter of fact they have 5 times for under $2 We will be back again to try other food and give it a try as well. read more

My food had hair in it on 12/4 I was told I would a call back from the store manager i didn't, I was told I would get a refund for the receipt I didn't 14 days later now I was told they will only receive the amount for the taters tots. read more

Completely absurd Me and my friend ordered two drinks a burger and chicken tenders. We waited more than 25 minutes for our order. Other orders that arrived after us still for served before us. Eventually, we didn't get served. Although I received my drink, which was a cherry limeade, but received a plain club soda, no cherry and no lime I knocked on the window, only employee sign and got approached by two workers and asked what was the problem. I said my cherry limeade here on my receipt is a plain club soda. They proceeded to go inside at a lime and give me the same drink, no cherry nothing taste like sprite with only lime. The rest of the food was OK but the fact that we waited more than 25 minutes for our food and got the wrong drink at this location is completely outrageous. read more

This is an iconic place for small American snacks and shakes. We got the mozz cheese sticks and jalepeno poppers. Both were really good and it's a great place to get some quick fried food. read more

Always a wait here. Even if you're the only person in line. I feel like the staff works hard, but they just don't have enough people working. If you want to eat here make sure you have extra time built into your day for the trip. read more

What a GIANT Rip-off. When paying with cash , debit, or charge they have the nerve to charge a Transaction Fee. The fee is used for building maintenance. WHAT the F@#k Bulls#$t is this crap they are trying to pull on their customers ? I will NEVER EVER go to Sonic again. I hope that enough people stand up to this total unreasonable customer gouging greed and join me in boycotting this and any other business that thinks they can charge us a fee for our patronage. They should be cutting their prices instead of making themselves richer my shafting the people who made them what they are today. Please join me in saying NO to these unnecessary fees and God Bless America. . read more

the menu is confusing and a lot of items are not in stock....my complaint here is really that the grilled cheese we got was the end of the loaf, for what u pay for a grilled cheese here we aren't getting actual pieces of white bread? how cheap can this company be? what cruddy customer service, so cheap. the grape cream slush is always a home run but ordering it they always get confused cause they aren't on the menu i guess or only the drive-up one maybe?!? same with certain specials. read more

Their food is pretty awful, not cooked fully, shakes are pretty icky, I really don't recommend this place. Everything tastes frozen

Don't advertise a special for the app and then turn off the special. I was told by an employee because they were overwhelmed with orders that they turned off the ability to order half price shakes through the App. I was then told that I could order at the restaurant but worked be expected to pay full price. We live in St Charles and drove 35 minutes because it's the nearest location to us. They really expected us to pay full price for a special after making it where it couldn't order it at the discounted price. It's bad enough you don't have fresh bananas anymore. Called customer service and they offered 2 slushees and a $5 coupon. Um no! They should have offered to cover the shakes. I left and went to Culver's! read more

THEY RAN OUT IF SLUSHY? I completely don't understand how... it's summer. Wtf doesn't make any sense

The drinks are pretty tasteful and I do recommend there pretzel and cheese dip. Always try your drink before you pull away from the drive thru because most of the time the soda is flat. The service is slow and most of the time the orders are wrong. read more

OMG they are so slow. Their line is so long and their food is so greasy horrible customer service.

Horrible experience. I was stuck in the long line in the DT for at least 20 minutes. Then when I got to the speaker they said "sorry we can't take orders". So I said ok and came back like 2 or 3 hours later and I went through the DT and what do you know the ice cream machine is broken. Would not recommend. I checked the day after I came and guess what the ice cream machine is broken. like ok McDonald's. Even the Ambiance is bad. read more

Never go here... everytime we order something is missing or wrong. And if you try to order anything everything is always "out of stock" or some bs. Everytime we order it happens it's so upsetting. I've worked in food 4 years and I've never had this much crap happen where I've worked. This place has been here for ages and still can't get stuff right... read more

I had never eaten Sonic before. My fiance's daughter picked me up a double cheeseburger and tots. It was pretty good. Basically on par with other fast food places, with a bit of it's own flavor. Just like how all fast food burger joints have a bit different taste. I would try it again; and, give other menu items a try. I didn't eat in, so, I cannot comment on the establishment, or, service. But, 3 stars for an adequate meal. read more

Leo makes the best slushes ever! Go to this Sonic! It's the best!!!! Very clean and awesome staff.

Got food poisoning from the popcorn chicken. I should have known when the pieces were all crunchy. ;(

On Tuesdays they have 5 for $5 hamburgers and half price cheeseburgers. I ordered cheese burgers yesterday and they forgot the cheese on them. They got everything else right though! haha. Any how, I called back and got great service, instead of just reimbursing me for the cheese or just giving me a free burger in the future, they gave me 5 cheese burgers to replace the 5 I ordered that they forgot cheese on. Very happy about this great customer service! I am also happy because I asked them to mark the burgers so I know what is what and they made sure I knew exactly which was which when I got my order. Very great customer service here! read more

So, I noticed that the new Sonic Drive-In opened up in my town and I was like YAY a Sonic! I had tried the Sonic brand of food fare at the Sonic in Bartlett and was like "meh" could be better. Tonight, I decided to try one of their foot long coneys.....mostly for the novelty. :) Plus, I had tried one of their burgers and wasn't impressed. I also tossed in a side of their famous cheese tots to see what all the hubbub was about. Complete my meal with one of their equally famous cherry limeades and that was my meal this cool Sunday night in Streamwood. Well, the foot long, was....okay. A bit messy to eat, but thank God for the tray they put it in cause I'd have had it all over my lap if I tried to eat it without the tray! I'd rather go to Portillo's down the street to get a "great hot dog". It may not be a FOOT LONG, but at least it will taste awesome! Sorry, Sonic. The cheese tots tasted like your regular ol Ore Ida tater tots with a slice or two of Kraft American Cheese melted on them. I kid you not! Nothing special.....with or without cheese...sorry the power of cheese did not save you little tots. :( Sorry again, Sonic. When I was all let down I tasted the cherry limeade.....maybe it would lift my already meh experience.....YAY! It did! Cherry Limeade ROCKS! I'd totally get it again, though easy on the ice though, half of my cup was filled with their little pellety ice cubes....I was sad there was no more cherry limeade left. :( *sob* Anyway, it seems like Sonic is "just another fast food restaurant" except their drinks are awesome and they have skating carhops! :) I will go back, but probably only for the drinks...maybe a malt or a slushie next time? read more

Restaurant Review Drive thru check! Personally I have had great experience at Sonic in the past especially with the groupon package deal. We ended up getting the bacon cheese burger which was significantly better than McD, tater tots, mozzarella sticks, drinks, and even a banana split. Service is quick and all you have to do is press the button to order more. One piece of advice would be come during the summer months, I can't imagine eating here now that it is starting to get cold. Pro- Unique dining experience, average price Con- No dine in seating which makes it difficult in winter months Hidden deal- Combo meal deal Daily happy hour drink specials in the afternoon read more

It's amazing that this place hasn't closed yet. When your chili comes out burnt and yet you still serve it. Where's the quality? Obviously not here. Go down the road to Portillo's and eat better. read more

Worst. Drive-thru. Ever. We waited for 12 minutes at the window to get our popcorn chicken bites and a Philly steak sandwich. That was it. The window girl even apologized to us for the wait, but there was only 1 other car in located within the drive-up area. There was literally nobody else around ordering food. The wait was horrendous, the pricing was way over-the-top, and the food was low quality. This place was a problem for us years ago, and unfortunately nothing has changed. Avoid however you can!! read more

Usually I go to Sonic and have a great experience, except recently I went in and had a tater tot experience from hell. I went through the drive through and ordered 2 orders of sweet potato tots, a milkshake, and some onion rings. The cashier asked me if I wanted ketchup and of course I said yes. I get home, open my order, and to my surprise, only white tots!!! And no ketchup! ahhh! I call them up , and they tell me they dont even have sweet potatoes anymore. Wow. Why did I not know about this sooner? read more

WAY TOO SLOW!!! Been there 3 times. Food is like any other Sonic, no complaint there but the wait times. Oh man... Average wait time is 25 minutes for me. It's been more than once for me to feel like they forgot my order or gave it to someone else. read more

Portillo's has way better quality hamburger. Sonic's is okay but not near Portillo's. I suspect Sonic uses fillers, bread or ? something in their hamburger because their double bacon cheeseburger just doesn't have the quality of taste that Portillo's hamburger has. And no, I do not work for or get any compensation from this review. To me, Portillo's is miles better in taste. Sonic's hamburger is just so so because of the actual beef meat itself. read more

Is your company so bad off that you don't put napkins in your order bags? Why is this so hard. Next time I'll just send Sonic a bill for dry cleaning since if I had at least one napkin I would of not got stuff all over. read more

It is the longest drive thru you'll sit in. I pushed the button to order. It was at least 10 min before someone answered "I'll be right with you". 10 min later, the button light comes off and I had to push again to order. Then it took another 15 min to get our food. That's not fast food. read more

Its official, Sonic is not worth my money. Every time I have been here either part of my food order is cold, the wait is forever in the drive-thru, and last night when I asked for nuts on my sundae, they acted like I was crazy. Plus, they were out of fudge so I had to settle for chocolate syrup and they barely gave me any. I used to remember going to Sonic as a kid and loving every bite... either my palette has evolved or the chain is just not up to par anymore. And people who give this place 5 stars for a slushy alone? That isn't worthy... a good establishment should have good food all around. read more

This Sonic has the joy of being less than a mile from my house. I have been here a few times, but they have yet to really WOW me. Especially since they have a drive-thru, yes. Which is nice. But they don't ever have drive-thru times. For example, I just stopped during their "happy hour" to get three milkshakes--one for me and two for the kids, and I was in the line for 15 minutes. What?! I would have just canceled my order and left if I hadn't been stuck between the cars. So the food is A-OK, but the service time is dragging. It's not actually "fast" food if it's not "fast". read more

At last.... Sonic has arrived in my town. Today marks the inaugural day of Sonic Drive-In in Streamwood. Having opened a few other locations in the northwest and western burbs I was happy despite the 30-40 minute drive to get my fill of their fare. Now that they're closer? Fare thee well toes, I shall miss the sight of thee. My waist shall be laid to waste. My belt? Torn asunder. Oh happy day, thy name be Sonic Drive-In. I sit here on my couch, sipping on a cherry limeaid slush and grinning like a damn fool. And why? Because not more than 10 minutes from my house I can go get my tot on. I can get my frito wrap on. I can get my ridiculous chicken on texas toast sammich on but most important I can go get my slush on. Oh Sonic Drive-In. Delicious little vixen on the corner of Barrington Rd and my dreams. read more

I had no friggin idea that Sonic opened up a location just a block away from Target. I had to stop by and get my grub on!!! I love going to Sonic on a warm sunny day and having the carhop skate my order over. Alas it is February and its colder than a polar bears toenails outside...so I decide to just use the drive thru. I don't think they use carhops until the weather gets warmer anyways. I love the variety in their menu...from a coney dog, to popcorn chicken, to burgers and slushies. I just got a SuperSonic cheeseburger combo with tater tots of course. Its pretty dangerous having a Sonic this close to the crib...I better start exercising. read more

I love going to the Sonic Drive-In for several reasons. First, this particular drive in appears to be well run. They are extremely efficient (we always go to the drive in stations), pleasant, and have always gotten our order right. We enjoy being able to listen to music or read out loud to one another while we eat- and a drive in offers a perfect opportunity for that as you are not going to disturb any other patrons. I also love the Sonic Drive-In because they have more than one sugar free option for soda- I love their Diet Lime Limeade. The burgers are delicious, they have great fries and sweet potato tots- and my husband loves their Ice Cream/icee dessert. We will continue to go to this restaurant when we are looking for a good burger and a quiet meal together alone :) However, it is a fast food joint so your healthy options are limited! read more
