We have gone to this location multiple times because it is the closest one near us. While the staff is always nice and the location is clean, it is really hard to give it a better review because we always end up waiting 15+ minutes for our order. Especially when a lot of the time we just order drinks on the app. It is also usually only one person running the food out to all the cars. I ordered a large shake and my card wasn't going through to which I asked one of the employees to please try inside,One of the employees checked my card and it wasn't going through either came back and he said " I am going to have to get that shake back" rather then explaining that the card wasent working inside either. It was such a nice day out that we were in the mood for chili cheese coneys and fries! This location is deep into east Riverview but it's still closer to us than the one on 60. There is no drive thru at this location so that was different but we didn't mind anyway and ordered away. The speakers on the order screen can definitely be lowered because it seemed like it was about to blow out. Nick took our order and he delivered it. He met with our dogs and gave them some love and gave our order precisely. We tipped him generously and he seemed very grateful and that made our trip even better. Third time in a row I've had issues at store 5298 (Riverview) and this was the worst. Ordered ahead on the app and stall showed delivered for 10 minutes before I went to check and ask about our order. (They're falsifying delivery times to lie about their metrics being better than they actually are) Was then told that slushee machine was out and they offered a different drink. Manager on duty told me he couldn't refund me because I ordered online. He told me to call OKSonic who then said they couldn't refund me because I received a partial order and had to go back to store. The cherry on top was having to return a blast also because it was literally wrapped in hair from the person delivering the food. I guess I'm just out the money for for two slushees and a blast? Ok so, I love "real" banana flavored milkshakes. In my quest, I tried PDQ's seasonal Banana Pudding shake. Nope, not the one. It was more like a Vanilla Wafer shake w/a hint of banana. So, the search continued. Last night, I tried Sonic's Fresh Banana milkshake (again) and it was AMAZING! A liberal amount of "ripe" (not green) bananas carefully blended w/ice cream (or base). Result? An amazing 1200 calories of bliss! If I'm going to "fall off", it needs to be RIGHT! In general, most restaurants battle consistency issues. Sonic is no different. So, don't expect nirvana on every visit. Let's be realistic. That being said, this location (Balm Riverview) is the most consistent...for a QUALITY banana milkshake. Due to past quality issues, I avoid other Sonics in the area (Big Bend, and Valrico on 60). I love Sonic Drive In but this location is the worse. I spent around $25,00 about 4 weeks ago to get the worst food ever. Ist the hamburgers was RAW. 2nd the inside of the buns was BURNT. The food was horrible the only thing that was ok was the drinks. I sent an email to sonic about this experience and they said they would have someone from that store contact me. I waited over a week no one contacted me so I sent a 2nd email and said no one had contacted me. They finally had the owner contact me he said he also owned the store in Brandon on 60 he said he was sorry for the bad experience and he was going to send me gift cards to compensate the bad food and all. I went to sonic for lunch and ordered a crispy chicken sandwich. Once I received it I started eating, by the time I was half way through the sandwich I noticed a nasty taste once I opened it up. It was completely uncooked and raw. I asked to speak with the manager. His response was "I'm sorry this happened to you I can tell it's raw and we batch cook so we don't temp all the meats when they come out. this isn't the first time it's happen" well I asked to speak with his supervisor which is Dwayne. He didn't pick up but I left him a detailed message. By the time he called me back I was running a high fever and feeling sick. I had to go to the ER. I plan on calling him back shortly. I also called the board of health to report this location. I was treated for food poisoning in the ER and now I'm in so much pain and vomiting. They made us wait 20 min to take order then the manager comes on the system and tells us they cannot serve us as they do not have 3 staff and he is not able to process our order as he is trying to manage with only 3 staff. all the kids were disappointed. I've been "trying" to go there for a few years now. At first, it was 50/50 on weather or not you got a fresh "anything". And hot fires, forget it. Never happens unless you tell them that you will wait for fresh fries. Same with anything you get from there. It takes them longer to fix a smoothie than it does to get your food out, so "made fresh" is BS. Then has just declined even more over the past 7 years or so. My last order was a sausage egg and cheese burrito. It was cold and the eggs were brown. "Brown scrambled eggs". How do you do that? I had green ham and eggs in the Army from a can of C-Rations that was prepared in 1964 that tasted fresher... I know to make brown scrambled eggs, (everybody does if you've ever been the last ones to a breakfast buffet), you cook them and let them sit for an hour, that's how. It's the worst location I've ever been to and I'm in my 50's and have lived all over the country. I have to go to Brandon or the Big Bend locations in order to get the sonic I grew up with and loved. It's just bad, don't take the chance. Go to one of the other locations. read more

Always great service! Servers bring the food quickly and never get orders incorrect. The food can sometimes leave a little to be desired, but honestly, that's all Sonics, so I don't hold it against them. There are always coupons and specials, so you almost never have to pay the actual menu price. read more
