The food is solid enough, but unless you feel like waiting 40 minutes for it in a stall, I recommend hitting the drive-through. There'll still be a long wait, but atleast you'll know when it ends. Great place to eat, unless you're actually hungry. read more

Listen. I've been to a lot of Sonic's. This one in ooltewah is the best. What ever staff working as of 02/27/26 at lunch is killing it in that kitchen. The food was exceptional came out quickly and definitely worth every penny I spent. Burger was fresh and very well cooked and tots were perfectly crispy. Staff very pleasant and friendly. The food tasted like old fryer grease. The wait time at the drive through was 14 minutes and I watched two people working while 3 stood on their phones texting. The guy who took my order completely messed it up and when I drove around he was the only male in the building that I could see and he had his phone in his hand texting. This place needs new management or to shut down completely. It's by far the worst sonic in the area and it continues to decline. They need a real adult working with the kids at night. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would. We've been trying this sonic for years, and it never improves. Always poor quality food (and or thrown together and thrown in a bag making a mess), always messed up orders, and the crew couldn't be unhappier. DONT EAT HERE!!! The worst place to eat. If you come here, you will wait 15 minutes for your order to be taken, and then another 40 minutes for your food. It's just horrible. People order and just leave, because it's impossible to wait that long. The staff is not the friendliest, there are enough people working, but it still take a very long time to prepare everything, maybe there is no control over them. It's gotten a ton better recently. Food was actually ok, and they were open within hours. Unfortunately I can't say they're great. The wait times can still be brutal, and they forgot part of my order. More than happy to fix stuff though. read more

Horrible customer service!! Order 4 combos and was huffed at multiple times. After ordering the last combo employee said oh my god in disgust!! So I immediately told her to forget our order and left. I ordered through the app while at this sonic and tried to check into the stall. After several minutes where I was getting logged out I pushed the button for assistance. I was notified that they were short staffed and were only servicing the drive thru (there were no signs posted). I proceeded to wait in the drive thru line for 45 minutes. When I received my order I was given a completely melted ice cream in a hot cup. The staff admitted it had been sitting out for 45 minutes and refused to remake it. I asked for a refund and I realized when I got home they shorted me $2. I wasted an hour of my time, didn't receive any of my food and they stole $2 from me. read more

It's a 50/50 shot on whether or not you will get good service. Today I ordered an M&M blast, the top half was M&M but I can't say the same for the bottom. Of course I still ate it cause I payed for it, though it's a bummer I only really got half what I ordered. SONIC can have decent ice cream some of the time, but the service is quite slow. read more

This place should be condemned. The woman running the drive thru has a massive attitude problem and I called the restaurant personally to tell her to fix her attitude. You don't yell at customers as soon as they get up to the microphone. Learn some basic customer service skills before considering getting a job working with customers. First let me start off by saying- this review is not in regards to the food, it's my experience and the employee. I almost got physically assaulted by the "man" in the drive through. I work as a door dash delivery driver, and when I accepted the order for Sonic, I did not know it was under construction, so as I pull up to the sonic I notice that there are two huge construction trucks on both side, as well as cones up & a huge truck for their delivery. I noticed a big suv in front of me turn around because they couldn't fit through, so I assumed I couldn't either and had to park down the street and walk to pick up the order for the customer. When I walked up and pressed the red button, I was first greeted with an attitude. The employee rudely said "welcome to sonic how may I help you" in a snarky tone. It didn't bother me much, I figured they might be short staffed. I kindly let him know I'm here for a door dash and said the name. He proceeded to rudely say if I want it I can "come through the drive thru." I look over and see him looking at me through the window, so he clearly knows I don't have my car next to me. I tell him I couldn't pull in due to construction, and he said "I SET UP THE CONES MYSELF SO PEOPLE CAN COME IN." okay sir, well unfortunately I couldn't. So I am here to get the order and told him again what it was. (It was only two drinks- a regular coke and a regular Dr Pepper). he tells me again, "you can go get your car." So I explained further, not sure what he wasn't understanding. Then he rudely says, "what is the name then????" And by this point, I've said it two or three times already. So I politely said, " like I said it's ____". I watch him THROW his headset, storm out the door and up to me screaming at the top of his lungs. "LIKE I SAID??????" And kept walking towards me. After the fourth time screaming he is now in my face. I said "yes?" I was very confused at what was happening. He then screams more about how I am rude. Funny, as he is screaming (nearly spitting from anger) in my face. I am not about to get physically assaulted for a door dash order that he wouldn't give me when he saw in my hands I had the order pulled up, so I calmly said "this is crazy, you are crazy, I can't do this." And proceeded to walk away when he then screams more "we have cameras!!!" Good, I'm glad. Hopefully your boss saw you storm out of your "safe space" to come up into a woman's face who is a partner with your company, here to pick up an order and you wanted her to feel unsafe and scared and to prove you're "so manly." Let's see how that works out for you when everyone knows you tried assaulting customers. I have no words. I've already filed reports with corporate, door dash, and considering police. but I wanted to let everyone know their attitude problems are insane here. Worst Drive thru I've ever been to. We pull up to the pay/food window and the man there opens the door and stares with no word. We hand him the credit card and he takes it and stares at us for a few seconds and shuts the window. About 10 minutes later, he opens the door again and says nothing so we ask him for our shakes. I was at our local Sonic in Ooltewah, TN when I saw a worker vaping on the patio. Even worse, there were about 8 kids and a baby in the patio area while he was vaping. Then, when I got up to the drive-in window, I saw a worker INSIDE the building (where food is cooked and drinks are prepped) vaping!!! I could not believe it! Since when is it okay to vape around food and orders for customers? I will not return unless things change. I love Sonic, so this bums me out, yet, my health and my kids' health is more important. read more

Because the drive thru speaker is horrible, I went to the parking spot and ordered from there. The speaker was much better. Ordered a milkshake and literally it was milk, this had been made earlier not right when I ordered it. The debit card reader did not work, so the car hop had to take the debit card to a different machine and run it from there. If anything this sonic is consistent with mediocre service. read more
