*** super cute, brand new ice cream & candy shop in Hobbs ***…read more What's the Scoop Ice Cream Shop is a brand new more than just ice cream located in the plaza near Albertson's Market. They also have homemade fudge, candy, gourmet candy apples, and chocolate-covered confections. It's a tight fit inside, so there isn't space to eat your frozen treat. Best plan to get it on the run! If I'm not mistaken, this is Hobbs' first chocolatier. They had so many delightful chocolate covered items - from nuts to jalapenos. My daughters were dying to try ice cream and stuck to their flavors. The youngest had two scoops in a cup of Krazy Kolors. Bold colors of red, blue, and yellow, but it tasted like plain vanilla to me. Lol. The oldest had two scoops of Cookie Two Step, which was chocolate chip cookie dough. Very cream. Large chunks of chocolate. The decent-sized cold mounds were served in small plastic ball caps both for $12.14. I've never seen the ice cream flavor "banana puddin'" so I'm definitely trying that next time! Cash or cards accepted. SUGGESTION TO OWNER Please post prices. TIP Closed Monday. The young lady behind the counter made me nervous at first though because it seemed like she had not seen that order. Lol. Hopefully my girl enjoys her 9" round "Hershey's Kisses cake" ($38.40) specially ordered with chocolate cake & REESE'S Peanut Butter Cup ice cream. I have a "happy birthday" cake topper already so I had them write her name on it. Looks nice. Supposedly it serves 12-16 people, but it looks huge!

BFF Yogurt was once known as Cherry Berry…read more I am happy this place is now a step above the previous vibes... I brought my daughters here on 3/5/2024 to take their minds off of the wreck that their school bus was involved in earlier that day. PROS + Awesome service! + Clean place. Flat screens with cute Looney Tunes and Disney cartoons. + Bright colors and multiple seating arrangements including tables/chairs and couches. + The smaller bowls were $.69/oz. I filled mine up well to the brim and added a few toppings = $6.21. + We Dole Whip Pineapple & Cheesecake flavors the most! + Tons of toppings including yummy, fresh fruit. CONS - Half of the yogurt options were not available. - They weren't quite in full stock with their ice creams either due to the freezer going out. They will be soon though! TIPS + Join their rewards program by simply entering your mobile number on the screen at the register. + Their next in-house event will be "Toddler Tuesday" from 11:30 AM to 7:30 PM on March 12, 2024.

Elizabeth was an absolute delight to chat with. The 3 star review comes from over half the froyo machines being out of order. There were maybe five flavors to choose from. None of which tickled my fancy, so we moved on and got some ice cream. If you're in Hobbs and have a sweet tooth, this isn't a bad spot. Hopefully, their machines will come back online with new flavor options soon!

My brother who normally doesn't care for sweets enjoyed his... as did both of my kiddos. A vanilla sundae for my youngest ($5.50) & a waffle cone with two scoops of birthday cake ($6.50) for the oldest. The scoops are reasonable sizes. The owners, according to the nice young lady who served us, make the ice cream daily. There is ample, free parking nearby. Oh man... Saturday's used to be such a cool place to go back when I was in high school…read more The 50s-style diner was cleaner. Much cleaner. The decor was in better shape. The jukebox actually worked back then. The service was fast too. The food was mostly fresh. Maybe not my favorite, but nothing too much to complain about. The pandemic most likely did some damage in hearing from others, but I have a feeling it's been in steady decline for a while. I took my family here after my daughter's school dance program on September 2, 2022. It's a bit unbelievable to watch one waitress try to take care of EVERYTHING. By everything, I mean... the dining room, phone orders, online orders, ice cream-only orders, drinks, the register. Geeze. The waitress was very friendly, but noticeably exhausted. We waited over an hour for our food. The food was mediocre and tepid by the time she got to it. She forgot my brother's milkshake. Please revive this place back to its prime. Hard pass until I hear it's changed.

TAKE A CHANCE FOR THE CHICKEN STRIPS!…read more I took a chance and went back to Saturday's today. Under previous owners, it had gotten very disappointing. Hobbs was very busy today and Saturday's didn't look too busy. I ordered what I'm most judgmental on; chicken strips! For years and years they've been frozen and it was obvious with the shape and what not. But THESE chicken strips today were definitely fresh made and hand battered with an amazingly awesome seasoned batter. Like WHOA. They were juicy and perfect but still thin enough. Crispy AND Juicy! I recommend these chicken strips and also that other people give Saturday's another chance! People were leaving as we came in so we were the only table and our waitress was very attentive and nice. Food was all delicious.

The menu is quite large, and we had a hard time choosing what we wanted, but we settled on Tostilocos, ice cream scoops, and paletas. I for a Pecan/Nuez paleta, and it was delicious as expected. My family also loved their ice cream choices, but we were a little disappointed by the Tostilocos. While the portion size was great, the cueritos were chopped so finely we couldn't fully enjoy them. The service was awesome-- our server (and cashier) was kind, patient, and friendly. She allows the kids to taste the flavors and wasn't annoyed when we asked questions about the menu and the shop. The shop has so much potential, and I am rooting for it. It is clear that the people behind it are trying to merge the flavors of our childhood with a boutique IG aesthetic, and I know they can do it! The decor is there, and with more love and care from all, including patrons, it will be the place to get your treats! (Peep the gorgeous bench and background for pictures!)

Many folks park across the street and jaywalk. LOCATION/AMBIANCE Right away, I noticed all the Mexican bottled beers they offer. My brother mentioned the tables were new. THE GRUB There was complimentary chips and salsa. Not very spicy salsa, but well-blended and flavorful. I opted to start the meal off with a Carta Blanca cerveza mainly because I'd never tried it. It was alright. The alambre taco plate ($13). You can request flour tortillas for $1 extra, however, this dish is comprised of 4 small corn tortillas with a layer of "top sirloin with red peppers, green peppers, onions, and cheese. I was asked if I wanted beans and rice with it. I didn't understand the question. Isn't that standard protocol? I really enjoyed the tray of three salsas that they brought out with our food. The red one had a good kick. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB I didn't have my kids in tow. Didn't see any kid's menu, but I'll check next time. To begin with, the establishment is small and there are only a few parking spots. We were able to park across the street though, so no biggie. We walked inside and 50 million eyeballs all looked our way. We stood there not knowing if we had to sit ourselves or wait for the server. I finally approached the server and asked her what we had to do. She then pointed to a table right by the door for us to sit at, great. It was super busy and hot inside, and almost all the tables were taken. We quickly looked at the menu and knew we wanted tacos. The selection of meats is quite small and there is not a lot to pick from. I went with the steak tacos with everything on top and the hubs had the alambre tacos. He also ordered a michelada. Chips and salsa were brought out right away. The salsa was muy caliente. Our food didn't take too long and both our dishes came with rice and beans. My steak tacos were dry AF. The meat was bland and it had a lot of fatty pieces. It was topped off with some chopped cucumbers and cilantro but nope it still had no flavor. The hubs also was not impressed and he said that his tacos weren't it. (That means it's a no) The michelada was good though! It was yummy! The rice and beans were also pretty good! Our sever came and went a few times, but I had to literally wave my cup in the air for a refill. The inside was hot and by the time we left, my back was sweaty... So sad I didn't like this place. It has potential though.
