He showed some improvement, but others on his care team disagreed about the cause of his symptoms, and he was discharged without further antibiotic care. Two weeks later, he had to be re-hospitalized because the confusion came back. When I asked for them to resume the antibiotic care, I was met with huge resistance, but our neurologist put us in touch with the Stram Center and told us to follow up there. From that point on, everything changed. I first spoke with Nadine, who listened carefully, expedited my appointment with Dr. Stram and guided me through the intake process. For the first time in a month, I felt heard, cared for and hopeful. We saw Dr. Stram in May 2025 and what can I say? He spent hours talking to us about my husband's health background and symptoms, and, after careful evaluation and testing, identified that my husband had contracted multiple tickborne infections. He developed a thoughtful, holistic care plan that was tailored to my husband's individual needs and included input and supervision from multiple, interdisciplinary clinicians. We travelled to Albany for 6 weeks of 5-day/week treatment. It wasn't easy and it was expensive (health insurance covered very little). But was it worth it? Absolutely!
