Bedbugs If I could give zero, I would I am writing this…read morereview with absolute disgust and disbelief after our recent stay at [courtyard ]. What was supposed to be a standard stay turned into a living nightmare due to a severe bed bug infestation and a complete breakdown of basic hotel management and customer service. We discovered bed bugs in our room. When we immediately contacted the front desk (around 1 AM), the nightmare really began. It took an unacceptable 27 minutes for a staff member to even show up to speak with us. To make matters worse, they refused to come up to the room to inspect the bugs and shockingly declined to even view the video evidence we had clearly captured. Their apathy was staggering. We were finally moved to a new room on the opposite side of the hotel at 7 AM. After almost no sleep, we were then woken up shortly after by loud, pervasive construction noise directly outside our new room. When I went to the front desk to complain, the manager was incredibly rude and, in a breathtaking display of dishonesty, completely denied that any construction work was happening at the hotel. Furthermore, we were unable to use the pool or gym during our entire stay as they were closed or unavailable, a detail not disclosed to us beforehand. As we were attempting to check out and leave, our exit was physically blocked. The construction crew was using the only functional exit door, making it impossible for us to leave with our luggage for some time. This is not only unacceptable service but a major safety hazard. The manager has refused to refund us for the night we spent with the bed bugs. We are longtime guests who have stayed here twice a year for years. This experience was not just "bad service"; it was a total failure. This hotel is garbage, the staff is unprofessional and rude, and the management is dishonest. We will NEVER stay at this property again and strongly advise every traveler to steer clear for their own health and safety. I have full photo and video documentation of the infestation and the construction noise to back up every word of this review.

This review is for Comfort Suites Mahway - Paramus at 229 SR-17…read more THIS HOTEL IS OWNED AND MANAGED BY A PERSON WHO DOESN'T HONOR CHOICE HOTEL REWARD REGULATIONS... AND DOESN'T RESPECT CONTEMPORARY WOMEN OR PEOPLE WHO ARE IN LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS. My 15-year-old son won a local tennis tournament and needed a last-minute hotel room, so I booked a room at 11:30 pm using reward Choice points for him and his mother. The manager and owner refused to let them stay at the hotel because her driver's license didn't have my last name. The Choice Hotels Rewards program clearly says immediate family, children and partners can stay at hotels booked using reward points (see below) The manager said 'there's a lot of fraud these days' in the Choice Points Hotel program and DEMANDED a marriage certificate (which is not required by Choice Rewards rules). Bottom line, at midnight, the owner and manager kicked my family out of the hotel. They wouldn't let them stay there EVEN THOUGH I USED 6,000 REWARD POINTS AND PAID AN ADDITIONAL $48 for the night. And they kicked them out without refunding my credit card payment or points. I swear this is the truth. IF YOU'RE A MODERN WOMAN who believes you should be able to keep your own last name (and not have to carry a marriage certificate to prove you're married) - or if you're a man who supports women keeping their own identity, STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU HAVE A LONG-TERM PARTNER as part of your immediate family and you believe businesses should consider your long-term partner as part of your family, STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU BELIEVE IT'S NOT OKAY FOR A HOTEL OWNER AND MANAGER TO KICK A CHILD AND HIS MOTHER OUT OF PAID HOTEL ROOM AT MIDNIGHT, STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. IF YOU BELIEVE A COMPANY SHOULD HONOR THEIR REWARD PROGRAM (see picture for points redemption rules), STAY ANYWHERE ELSE. Where we spend our money sends a message, I'm asking you to send a message to this hotel owner and stay somewhere else instead of here. Thank you.

The hotel was not even a minute away which was super convenient, it was right down the road. The concierge at the front desk was nice and accommodating, and even asked us if we wanted a cookie (which was nice and warm!) It was chocolate chip and oat, delicious! The hotel was fine and served it's purpose, the room could use a little bit of sprucing up, but all in all was totally fine! I appreciated that the room got nice and cold during this August heat. In the morning, my husband and I were planning on checking out around 10:30 AM. We woke up around 7:30-8:00 AM to check out the restaurant in the hotel for Breakfast. Housekeeping was already around knocking on people's doors. Unfortunately, our room didn't have the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the back of the door for us to use. Around 9:30-10:00 AM, housekeeping knocked on the door (since she couldn't get in with the card key since we locked the door). We told her that we were still staying in the room, and she moved on. Once we checked out, we had to wait about a minute or so for a concierge to get to the desk. She seemed a little monotone/unfriendly, but oh well. All in all, we had a pretty chill experience here.

No coffee, no pitchers of chilled water, cookies, apples.....No signs to indicate where the elevator is, which happens to be quite a distance from the lobby. Rooms are spacious, nicely appointed and very clean. Service? Well we arrived at 11:30am and were told no rooms were available and that they would text us when one was ready. We stored our bags. Having received no text, we returned at 2:15 to find out that there were a number of rooms ready. Oh well, sorry to say overall this is a pretty dismal experience, not one that we have come to expect from Doubletree or other Hilton properties.

The bathroom caulk has broken down and dark substances around the bathroom cabinets - lack of basic maintenance. As the room phone was broken, I had to speak to the manager in person to resolve the issues. Here is are the results: They moved a loveseat into the suite - yay a place for my family to sit. They brought me a microwave. I guess they move this microwave from room to room as people complain. They didn't do anything about the busted video games- they don't seem to care about this. They said they don't have a replacement phone so I just don't get a phone in my room. They gave me a couple of rolls of toilet paper at the front desk. Not a big deal, but having to go down the elevator because your room phone is busted really sucks. They didn't have replacement room phone so it will just stay broken for the next customers. The superstart breakfast was supposed to have muffins and granola bars as the food. On the last day, the front desk guy only put out blueberry muffins - I asked him for the granola bars and chocolate muffins- he said the General Manager only told him to out blueberry muffins and he was told not to put out the granola bars, so I didn't get anything for breakfast as I didn't want blueberry muffins. He gave me the phone number of the gerneral manager to call him on Monday. Please be certain that if you stay in this room after me - you will have the same problems as me as they don't intend on fixing these things. The room rate was $145 per night was good but we didn't get what was promised and the suite was way way below sub par. I am going to try and get a refund from Expedia as I didn't get what I paid for. I hope this review saves yelpers some disappointment.

Unfortunately I thought that the room comes with a refrigerator, and microwave automatically. I knew on the website they don't have a gym or a pool so we left the hotel to get lunch. We came back to relax and eat. Sadly my food was cold so I went downstairs to microwave my food. Hours later we went back out for dinner we took the stair and when we got to the first floor a man with no mask was walking with around the hallway with a cigarette in his mouth. When we get into the parking lot we realize that there were a lot of cars. As we're leaving to get dinner, and drinks. We came back an hour later to see all the parking spaces full. Lucky we found the last spot. Sadly a couple came in after us looking for a parking spot for a while. We came inside from side entrance realizing the door was cracked open unlocked which is a safety hazard. The next morning I looked on the website to see what time breakfast starts. Unfortunately it didn't say anything about what time breakfast started. I went downstairs around 8:30. I went to the front , a guy behind the front desk by the door looked the other way and knew I was standing there. I had to say excuse is breakfast close he said yes. I then saw a sign that breakfast starts at I think 5am to 8am. I would think it will close till 9:30 or at least have a sign so people know when they check in. You're basically paying for what you get. They do require guest to wear mask when you walk around the front desk or hallway. I feel that all the staff should be wearing mask. I saw a couple with no mask on.

Linda said since I booked 3rd party by way of Booking.com that there was nothing she could do and told me to reach out to Booking.com. My husband and I stayed for one night at the Crowne Plaza Suffern-Mahwah by IHG on March 7-8, 2026. The stay turned out to be extremely disruptive. Around 11:00 PM, we began hearing a loud, constant whistling noise coming from the bathroom plumbing in our room. It appeared to be a mechanical issue with the pipes and made it very difficult to sleep. Shortly after we finally fell asleep, the hotel's emergency alarm system activated, repeatedly instructing all guests to evacuate the building immediately. My husband and I evacuated along with many other guests and were required to stand outside in the rain for approximately 45 minutes while the alarm continued. What was most concerning was that no information was provided to guests about what was happening or whether it was safe to return. Once we were eventually allowed back inside, there was no explanation or communication from the hotel regarding the situation. The following morning, we also received a receipt slipped under our door showing a Mastercard payment, even though the stay had already been prepaid through PayPal via Booking.com. When we asked the front desk about this at checkout, the staff seemed confused and somewhat irritated rather than providing a clear explanation. After more than a week of back-and-forth communication between the hotel and Booking.com, the only resolution offered was a $14.95 credit, which required me to submit my credit card information through a link to receive it. Considering the mechanical issue in the room, the late-night evacuation, standing outside in the rain for 45 minutes, the billing confusion, and the lack of communication afterward, this response felt extremely inadequate. I understand that emergencies happen, but what was most disappointing was the lack of communication and accountability afterward, both from the property and in the resolution process. I hope hotel management reviews this situation and takes it seriously, because this experience fell far below the level of service and guest care I expected from a Crowne Plaza property.

The beds are comfortable, with plenty of outlet updates. Free, Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were available all day/night and they do have a very expensive small pantry. Two negatives to this property. 1. The doors are NO where near soundproof. At all! The main door is tissue thin, as is the adjoining room door. Unfortunately, we could not get our party adjoining rooms. At 6:00am I was startled awake by an elderly gentleman who sounded like he was in my room!!! Not acceptable!!! ( guys beware of what you say and DO at this hotel if you have an adjoining door!) 2. we had another heating problem with the room. So we cut off the heater and expected the room to cool down but it did not. The windows do not open so on a 20° night we actually had to turn the air conditioner on to cool the room down so that we could have a 67° room. Completely inefficient heating in this building. The hotel was almost booked so the Saturday breakfast attendant could not keep up with the food. I felt sorry for them. There was quite a hungry youth group that kept wiping out the hot breakfast items. But the options were typically normal Hampton Inn. Over all a fair stay, sans the paper thin doors which removes a star!!!! NOT Acceptable
