It's nice just our doors lock was kinda broken a little bit but it's still good and is pretty cheap.

Stayed here in order to run away from my family. Hotel is clean, easy to get to, and the price wasn't bad at all. They've done some updates but other areas could use some help. Check in was a breeze, and I was in my room in 5 minutes. Free wifi is always good. The room isn't as updated as some of the other Holiday Inn Expresses I've visited. The furniture still features a big, clunky armoire, a desk, etc. They retrofitted the room with a charging station next to the bed but it's only on one side, so if you need plugs on both sides you're SOL. Yes, you do hear some of the noise from Route 17, so ask for a room in the back if that will bother you. Also, why do they still have those awful radio alarm clocks with the glowing red numbers? They are awful. I couldn't unplug it because the plug was practically welded in behind the nightstand, so I put it in the drawer to keep the numbers from shining at me all night. The hallway was newly carpeted and the ceiling is rather low, so the perspective felt very weird. There's something about the carpeting pattern combined with that low ceiling that gave me slight vertigo. While the room was clean I was extremely disappointed to discover an older, embedded smoke smell near the bathroom. The hotel is advertised as being 100% smoke-free, but obviously they don't do a good job of getting rid of the odor after someone has fouled the place. I noticed that the shower curtain was retaining that odor. The bed had a new mattress, loads of pillows and it was extremely high up. I had to laugh, I'm short, and I practically had to take a running leap to get onto the bed. The TV worked well but I think it's satellite and there was some drop-out in the sound while watching. The morning breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, turkey sausage, bacon, cold cereals, oatmeal, cinnamon buns and a pancake machine. There's yogurts and fruit, too. There's bread, bagels, etc. They had jelly and cream cheese today but no butter, which I found odd. Coffee, tea and cocoa were readily available. Pros: Not a bad price for North Jersey; clean room; good bed, full breakfast; 24 hour availability of coffee, tea & cocoa in the lobby. Cons: smelled smoke in places; not fully updated; road noise. Hotel is really just rooms and a breakfast bar. There's no restaurant or bar (like with most HI Express properties) so you'll have to go out to eat or order in.

This place is pretty clean, very old, and has televisions that don't get any channels. Front desk says they are 'calling the TV people' which means 'we aren't doing anything'. Not a good place overall.

Bad stay... I stayed here for two days while I was in town on business this month. I stayed in (136) which was down the far end of the hotel. The room itself had water leaks (see photos), The table lamps buy the bed would not work properly when they were plugged into the outlet behind the bed which required me to unplug one from the outlet behind the bed and plug it in on the square box next to the bed (see photos). The parking lot was POORLY managed leaving thick frozen over slushy ice which then was hidden by another two inches of snow which was not plowed either! Now for the WORST PART... On three separate occasions on my second day there, my room key would not work. This may not seem like such a big problem but when you can't get in the building and your forced to walk in heals (while it's very cold) through their poorly maintained parking lot all the way up to the main desk to get it reset. I was told that my card needed to be reprogrammed because I had supposedly put it too close to my car keys, credit card or cell phone. Since I couldn't be sure I hadn't done that the first time I though OK, they system is really outdated (I've never had this problem anywhere else) but at-least I know to keep it by itself... Unfortunately, it didn't matter, the card went blank two more times despite my being careful not to put it near anything electronic. Mind you this occurred THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY! After the third time and again when I checked out I requested that the hotel refund me the cost of a portion of my stay, I got a voicemail and then this email from the manager Victoria: "I hope you are doing great today. I would like to apologize for the incovenience that you had while staying with us for two nights. Unfortunately our room keys if you place them next to a credit card, set of car keys or cell phone that will deactivate them. I believe that was the problem with the room keys. Again I am sorry about the incovenience. Again thank you very much for staying with us and I hope you give us another opportunity to stay with us on your next trip to the area. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me." Needless to say I contacted her & again said I was asking for a partial refund her response via email was: "I hope you are doing great today. Thank you very much for replying back. I apologize again for all the incovenience. After speaking with my manager unfortunately we are not going to be able to do any refund back to you credit card. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me." The problem is what Victoria considers as an "inconvenience" I experience as a safety issue compounded by awful customer service. All that and I let her know this response was not acceptable, it's now been more than a week and despite my attempts to follow up and letting her know I would be filing complaints through multiple outlets, Victoria has not responded. Perfect place to stay in if you want to sleep in a bed full of pee.

We all enjoyed our stay here last time, therefore I reserved another four rooms for my family again since we had to attend another family affair in the area later this year. I used my Marriott Bonvoy hotel points to book all four king bedrooms for Saturday through Monday for a two night weekend. Each of the four hotel rooms cost me 49k points each or 196k points for four rooms for two weekend nights. Our Saturday check-ins and Monday morning check-outs went smoothly.I had not problem using my points. The parking lot was busy when we arrived on Saturday, but had less vehicles on Sunday evening. I had a standard king bedroom #233 located on the second floor rear of the hotel overlooking the construction of new buildings. See my pics. My room had a small refrigerator. The bathroom shower had liquid dispensers mounted on the shower wall to dispense liquid shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. I was disappointed that I was not upgraded to a suite as I was upgraded earlier this year, since I also reserved four hotel rooms earlier this year. My room had a 43-inch LG flat screen HDTV. We also again enjoyed the adjacent and connected Bonefish Grill restaurant. We will likely return here again if we have to attend another family affair in the area. I like the location of this restaurant to my other family and friends in Bergen County.

The breakfast buffet was excellent! Every day they had different dishes. Great variety. There were plenty of options for people who don't eat pork and even for vegetarians. Usually the only protein is eggs. But they also had chicken sausage, vegetarian sausage, and a yogurt bar. Of course there was the usual continental breakfast fare: waffle maker, assorted cereals, assorted breads (bagels, muffins, etc), fruit, and juices. Although there are some empty spaces at this minute I snapped some of my pictures, when one thing ran out they were quick to replenish it. And they made sure to keep food stocked until the end of breakfast (sometimes buffets start emptying things out well before closing time). This was definitely appreciated by those who came a few minutes before 10! The space for dining is a bit small. Every day except one, it was very crowded. But they do provide trays so you can take the food to your room, which I did each day. Having trays was awesome--such a small thing but made a big difference! They also have a hot drink area available all day: coffee, hot chocolate, and tea (although the flavors are basic).

I stayed here because I wanted to be away from the masses and crowds, and the Waterstone Inn fit the bill perfectly. The inn is literally across from the lake, so makes for a perfect summer or weekend getaway. The inn provides kayaks and canoes free of charge to go out on the lake. I communicated with Maureen before my stay and she was very quick to answer any questions. She was an absolute delight to converse with throughout my stay. She mentioned they weren't sure if they'd reopen after 2020, but they invested more money into the property and made some renovations to make the place more comfortable for guests, despite being an older property. All rooms/suites have a private bathroom and locks for privacy. I stayed in the spacious Bradford Suite on the 3rd floor, but all the rooms they offered seemed equally delightful to stay in when I took a peek. The place is so small and cozy that I didn't encounter any other guests except during breakfast hours (I think only one other room was occupied mid-week). Breakfast is included and is delicious...the food is freshly made to order. There are plenty of places to sit for breakfast whether it be a couch in the lounge, the window-side tables with lake views, or the front porch. The nautical and lake themes throughout the property were very well thought out and tasteful to give you a "getting away" type of feel. The porch area is welcoming and the perfect place where you can enjoy spectacular views of the action on the lake. The property has a parking lot on property directly adjacent to the inn which always felt safe and secure. The town of Greenwood Lake on the NJ/NY border is very cute, and was the filming location of a lesser known recent movie starring Morgan Freeman called the Magic of Belle Isle.
