I had mediocre experiences with the last 2 providers I went to locally, so decided to try this one…read morein hopes of good service. As I require yearly exams, I was looking for a long term relationship.
Booking an appointment was typical of this area - was 3 weeks before I could get one.
The staff was a bit slow to check me in, despite my having printed and filled out all the paperwork before my arrival. At no time did either of the women at the desk offer their name.
The woman who did the "pre-exam" also didn't give her name, and was brusque, running me through the typical "read this" series quite rapidly.
My wait to see the doctor wasn't long, and Dr. Lesley Brooks was the only person to introduce herself. After doing the exam, I inquired about contacts for regular distance, as I wear bi-focals and would like the option to not have to wear glasses 24/7. The doctor was amenable to this.
The staff determined that they did not have contacts in my RX, so I'd have to come back when the were shipped in, and I expressed a desire to have a "refresher" on contacts as I'd used them quite a few years ago, and wanted to be sure I remembered putting them in properly.
Approximately a week later, I received a text saying they were in, so I called for an appointment, which took another week.
On arriving for this appointment, the wait was about 10 minutes, the staff again was not very friendly, and basically sat me down with the contact samples, took them out of the box and gave them to me. The "instructions" from the staff were near non-existant and consisted of "there's a sink if you want to wash your hands" and "you can use your pinky if you want".
After struggling for about 5 minutes, I succeeded in finally getting them in, and although I had tears streaming down my face, and was NOT offered a tissue. I realized as I was leaving, there was a dispenser on the bench, right next to the staff person but I couldn't see it!! One might hope either of the staff members present would have made the simple effort to hand me one.
I was going to leave with the contacts in, but the woman who'd given me the "pre-exam" on my last visit said I couldn't leave until she was sure I could take them out. She was NOT the person who was "instructing" me, but was working at another bench the whole time, and up to that point never even looked at me.
What really soured me was that although the woman who booked the contact appointment mentioned a fee, she didn't give me an amount.
When I was leaving, I was charged $60.00 for "CL FITTING BASIC" and another $50.00 for "New CL Wearer Training". At no time was I given a "CL FITTING" that I was aware of, and to charge a total of $110.00 for someone to WATCH ME put contacts in was incredible. There was no assistance of any kind, and for neither person to even offer me a tissue was just astounding.
Although the Doctor herself was nice enough, I can't give this office a good recommendation. Their staff seems uninterested, uncaring, and apparently it's all about usurious fees for no help at all.
