Eileen, your attempt to spin the facts and paint me as a liar in your
reply is completely unacceptable. Every single detail I shared is the
truth, and I have the timeline, text records, video footage, and
witnesses to back it up. Let's clear the record:
The Arrival Timeline & Rushed Service: Your technician explicitly
instructed us to arrive at least 10 minutes early. To ensure I
followed that instruction--leaving work early so I wouldn't be late--we
arrived at 6:57 PM for a 7:30 PM appointment. I texted to let her know
we were early. Instead of being ready, we were left sitting outside a
locked, unlit store. At 7:25 PM--just five minutes before my scheduled
appointment--your technician came flying and speeding into the parking
lot, rushed inside, and only then texted us that we could come in. She
was still turning on lights and setting up the credit card machine
while we stood there. The entire session felt completely rushed.
My Mom's Mistake & Botched Spray: Right after spraying my mom's one
arm, the technician realized she used the wrong, darker tanning
solution, stopped, wiped it off (though my mom could still feel it
lingering), and then switched solutions. For whatever reason, my mom's
tan took on a completely orange look that people pointed out all
weekend. During my own spray, the technician lost track of where she
had sprayed and miscounted, leaving my tan severely uneven with my
hands, arms, and various other body parts showing stark patches of
noticeably darker and lighter areas. As I was walking out with my
paper pads off, she casually yelled, "Oh, I forgot to tell you to keep
those on"--just another product of her rushing.
Confusing Products & No Instructions: While we chose to purchase the
soap and lotion bundle because she was supposed to be the
professional, she lumped both bags together right next to each other
on the counter and said, "These are yours," giving us zero instruction
on which soap was meant for whom while we were staying at a hotel for
a four-day wedding event. Furthermore, we had to text once we got home
just to ask for the aftercare instructions since we hadn't received
them yet--and none of those instructions explained that there were two
different soaps or specified who had to use which one. Your business
also never once went over your policies with us.
The Photos & Recorded Proof: Your technician demanded I send natural
light photos of my tan. Since my mom was busy running last-minute
errands on Thursday, I sent photos of myself, which clearly showed my
tan was uneven, with my hands, arms, and other body parts displaying
stark patches of darker and lighter areas. Don't try to deny what you
said on the phone, Eileen. I had you on speakerphone with several
people in the room--including someone actively recording audio to test
a microphone for the wedding--and we have you on recording explicitly
admitting that you could see those lighter spots in the photos I sent.
The second I told you I had zero time to come back in to fix your
mistakes, you completely panicked, walked it back, and claimed you
couldn't tell from the photos.
Zero Time to Return & Useless "Resolutions": From the very first
message, I made my schedule crystal clear. When you finally offered a
"complimentary tan," I asked who would perform it; you said you didn't
know--it would be whoever was on shift, meaning I could easily end up
with the same person and the same rushed, botched results. You then
said if I came in after September 1st, you could spray me, but it
wasn't a guarantee. Even if it was, there is absolutely no way I would
risk a repeat of the embarrassment of having an uneven tan during a
four-day wedding event. After all of that, a refund was the absolute
least you could have done to address the embarrassment and
unprofessionalism.
The Bottom Line: After spending an entire wedding weekend being
mortified and told by multiple people that my tan was severely uneven
and my mom's looked orange, no one in their right mind would ever want
to step foot back in your salon, free or not. I tried to handle this
privately with you like an adult to avoid a review, but your refusal
to take accountability and your attempt to gaslight me in your public
response forced this update.
We paid $153.52 across two cards for a rushed, botched, deeply
embarrassing experience, and we deserve a full refund.
